honestly i am super happy about the changes
1) creator`s might gets a unit.........its all that it needed to feel right. idrians as a possible and likely choice is fantastic. casters like reznick 2 highly appreciate this. not only you get a unit for scenario and independance. you also get a target for death march. but you also squeeze more value out of the free upkeep benefit. its the same for many casters that you would not think of playing jack heavy maybe might now because they have a target for their unit buffs. this coupled with the limiting of most themes now to realistically 3 solos. this is now a compelling theme force again with potential for more options then just Amon.
2) Guardians: would have been cool to still keep guirded. make it have more interesting avenues of approach. merc unit or solo gives it flexibility if u wanna think outside the box. maybe some dwarves to give the list punch for example. but the benefit to flameguard makes my heart sing. i have been playing since 1st book in mk1. i have a particular love for the flameguard but have found them meh in mk3. to take the full boat you used to take the covenant and carvolo with flameguard as a brick. now you dont take either solo and u have the same effect. but now if you still take carvolo you give them concealment. add defender`s ward and you get DEF 17 vs shooting or charges..........ARM 22 during mini feat, tough, no kd brick.
3)Exemplar Interdiction: working as intended already. merc options are nice to add a bit more depth. already strong theme.
4)Faightful Masses: this was an obvious change. Amon with light hitting at +5/+7 was not sustainable. i would not have been happy for us to get such an obvious overpowered build. If i dont want other factions to be broken. in fairness i dont want menoth to be either. it would have been. it is still likely are best theme and feeling fair about it.
I am super happy about our changes for all 4 themes. I think PP hit it out of the park if u include the changes they did to all other factions.
The only things i think are the next goals for PP to hit are these and then i think they are batting 1000%
1)Every main faction must have equal amounts of themes. for the illusion of fairness between factions. equality in themes i believe is a must.
2)If you look at wtc results. for the most part it seems to be a very well balanced game at the moment if you omit cryx. all other factions floated mostly 50% win except for 2 factions they were weak against and 2 they were strong against. Cryx is the only obvious outlier. i think they are about to get a surprise cid like cygnar did. i belive although might be wrong once they do that the overall health of the game will be at an ok lvl.
3)find a way to have every character jack to belong to at least 1 theme to allow certain caster/jack combos. i have all the characters. allow me to play them damn it. i payed money for them.
Overall i give PP a 2 thumbs up for today.
