What do you all think of Elara 2 running a Forges list with multiple heavies? I think it could be very interesting with her feat and scything touch. Too bad Imperatus is only usable by Vyros in themes...

It was pretty good, the hydras are excellent for marshaling with her.

So are these Hydras getting focus from an archanist? That and their kinetic capacitor are the only ways I can think of how a marshaled jack can get focus. I was understanding that power up does not apply to jack marshals because they do not have a battlegroup.

And since the theme gives them shield guard, it's not hard to get at least 1 focus from that. And since you only use 2 when shooting, often you only need to give them 1 each.

Also as they hold onto their focus they can shake effects like Stationary and Knockdown which are usually the bane of marshalled warjacks

Not even issyria has the focus to run as many jacks as forges likes even close to optimally.

The issue I see with that idea is mainly that the jacks Elara would like to take in her BG (sphinxes, banshees, harpies or sirens) aren't allowed in forges. You are stuck with manticores for heavy melee hitters or the usual griffon spam...
I definetly take the Nyss Hunters in that list though.

You lose a POW on the main weapon but you gain a speed which a Alpha strike caster like Elara loves and you get an arc node that doesn't mind positioning aggressively to get out Marked for Death and cycle Dark Shroud.

I'm pondering giving a pair of Phoenices the run out with Elara2... they never see much play at tournament level these days which is a pity... They used to go around with a massive bullseye on their forehead, but they almost go under the radar now. Taking two in Forges with a Chimera lurking about seems like it could cause a couple headaches... perhaps...

I almost always run her with a two of them something like this, considering dropping the Nyss for more Halbs. Retribution Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Defenders of Ios (Elara 2) Elara, Death's Shadow [+28] - Chimera [8] - Phoenix [18] - Phoenix [18] Arcanist Mechanik [2] Arcanist Mechanik [2] Dahlia Hallyr [17] Houseguard Thane [0(4)] Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters (max) [19] - Soulless Escort (1) [1] Houseguard Halberdiers (max) [13] - Houseguard Halberdier Officer & Standard [4] - Soulless Escort (1) [1]

The Snake is likely just personal preference. It provides a solid ranged presence that is completely self sufficient and relatively safe. AFG could accomplish this as well but the snake has some late game assassination presence that has really paid off for me. A ghostly boundless charged heavy swinging at four dice to hit on the charge and then paralyze after that kills casters.
