Agreed, the weapon and armor design really turns me off. I get that some of it could fall under the rule of cool... just... ugh...

Yay, mini-necro... just finished Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic... utter classic, going to get on to II shortly.

I just got the new battle tech game and I have to say that I am really enjoying it. As a fan of the board game (hex map, miniatures and some 6-sided dice) since I was in high school, this game was really well done to feel like the board game. It has some distinct differences and I do hope they put some of the iconic mechs into the game with an expansion (something about a law suit for mechs like the warhammer, phoenix hawk and marauder and a few others). Its turn based strategy, does a good job of having movement and terrain factor into hitting modifiers.
Also, for anyone that is a diablo fan, Path to Exile seems to be an almost exact clone and is pretty fun.

Path of Exile is a great game, but trading is sort of a nightmare.

I tried PoE and I just couldn't get into it despite being a huge D2 fan back in the day. I've been replaying Borderlands 2 and finishing up the new God of War. Been having a little retro love with some Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon too.

I am currently playing God of War with my girlfriend. We've finished all other parts together about a year ago on PS3, but this time we don't share the internet's excitement (that's why we've made very little progress despite buying the game on release). The game looks gorgeous, but we don't find the plot too gripping and fights feel sluggish and due to strangely limited field of vision and Kratos' poor responsiveness are very difficult for me to wrap my head around...and this is from someone who has finished Bloodborne and Dark Souls2.
Another game we're also playing now is Sky Force Reloaded and despite being a much smaller game it is a lot more fun for us.
