Once I finish Tartarus and my two Soul Trappers, I'm moving on to the Kraken. I want to make sure I have a solid plan going into this one, since it's an expensive centerpiece model - like my Wraith Engine for the first army. Do keep in mind that it's a winter theme for all of my models. So snow and ice will end up on top of everything eventually.
My plan so far is to magnetize the "horn gun" and secondary guns for the sepulcher so I can swap between the two (as well as ease of storage with that huge unicorn gun). Then I'm going to pick up a Winter Guard Field Crew. Going to get some use out of my dremel here.
Kraken - Plenty of battle damage from small arms fire, cannon blasts, rust, mud on the "feet", and maybe some blood smears near where it picked up a soldier with its tentacles. Expect it to look like it's been through hell. The battle damage will be a mixture of actual dremel+boxknife damage + paint. (pre-tested on Reaper)
Winter Guard Field Gun - Crushed under a "foot". This one is going to take some dremel work to break it down I think. But so worth it. Probably have it surrounded by a small sandbag barricade (clay) and trench (raise up the ground with rock + clay)
Winter Guard Soldiers - One held up by a tentacle while still alive (one with the fire - plenty of room on the torso to manipulate). One being put into the "furnace" by the second tentacle (gunner, already bent over slightly). One dead on the ground.
PROBLEM - As stated above, I want one of the soldiers to be picked up and moving into the soul furnace via the Bone Picker rule. So I would want SOME part of the Kraken to open up, a panel large enough to put a normal soldier into. Granted, I would probably just have it cracked open slightly so I don't have to model the entire interior of the furance (ick). This will probably involving cutting away part of the carapace then re-attached it at a slightly opened angle. But I can't see any part of the Kraken that will work for this. Any suggestions?
Alternative - If I can't figure out a part to use as a furnace door, I have a backup plan. Have a tentacle hold the soldier up to the back of the furnace near that giant vent thing. Have the soldier disintegrating into it. Not sure how yet. Because soul magic.
I'm also open to any other suggestions on making this anti-khador monstrocity a true centerpiece.
Addendum - I have nothing against Khador in particular. So far I have an anti-Protectorate Deathjack, anti-Cygnar Rengrave, and now it's Khador's turn to get run over.
