It was doomed from the start. You can see it in the first few replies where people say "this is why our game is better the rules are clearer" when the 40k rules about deep striking units are absolutly crystal. You can't expect the fans of a game who rigidly stick to the rules in order to be competitive to understand why the initial topic of a thread is an issue. Just imagine the guy said "I forgot to allocate" and its the first turn of the first round of a tournament and had moved a few models already. Its that level of brainfart Its actually more like "forgot to allocate then announced to activate a Model." level of brainfart/gotcha. Not even the moved models level. He literally just put a single deep strike guy on the table and was told "OH NOES YOU DON'T GETS A MOVEMENT PHASE" GW rules are bad, unbalanced in a lot of ways, and the game itself is just...bleh. I wandered into a local tourney the other day while looking for some paint and it was mostly guard players camping in a corner of the board obliterating everyone else. And lists with 3-4 Superheavies. Just gross on every level. I know you're agreeing with me but was attacking 40k at the end there really neccesary?

I mean there’s never a bad time to throw some spite-full comments at 40k Honestly though,I have personal bad feelings towards 40k based on experiences with the game and some of the playerbase. I was really invested in it up till 7th and then started trying to play games outside of my friends group and found out how flawed the game was and met some pretty bad folks that played it. Not everyone was “that guy” but a large number of the people I met were. Combined with me playing Tyranids a sub par army at the time, and playing into a lot of net lists and rules abusuve combos it just killed the game for me. Actually the Tyranid Hive was the first forum I ever joined and participated in and that was also a pro-boards forum. In all my games of Warmachine I can count on one hand the number of butcheeks I have played against: that’s not an exaggeration. The game wasn’t “better” in mk2 balance wise, but is had a tighter rule-set than 40K and the community for Warmahordes was a bunch of really great guys down in Lynchburg. It’s just a huge contrast for me in experience and it kind of exacerbated my already negative outlook to 40K. I still love the lore. I think the game is best played casually and narratively, But I just don’t understand how people play it competativeley. And that’s coming from a guy who loves playing in Warmachine tournaments.

Reserves actions like Deep Striking used to happen at the beginning of Movement, but now they are at the end of Movement. But, he had karma watching on that one.

Edition lag is real in 40K, most of the changes they make are real subtle and sometimes feel utterly pointless, so everyone misses the molehills like deep strike timing when they look at the mountains of overwatching with doomsday cannons or tanks now tying things up in melee. Half the reson I did so well when I started was because I didn't have previous versions of the rules jumbling in my head.
