The lights can work well with him due to feat turn but it's a bit light on arcanists for my taste. For a starting point though it is decent.

Yeah, it is a good box. Vyros1 wants some Griffons so no problem with 2. The Aspis is also fine. Honestly, the whole box sees regular play. Add a Battlebox and you've got a really solid start of an army.

Personally I think it is a great Vyros1 army. It actually looks a lot like the list I already run with him at 75pts. For me I would add two more griffons two more arcanists and upgrade Pheonix to Imperatus for a really solid 74pt army. This is just a smaller scale of an already solid list I think the box is a great deal.

When the box content was announced, I found a quick discussion on ways to upgrade it to 75 points. Here's two options we came up with:
Possible 75pt upgrade #1: (Vyros 1) Dawnlord Vyros [+28] - Griffon [8] - Griffon [8] - Phoenix [18] - Sylys Wyshnalyrr, The Seeker [4] Dawnguard Sentinels (max) [18] - Dawnguard Sentinel Officer & Standard [4] Arcanist Mechanik [2] Arcanist Mechanik [2] Arcanist Mechanik [2] Lys Healer [3] Dawnguard Invictors (max) [16] - Dawnguard Invictor Officer & Standard [4] Dawnguard Sentinel Scyir [4] - Aspis [6] Mage Hunter Assassin [4]
Possible 75pt upgrade #2: (Vyros 1) Dawnlord Vyros [+28] - Imperatus [22] - Helios [34] Dawnguard Sentinels (max) [18] - Dawnguard Sentinel Officer & Standard [4] - Soulless Escort (1) [1] Arcanist Mechanik [2] Dawnguard Sentinels (max) [18] - Dawnguard Sentinel Officer & Standard [4]
Thoughts?

Personally I feel like the first one is a much better option, when I think about upgrading the 50pt box to 75pt I think about it mostly for new players which means using as much of the original box as possible since they would want to be using what they are buying and staying away from massive purchases like colossals as those are daunting for new players. Your first list does that really well using most all of the contents of the all-in-one.

Hey guys, I just found your forum, and perfect timing too, it seems. I haven't played much Warmachine for a time, due to my gamer-dyslexia kicking in and causing me to spend most of my game time playing other games, but a while back I ended up being gifted a Retribution Battlebox, along with Ravyn and a unit of Stormfall Archers. Being a Mercenaries player, I do also have Eiryss, Aiyana & Holt and Sylys that play nicely with Retribution.
With my pending tax return, I have been eyeing that shiny, new 50-pt. Retribution army box as a good way to expand my army, as I don't really know what I want first in the faction anyway.

Does anyone know if the Aspis is plastic or metal?
