New minicrate is an alternate totem hunter. Looks so nice. Meh. one of the nicer sculpts, but I wish they'd branch out more from the 'gender swap and show some skin' approach. Ashlynn was awesome. The Geist was awesome. These sculpts are bland and uninspired, and honestly a little crass. More creative resculpts and re-imaginings would be my preference. And honestly, more branching out into specific factions. There's a lot of space there for interesting sculpts that aren't just 'genderswapped merc solo XYZ'.

Considering the high predominance of male figures. (My guess is like 70-30) I appreciate having more female figures I can add to my army to swap the balance. As for crassness. The originals are about the same level of lewdness so it fits well enough. The regular figures themselves either have cleavage or high heels or exposed tummies or nicely sculpted asses or boob plate. The entire female roster of warmachine has some form of unnecessary sex appeal. I assumed most people would have made their dues with it if they chose to play this game for a prolonged period of time. But I do agree with one point. I want more faction specific gender bends

I'd prefer if they didn't mess up with characters (Which they already did with Victor/Victoria Pendrake but they get a pass because of the movie...).
My guess is this is a fan project inside PP, they do what they feel and share it with their fans.
Btw REALLY like the look on the two they just announced a female Predator (Totem Hunter) and a Female Wallis the pirate CA (pity it replaces a character and it's a not a charactre in it's own right)

Walls is a character... Heck that guy is called Mr. Walls The Quartermaster. Not "A SeaDog Pirate Captain / Officer Dude" or something the like.

I love the new Totem Hunter- I just wish I could fit more than one into a list so I had a reason to assemble it, as the one I already have is perfectly serviceable

I'd like the see Mr. Corbeau, Madelyn's shady ex-husband. Complete with seduction.
Maybe something like two gobbers doing the whole 'tall kid getting into the movies" routine as a Bokur. Maybe a Tinkerer in a homemade Man-O-War mechanic suit. Or Thor with a nifty winged helmet and hammer and cape.
I really wish they'd do more of the clever alt-sculpts and less of the cheesecake gender swaps. They can do anything they want to the models and I refuse to accept the best answer being "add boobs".

I really like that they're doing more female characters; I'd just like to see them get a bit more creative with it and add more character/individuality to them. For instance, instead of just renaming a hypothetical Kovnik Joe into Kovnik Grigorova, throw a hefty dose of historical inspiration in there and give us Maria Grigorova, Kovnik of the 1st winterguard women's battalion of death... www.youtube.com/watch?v=cndgoEd3fkk (<worthwhile video regarding the inspiration)

PP’s female models are just boring. It’s slim chicks with big racks. Always. Where’s the pixies? Where’s the bodybuilder derby babes? There’s one female body type plus like Jaga Jaga, Helga, Calandra, and Old Witch.

PP’s female models are just boring. It’s slim chicks with big racks. Always. Where’s the pixies? Where’s the bodybuilder derby babes? There’s one female body type plus like Jaga Jaga, Helga, Calandra, and Old Witch. Female miniatures have always been a little rare at least partly because of the difficulty of sculpting/casting at traditional miniature scales. Basically, traditional 28mm Heroic miniatures have exaggerated features (faces, hands, weapons) to be able to display recogniseable details; if you compare traditional GW minis with their more realistically scaled LOTR minis you will see that the LOTR minis just didn't look as good - and GW had been one of the best for a long time. Female minis generally didn't look great at those scales unless the exaggerated features were, well, an hourglass figure; the best GW females for a long time where the Sisters of Battle, who are quite exaggerated. When I first got into Warmahordes I was impressed that they had good looking female miniatures who weren't overly sexualised (at least not compared to many other companies that I had seen - no chainmail bikinis here, even if Skarre happens to like skimpy clothes and double entendres). Since then better sculpting and casting tech and a general scale creep (Knight Models claims to produce 35mm minis but they are often closer to 40mm foot-to-eye in my experience) coupled with more realistic scales (rather than "heroic") - and perhaps a general increase in the number of companies producing minis and licensed properties being brought to the table that demand realistic proportions - has lead to a significant increase in the number of realistic female models available. Many of the female PP minis you see are old casts for one thing. And while Warmahordes is not terribly consistant with scale, it's still not really using realistic proportions so a realistic 35mm mini would still look out of place. Therefore weapons will be oversized, models will have large faces and hands, and females will have exaggerated figures; it's the nature of the scale. I actually think there's some female Warmahordes minis running around that we forget are female precisely because they are not exaggerated; I think there's some female knight models in Cygnar that you have to look close to notice, the Winter Guard Infantry UA is female, etc. Having said all that, I agree with the sentiment: it would be nice to have greater diversity. Muscular women could make sense in the setting; rotund men and women are lacking (though that's somewhat understandable given the setting), and of course non-human females are noticeably rare (though exaggerating feminine features for scale reasons as discussed above can become uncomfortable on non-humans).

[...] Basically, traditional 28mm Heroic miniatures have exaggerated features (faces, hands, weapons) to be able to display recogniseable details [...] Female minis generally didn't look great at those scales unless the exaggerated features were, well, an hourglass figure [...] Therefore weapons will be oversized, models will have large faces and hands, and females will have exaggerated figures; it's the nature of the scale. I hear this argument about miniature proportions a lot, and I think it's total hogwash. People don't usually recognize models by their faces and hands—they recognize their silhouettes. In the real world it's seldom hard to distinguish men from women at a distance where you can't make out any features. Men have wider shoulders, narrower hips, and and longer trunks. Women have narrower shoulders, wider hips, and longer legs. Men also tend to be taller. Those differences are totally do-able at miniature scales, in both realistic and exaggerated styles. You don't need bolt-on boobs for every single female model. I think relying on the boobs=female formula has made for some really awful figures. Take GW's dark eldar wyches, for example. Many of them have boobs, but they've all got wide shoulders and narrow hips. They don't look female—they look trans (unintentionally, I think). Designing characters with distinctive, recognizeable silhouettes is a core principle these days in animation, movies, video games, and the like. Blizzard (the video game company that makes World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Hearthstone, and Overwatch) is really good at this. All their Overwatch characters are recognizeable from a distance from their silhouette alone, even with "alternate sculpts". Blizzard talks a lot about the importance of silhouette in character design, and mentions it their in job posting for artists. Overwatch has a bunch of different female characters with a bunch of different body types, and it's not hard to tell who's male and who's female. I am totally okay with this. I like this about the WMH minis, as well. I want to like the satyxis models. I like a lot of their pirate-warrior aesthetic, but not the fact that they're all in cheesecake pinup outfits. You might say "in the fluff..." but I'm pretty sure the fluff was written to justify the cheesecake. As it stands, it really puts me off from buying into that subfaction. I'd have to convert the models to make them less cringey, and jesus christ that's a lot of conversion.
