Last Thursday, I played my buddy Rob, using a Jaga-Jaga WWFF list into his Vlad2 Wolves of Winter list. I figured Jaga-Jaga was pretty good but also a bit more fun to play against than Maelok or Rask, but man, my inexperience with her showed. I made way too many mistakes, and he ended up assassinating me on the top of Turn 3.
Had I played better (by, I don't know, casting Battle Host first turn, or remembering that ALL my beasts had Overtake instead of just the Swamp Horror), I likely wouldn't have been assassinated so soon, and attrition at this point was pretty even. Would have been a pretty close game. Still, it proved to be a valuable learning experience, as my Jaga-Jaga experience is pretty limited.
I'm planning to go to the game store tonight, and hopefully play someone I've never met before. That will be exciting.
And Cryx stuff has started arriving, so I expect to have my first Cryx list fieldable sometime in February.

Played last night against a local player, Jesse, who I had never met before. I played Rask WWFF, he dropped Irusk2 Legion of Steel.
He tabled me. Just, flat out destroyed me.
Still, I learned a TON from the game (including how Legion of Steel works, and how cavalry works!), and I had a fantastic time. Didn't take any notes, because I didn't want to slow the game down the first time I play with someone!
Next game will be next Tuesday against Joey, and likely his Ossrum list. He said he had about a month to go before his Khador were ready to go.

Third game of the year (and hopefully last one before I start taking good notes and battle reports again!). I played Joey's Ossrum Hammer Strike list with Maelok Blindwater Congregation. Scenario was Mirage, my first time playing it. He plays pretty aggressively, which caught me a little off guard, but I managed to hang out, start pressing ahead on the attrition game, and end up winning by scenario. First win of 2019!
In other news, I've been working hard doing an inventory and status of all of my Warmachine/Hordes models, to help prepare for my next armies. I'm up to over 2000 points of models for the game, and I still have a few boxes of stuff to go through. Found a bunch of things I didn't realize I had- Bane Riders? MORE Cephalyx than I was expecting? Good news all around!
Also, my painting section of the basement is almost completely set up. I am thinking of priming some minis this weekend, and maybe getting that part of the hobby started, finally.

Whew, lots to mention since my last post. First, the basement is coming along, but isn't quite done. I do have room to do assembly and painting, however. I just need the weather to improve enough for me to actually do some priming first. For assembly, I have been busy- I assembled Dahlia/Skarath, a Bog Trog Mist Speaker, a Gremlin Swarm, and am working on another Thrullg, the Retribution Battlegroup starter, and a unit of Bane Riders. I've played two games since my last post as well. Game 4 of 2019 I played Maelok BC against Rob's Vlad2 Doom Reaver list. It was pretty one sided, and he eventually conceded after playing a bunch and killing... 2 total Posse members? I took a bunch of notes, so hopefully will post a full battle report this month. Game 5 was a Rask WWFF against Joey's Ossrum Hammer Strike list. I do pretty well (removed his Battle Engine bottom of Turn 2, for instance), and won.... but later had to concede as I realized I hadn't read the rules for Eyeless Sight correctly (it doesn't ignore forests, oops!). This would have cost me a single charge over the course of the game, but it was a pretty significant one (removing one of his Drillers), and maybe a second charge towards the end of the game (I charged with a Swamp Horror, but I THINK I was deep enough into the forest with it that I could've seen out of it). So, anyway, I conceded, and will play it again in the future- I really like the list, and I think it is going to be a blast to use! I used a Boneswarm with Rask, with nothing to help it get Corpse Tokens, which wasn't so great. I am going to have to replace it with another beast somewhere (maybe another Farrow beast on Rorsh, since Brine tends to die). I am going to the game store tonight, and hopefully will get another game in, against whoever is there

Ended up playing against Circle, for the first time in my life. I dropped Maelok1, he ended up using Morvahna1 in Devourer's Host. It... was not close, haha. Lord of the Feast killed a full unit of Posse by himself on the bottom of Turn 1, and although I was able to do some damage in some places, I never really threatened him during the entire game, and he won on scenario. I learned a lot of valuable lessons though- I'll try to space out differently next time I play into something like this, and see if that helps.
Unsure when my next game will be- maybe two weeks?

Yeah- I am going to try to use every game to improve my game play. I learn more when I lose though, definitely .

Played last night against Joey, who brought his new Khador army for its first ever game. He ended up taking Kozlov out of Armored Corps. I drop Rask WWFF, who I need to practice, and because I figure I'll need his armor cracking abilities in this game.
The armor cracking wasn't a problem- I remove tons of miniatures on the top of Turn 2 with some of my heavies. Unfortunately, I then lose the heavies, and I don't have enough to deal with the second wave. He eventually wears me down, and wins.
I think with Rask, maybe I need to use my clouds to block off a section of the battlefield, then use a few beasts to deal with a smaller frontage of the opposing army, and keep a few beasts in reserve. My two games using Rask WWFF have involved me getting the beasts into combat as soon as I could, and although I do a lot of damage, I run out of steam pretty quick. I still feel like I don't generate enough attacks to win the game though. I don't know. Need to practice more.
The last item (a Wraith Engine) needed to finally run my first Cryx army should arrive on Friday. After I assemble it and the other partially assembled Wraith Engine I have, I should be able to drop my first Cryx list, which will be a fun experience.

Played last night against Ryan B, who took a Skorne Exalted list with Rasheth. I played a lot of Skorne in Mk2, and a lot of Rasheth in the Chain Gang theme force, so I knew what he did at least. The Exalted theme, a bit less so. Also, for the first time, I played with a clock!
I end up dropping Maelok, with four units of Posse (having finally assembled them enough that they could get on the table). We play spread the net, I win the roll, and elect to go first.
I lose a Thrullg bottom of Turn 1 to a Razor Worm, and lose a bunch of models (including my Wrastler) to the Skorne initial attacks. I strike back, and take out a bunch of Immortals, but nothing of real importance, unfortunately. I also critically forget about one of the zones, giving my opponent some free scenario points.
He has two paths to win- either scenario or assassination, and opts to assassinate Maelok, which involved a bit of work in order to clear a Thrullg that was in the way, before the Supreme Guardian comes in and kills Maelok, with 45 seconds left. Of course, he could've easily won on scenario, too. So no matter what, I was looking at a loss.
So good and bad from this game, from my perspective. Good- I actually can manage my time decently well, I think. I was worried moving models and checking stats and all would be something I'd be really slow with. I still had 22 minutes on my clock, and was able to play pretty quick when it was my turn. Of course, I only ended up playing like three turns, so who knows how that would look in a full game.
Bad- Man I suck, haha. After losing Posse so easily to the Lord of the Feast, I tried to space my Posse out. Well, that created gaps to draw line of sight through, allowing his Immortals to get where they needed easily. I need to really be smarter about how I place the Posse, and I need to remember to use them to block easier charges to the Wrastler, who I need if I'm going to deal with heavies. I lost the Wrastler for almost no benefit, which is just pathetic. Also- I need to remind myself every turn what I'm doing about scenario. Even just 'the Soul Slave needs to end in that zone to contest it' would be better than what I did this past game. Ugh
Anyway- I should have another game coming up soon, re-introducing a friend to the game.

Played my friend's Protectorate army a few nights ago, his second ever game of Mk3.
I took Jaga-Jaga in WWFF (as I'm trying to figure out how to play the theme force), and he took the Harbinger in Faithful Masses with a lot of Paladins, including three units of Initiates.
I end up winning by barely getting a Wrastler to the Harbinger, and on my last possible attack for the turn, I kill her. I struggled quite a bit with hitting things, but thankfully Primal + Signs and Portents helped me out in quite a few places.
In this game, I tried a slightly different overall strategy. I put all of my lesser warlocks on one side, Jaga-Jaga with her battle group on another side, and played it that way. It seemed to work pretty well, although I think I actually need to have Jaga and her battle group a bit closer to the center.
Anyway, kind of a learning game for both of us, and we had fun. Hopefully he'll come out and play some more!

Whew, I've been playing a few games since my last post, but things have slowed down a bit for me... but are starting to pick back up.
May 1st, I played Rask WWFF against a random opponent at the game store (Frank), who took a Vlad3 Doom Reaver list. He went first, got on my side of all the objectives easily, and I kind of panicked. Without a good strategy, he managed to take my army apart, and beat me handily.
May 9th, I dropped Maelok BC into Joey's Kozlov AC list. I was worried about breaking armor, but with Mortality, I didn't find I had too much difficulty. We play Standoff. I split my gators into three groups- a unit each going to the left and right circle zones, and two units coming up the middle. Mortality + GP + Boneswarm basically gives me the zone to my right (facing against a unit of Shocktroopers, Atanovich, two Tankers, and a Kovnik). On the left zone, a unit of Posse starts to lose the attrition battle to a unit of Shocktroopers + a Kovnik (plus occasional help from Kozlov). I meet his jacks on his side of the board, and start contesting the far zone. Mortality helps my posse put some damage on his jacks, and he rolls terribly, keeping me in the fight. In the end, I send the Wrastler into his objective, destroying it, and winning the game.
June 18th, I play Rask WWFF into BK's Harbinger Faithful Masses list. I kill a bunch of stuff... but I lose quite a few beasts much earlier than I wanted (his Idrians do a TON of damage to me early game). I run out of beasts, he still has a good chunk of army, and I lose.
July 9th, I play Rask WWFF into BK's Reznik2 Creator's Might list. Scenario was The Pit 2. His Judicator hits my stuff hard, but he stays back, afraid of my beasts, and I manage to win on scenario top of 3 (I scored 1 bottom of 2, then 4 top of 3). We adjust the position of a few things to keep playing (basically, one jack moved up an inch to contest the middle zone, so I was up 4-0). With that change, we continue playing, and he assassinates Rask.
Have another game scheduled next week, and hope to get more games played in the next few weeks!

Oops, and have been bad about posting again. Life gets in the way sometimes! I have been focusing on getting my Cryx army playable in the current edition, and have managed to get one list built and ready to go. Games since my last post: Aug 6th: Played Maelok BC into BK's Reznik2 EI. I end up winning, mostly because this was a brand new list and a new caster for BK, and he didn't remember all of his rules and what he could do. Was good for me to try to figure things out with my gators, nonetheless. Aug 17th: Played three 0pt games with BK and Matt (Rob was there as well), as we want to slowly grow our new armies into full ones. Matt is taking Trolls, and I finally drop my Cryx, and lose to him. I then play two games against BK, winning both. Not really meaningful, just a way to get some models on the table. Oct 9th: Played Skarre1 DH into Old Witch2 JotW. I don't really have any challenges handling anything on the table- I kill heavies well, and there wasn't much infantry to slow me done. I want to get more games in with my Dark Host list, as I try to re-learn how Cryx is now . Anyway, I'm trying to get more games scheduled, and I've been steadily assembling new stuff.

Another long delay, and just a small update. I've gotten a Skarre1 Dark Host list playable, and have run it against my friends from time to time. I'm not really sure what I'll build as a second list, but I haven't really looked hard, as I've been busy building up an Infernal army, which should be playable once we're allowed to go out and play again
