It's all about Mercs! We're finally getting a few nice things and each battle is an uphill climb, but winnable. It always feels like an accomplishment when you win, but it's not so unlikely anymore.

Makes me wonder, why the **** i keep tripping over wurmwoods and unas everywhere. Because there's an appreciable difference between favourite faction and favourite couple of lists.

I have been playing Cryx since MK1 and are still my favorite. At the beginning of MKIII, I was a bit disappointed with the down shift in tricks and flavor, but I am finding it in new ways. Circle is also becoming a new favorite of mine very quickly.

Circle has a lot of interesting tricks and non-linear assassination threats. I was in a tournament a few weeks ago and was murdered by Kaya 2 who had laris teleport next to venethrax, then she teleported up next to venethrax for the flank and put me in the dirt. I never even saw the option for both to get in there. I was up on attrition and thought I was safe. So if that is a play style that appeals to you, then they are super fun.

I had more fun with Circle in mark 2. The internal faction balance is beyond crap and makes list building super boring. It is so obvious what should be in your list that it takes all the fun out of it. This leads to you playing more or less the same things time and again, not the most fun you can have. On the other hand what is good is really good and people like playing tournaments with whatever they feel is strong. So they bring that Wurmwood / xxx pairing regardless of their feeling for the faction. PP needs to get Circle units in to CID asap, i'm starting to lose my patience.

Ive had a blast playing Mohsar, Baldur2, Krueger, 2 Baldur1, and Tanith in Mk3... I Have wurmy but like to be a snowflake so I never really take him. We have other options but you are basically taking 2 units of sentry stones in every list base and one flavor of warpwolf at a minimum. I think the only List I have that doesn't use a warpwolf is my Baldur 2 Bones of Orboros list lol. I think we can still have fun we are way better off than say, trolls at the moment.

Maiden of Gears (CoC) all the way! The aesthetics and lore are what got me into the game and I haven't looked back, even though we're a limited release faction and haven't gotten any love in a long time (the Prime Conflux doesn't count imo).

I've hopped around a bit since Mk3 launched but I always keep coming back to Skorne even before the errata so pretty sure that's where I belong. I just love everything about them from the general feel on the table top (if not always the power level), to the characters and their society and culture to the look of their models. Unlike all other factions there isn't a single model in the whole line that I hate.

Admittedly, I started off as a Retribution guy, and I will likely stay a Retribution guy.
I like the look of the models, I like the lore, and I almost identify emotionally with them. But then as an autistic kid in high school, the people who weren't all the nice to me talked a ton about how much they thought elves were pansies, weak, and whatever else.
So the fact that there's a faction in Warmachine that clearly took inspiration from cyberpunk, TRON, and the Fremen from Dune, feels like its almost tailor made for me.
I've been playing/collecting them from the start, so I still get to be the 'I was playing Ret before it was popular crowd'. Its been really nice that they got a pretty big power boost, because in MK2, they seemed to be Convergence level most of the time.
The fact that they are now getting Nyss units as well (and hopefully more of them, maybe even a Nyss warcaster or two) has me really excited about where they could go in the lore and in terms of releases.
Also Goreshade.

I'm primarily a Circle player, though I dabble in both Cygnar and Legion, but I have a very love/hate relationship with the druids so I have obstained from voting. I also, find it a little amusing that many people who are Circle players don't feel the need to push their glory.

Khador, started out with CoC because Khador was "taken", played maybe 10 games and just went "noup, not my thing, Khador is", then never looked back. Though I like the CoC fluff, but I also like Cryx fluff and Mercs and....

Also Goreshade. Step right this way for your "Hipster Ret" badge; it's Garyth with a man bun drinking kombucha. Seriously though, that's really cool. It's such a good feeling when you can identify so strongly with your faction. I actually think I might just be getting there myself and it's pretty exciting. I'll be interested to hear your opinion on the new Ret stuff when it comes out; my wife plays Ret and I live in fear of her murder elves.

Ret to me feels like one of the factions (if not the faction) with the best internal balance. Because we can take so few mercs and minions, they don't have to necessarily worry that any of our units become stupid if we were able to take, say, Wrong Eye & Snapjaw. There's also not enough releases for release crossover (where a new release does the same thing in the same way as an old unit), and it was nice to hear that Retribution is considered a 'mainline' faction, and so with releases no longer having to maintain parity, they have said Retribution will likely get more stuff to catch up to the other mainline factions.
This book is one example of that.
I can't tell you how interested I am in that the Nyss are Retributions second 'race' (each mainline faction generally has two races that their units are made up of, from what I've seen. For the Legion, its Nyss and Ogrun for example). Winter elves are just fun, and I always liked their look.
I haven't branched out to other factions yet, mostly due to the fact that I'm unemployed and don't get a chance to play all that much.
