I built this terrain piece recently, to function as a hill. I'm not an artist, but I'm fairly happy with it. I documented the process step-by-step here, if anyone is interested.

Looks good except for THE CYHNARAN GUN! FILTHY SPY SEIZES THE TRAINTOR!
Kidding, it looks good.

My only point of contention is the gun. Not for faction reason but because it takes up space on the hill and no model can stand there.
But if you like 3d terrain and understand there will be a balancing act. It's great.
(Legion winged models HATE 3d terrain)

That's why I put the gun right at the edge and made sure it was pointing in a direction where it wouldn't overhang any standing spot. And yes - I do like 3d terrain way better than 2d. It just looks better. Of course, you've got to avoid the ridiculous 3d terrain that blocks your own vision, causes models to fall off, or creates other issues.

Nice work, I think the gun is a nice bit of detail.
It looks like you painted the base then applied gravel? I think it usually looks better to apply the gravel then paint over it.
You could have made the gun removeable using a pin or magnets, which would help with storage and transport as well as gameplay.
The gun looks a bit out of place unprotected in the open like that; it is a bunker after all, and bunkers are designed to protect soldiers while they fire out at attackers. Maybe you could have put some walls or sandbags around the gun so the operator could have some protection.

Nice work, I think the gun is a nice bit of detail. Thanks. I got the idea from a sketch I found from someone else's blog years ago. Click the link in my first post for more detail on that. It looks like you painted the base then applied gravel? I think it usually looks better to apply the gravel then paint over it. Good idea. Yeah - I didn't paint over the gravel. You could have made the gun removeable using a pin or magnets, which would help with storage and transport as well as gameplay. Also a good idea I didn't follow. The gun looks a bit out of place unprotected in the open like that; it is a bunker after all, and bunkers are designed to protect soldiers while they fire out at attackers. Maybe you could have put some walls or sandbags around the gun so the operator could have some protection. In my mind, the soldiers inside the bunker were operating the gun remotely. Maybe that doesn't make sense.

I really like the idea of a bunker as a hill. The size and shape make so much more sense this way. One thing you might also consider, in addition to magnetizing the gun, is making the bunker baseless. Like, the base goes to the sides of the bunker and stops. Seems like it'd blend more with the game table and interfere less with model placement at the edges.

Magnetizing the base is a good idea, beyond that I think this piece is good. The basing helps with treating the hill as area terrain since you got to be entirely on the hill anyway to benefit from the defense bonus.
