So I have been looking at a fair number of Menoth lists and many of them are running 4+ warjacks. I am re-tooling a few Malekus' lists and was thinking about 2x Reckoner, 2x Vanquisher, and either a Devout for protection or a Redeemer. While maybe not the optimal warjack choices (it's what I currently have) can Malekus effectively support 5? Thanks!

It depends on what type of warjacks and whether you bring Vassals, Wracks and Hierophant
For example running two Reckoners and Eye of Truth with Malekus, you can use their power up to boost to hit on the range attack, and FA 2 on Vassals tagging along can give two of them a FOC to boost damage, and if you have a wrack, Malekus can allocate 1 FOC and get it back from the wrack. This means can run 3 jacks, with fully boosted range attacks without effectively costing you any FOC and leaving Malekus with 6 or so to play with (assuming you upkeep Ignite on something). On feat turn they get an additional die due to fire damage.
The problem comes when you want to load them up for Melee, then you got to dip into Malekus FOC pool and it doesn't go very far. Of course you can bring the Avatar potentially for less FOC drain
The other alternative is to Marshal the Redeemer or even attack it to Tristan

I would suggest swapping the two Vanquishers for a Revelator that just came out. You will have 2 more ranged attacks and a whole hell of a lot more melee power with him.

When tryingto work out how many jacks a caster can support, I normally look at what else they will be spending their focus on every turn.
So for Malekus, we are looking at Upkeep of Ignite, Open Fire (at least once depending on list build), and probably want to keep enough around for an opportunistic Scourge. So 7 - 1 - 2 - 4 = 0.
I then add in other places a caster can get focus, so Hierophant (pseudo 1) and Wrack (1). So now we are at 0 + 1 + 1 = 2.
So every turn Malekus can have approx 2 focus spare, he will want to camp at least 1, so really it is 1.
I would therefore say that Malekus wants as few jacks as possible.
I personally go for 2 x Sanctifier (self fuelling in FM) and Eye. If I wanted more jacks I'd be looking to get Tristan1 in there.

Also don't forget that Vassals can give 2 focus for Revelator, or focus-enliven for EoT. This can help on a feat turn.
