I have been playing Menoth and enjoying it. I always wanted to start Circle as a Hordes army, but one of the Girls wanted the faction. Now she has just decided to play Trollbloods instead, so I have the perfect excuse to swipe her Circle and build it as my own army. I have the All in one Circle Army Box coming to the house later this Week, and I might have latched onto an old Mk. II two player box without the Everblight models. That would give me two casters (Kaya Wildborne, and Kromac Champion of the Wurm) I also ordered a set of Sentry Stone and Mannikins, as they seem to be useful. I am debating whether or not I should grab the Battlegroup box as well. That would give me Tanith, a Pureblood Warpwolf, Wild Argus and Gorax Rager. If Tanith and those models will work well with the other models I have, I will pick them up. A caster and three beasts for less than the price of a unit makes sense!
We are all expanding and starting our armies at once, so I will have chances to play against Cygnar, Khador, Skorne, Trollbloods and Protectorate of Menoth. We take our fun fairly seriously, but we do not do tournaments and Cathie and the Girls don't venture out into the local meta if they can help it.
Should I grab a Warpborn Alpha to go with the skinwalkers? Would any of the casters I have do well with a few Griffons? I kind of like the different Griffons and they look fun to paint, but I think they need to run in a large pack with either Una2 or another specialized caster. Can you splash a few Griffons into a Kaya list, or will I need to build the whole list around Griffons? I don't want to go with Wurmwood and build a specialized list right now for two reasons. I have to be able to scale the army up and down a bit, both in points and in intensity to play well against the varied armies within the household. I also want to keep extra purchases reasonable for now as I have just bought the equivalent of four and a half complete armies in the last two weeks! I also have to paint the rest of my Menoth, Cathie's Cygnar and then my Circle! (The Girls will paint their own.) I don't mind buying a few extra parts and units that will work well with what I have, but I can't pull a total overhaul before I even get my base army painted. When we do buy stuff, we tend to buy each army a model or two in one big batch, then we wait a while before doing it again. That way, nobody gets left out in the cold!
In the far future, I plan to get Druid Riders of the Mist, and possibly some Tharn Wolf Riders. My real reason for wanting the Druid Riders is I love the models, and I want to get Flamebringers for my Menoth army. I think they would look so cool charging each other on the table together, so it will happen someday! (Oops! I just let the model builder and roleplayer in me slip out!)
Thanks in advance, and I am so glad to see that this site came to the rescue. I was in the process of placing the huge order when I went to PP and saw the loss of the faction forums. I will do my part posting here to try to keep this site relevant. I don't know enough about Circle, yet, but I hope I can contribute to other parts of the site. (I just realized that I will be bookmarking over half of the faction sites before I am done!)
Happy Modeling,
Dave
