Like I said, TAC aren't dying if you keep them away from enemy ranged units. In this age of premeasuring, it shouldn't be too difficult.
I haven't yet tried the new siege crawler. IMHO, it has the same role as the similarly priced Avalancher. Avalancher shield guard is probably better than returning 1-3 models to play, because returned models have to forfeit action. Shield guard saved model doesn't. Avalancher gun (boostable KD gun RAT5, vs 2x non-boostable guns and no-kd) and melee abilities are better. The siege crawler has slightly less ARM, 8 more boxes and doesn't suffer stationary.

Siege crawler also has a mini-gun, cannot be disrupted, cannot be pushed, but also cannot hide.

Siege crawler also has a mini-gun, cannot be disrupted, cannot be pushed, but also cannot hide. Avalancher can't be pushed either. Siege crawler can't shake blind or shadow bind. Avalancher can be slammed, thrown or dominated and is affected by MHSF jack hunter and other anti-jack abilities. I think it all comes down to shield guard vs. recursion tech+roadblock. I can definitely see a matchup where recursion tech and roadblock are more useful than shield guard.

I was just a bit curious, since the thought of being able to return TACs (and playing them a bit more aggressively) or HAC grunts seemed to be a pretty big boon, especially with the option of hiding your HACs behind it for cover.
Either way, definitely made me rethink the place of the TACs, so I'll have to think a bit more on them next time I build a list.
