Here I will document my return to the Motherland. In 2004, as we left the expo hall at GenCon, my son suggested a last stop at the cool-looking PP booth. A Man-o-War Shocktrooper caught my eye. So badass! My entry into the IK. Now, nearly 15 years later, with duplicates or more of every Rhulic model (and many dwarfish conversions) it's time to return to the Motherland. Since 2005 (Gorten Battle Box) Khador's remained my "other" faction, so over the years I've kept up on favorite purchases. With the Armored Corps theme through CID, I'm motivated to take stock of what I have in boxes and storage, and where to begin. Here's what I already have in-theme, mostly unpainted after years spent in Rhul... - Unpainted full five-man unit of Mechaniks [done!]
- Unpainted Mechanik Officer [done!]
- Unpainted Bombardier Bombshell to be converted to mech officer #2 [done!]
- Partly painted, partial (four) Shocktroopers (from old days of blister packs) [done!]
- Unpainted Shockie officer [done!]
- Unpainted full five-man unit of Bombardiers [done!]
- Bombardier Officer (alt model)
- Unpainted full five-man unit of Demo Corps [done!]
- Dragos McDragon-pants [done!]
- [New!] Suppression Tanker
- [New!] Strike Tanker
- [New!] Partly scratch-built siege/ assault chariot
- Unpainted Drakhun + dismount
- Unpainted Forge Seer
- Painted MoW Kovnik
- 'Casters... Painted: Vlad 1 and Karchev, Unpainted: Vlad 1-alt sculpt, Vlad 2, Irusk 1, [New!] Sorscha 3 [done!],
- Jacks... Unpainted: Beast 09 and Drago, a converted Marauder with moving pistons, an extreme Juggernaut, a Demolisher kit; Painted in classic red or 5th Border style: Behemoth, two regular Juggies (one converted to Vanar's personal 'jack), a Kodiak, a Spriggan, a Devastator, two Berserkers
The rejuvenation, purchasing*, conversion and painting plan comes next! I could use suggestions!
*Looks like the Theme Forces are "functioning as intended" lol.

Step 1 modeling / conversion / painting plan: - Flesh-out TWO min. units of Mechaniks (green stuff molds as nec.) - Finally convert that Bombshell (providing an Officer for both units of mechs) - Build and modestly convert Mech Officer #2 - Highlight and shade my early-phase MoW Kovnik - Similarly touch up early era 'jacks ...Pipe-carrying mods, alt models (Hugo Lobanov?),head swaps, gears, pistons, shop floor basing, and do-dads to make my poor mold-making skills less obvious ...The Bombshell is still serving beer but pulling double duty fixing stuff, now from a partly-opened MoW chassis, and with a base where beer mugs sit on large gears.

And here's the Officers with the reds on 'em. I especially like the Bombardier Bombshell conversion - always wanted to do that! This may be a better angle and show the imperial red scheme. I'm pretty pleased. Look for updates to come slowly, but they WILL come. (My original PP forums Rhulfolk thread has been updated every couple months for over a decade.)

Looking good so far! I love the bombardier conversion, especially how the front plant hinges open on your rather than comes off completely on the official model (I wanted to do something similar on mine but have yet to get around to it).

Thanks man. You’re a talented modeler/ painter, so it’s appreciated. Her right thigh plate was also made a hinge, partly opened, although you can’t see it in the pics.

Nice conversion work! Any chance we can get a close up of the Mechaniks? I'd love to see some of the details on those a bit closer...I'm a conversion junkie of sorts, I always love seeing people's converted stuff

Those conversions realy make it a unique army! And the red turns out great!
When I read you're first post the correct way, there is a ton of work for you and a lot to expect for us! Win win, I would say :-)

Thanks guys. I'll take better pics when the mechanik officers are done. And the feedback on the reds is appreciated... I was concerned using a some jack bone (cream) highlight, rather than just orange, made it too pinkish.
I also need to add some suds to the mugs on the base.

I hear tales of how full units with all the detailing can be absolutely soul-crushing... the crude GS molding I did to create the second unit is doubling that chore. They're not very good and I'm attempting damage control with the paint brush. My GS skills still SUCK and that extends to making full body molds. I'm gonna stick to using the Oyumaru microwave molding material for flatter, simpler bits from now on. PS Here are some Mechanik bits I plan to add...

Those mechanics are 80%? Looking at the photos I thought they were already done, they look great!

Thanks bud. Yeah, it's amazing to me what pics help me notice: Hugo's swords are still part primer, some wrench handles are still primer, and those bases need help. lol
Still, these dudes, with their make-shift molds, imperfections, etc. have already consumed way too much time when I have much more fun medium bases to mod and paint!

Mechanik officers nearly done, waiting for pics. Repaint touch-ups of old painted Kovnik and 'jacks are underway. Funny to see how the early years' painting has progressed! Next on the modeling table are some OLD Shocktroopers in rough shape. That guy in the upper right was my first PP model, back in '04! Ugh. Gonna do what I can! Aaand moving on, assembly, slight mods and basing is underway...

Well, paint rehab is underway on that very first PP model (MoW). The paint's pretty thick, but some dark-lining and highlights are helping a bit. I almost kept him as-is as archival evidence of my painting progression but he does have to, at least, not look out of place in the new Corps. Now waiting for Shocktrooper #5 to come fro the PP bits store. Used a 20% coupon, so he was reasonable at about 14 bucks.
