I wouldn't mind the Gun Slingers so much if they were RAT6. They're prolly fine, though. DEF14, 3 man single wound unit is pretty easy to deal with.

Like....no one crapped themselves over ternion, who are arguably better in the current meta, what with sprays vs trencher clouds, better blast survivability, a stronger hitting pewpew, and at least an OPTION of debuffing.
Probably because 7 points for a single box low armor three man unit has a relatively high chance of being wasted entirely.

Thorn mages are 9 points for single wounds. Anyway no one is crying broken. Power creep more than anything else.

Thorn mages are also not that great but it isn't as though the llael theme is spoiled for choice.

Actually Thorn is very overcosted, and even 7 points seems not that cheap for a unit with 3 strength and no damage box. Even if they are discounted more and are 6 points, for six troopers it costs 12 points. Even consider the merit of small unit(it has flaws as well, though), 7 points seems enough or still slightly overcosted. Usually we expect that even a small unit with damage box are cheaper than the 4 point solos whrn comparing the model count.
Only possible problem would be Heart Seeker round combined with RAT 7, but hey, they are a Cryx unit, and they can't expect much accuracy buffs on their factions.
So, I don't see a problem on Satyxis Gunslingers. Although the small sized units are need for a rework, and make the others to claim the rightful position like the Gunslingers does. After all they will overshadows Thorn for all counts. I just hope that their presence gives a chance for Thorn, and a chance to revive poor Black 13th.

Do damage boxes really matter when they're standing 16" away from what they just killed? Which will realistically be ~5 dudes, so around their own point cost.

Well there's no doubt about that being a strong combo. But Chargers also cost 2p more than a unit of Gunslingers and while their output is really good, it's not on the level of this unit. Furthermore, outside of Caine3, which I consider a seperate issue and a terribly designed caster, there aren't that many ways to up the output of a Charger.

Yeah, having damage box on the trooper with ARM around 10 to 12 is not a big deal. But it have a diffrence if they face Sniper, and still a trooper with damage box has slightly better at survive.

Now they totally skew against lists with Jrs and are average otherwise, which is fine since they won't be an easy include. At least the solo got toned down.
