We're all taking crazy pills. You're too far gone man, just like the rest of us. Hey man, but I've got this great idea to make def 14 Forge guard and...WAIT DON'T GO! I have to. My Shield Guarding High Shields that I need the souls of are calling me.

Are Mariners really good? Really? This seems like a math!= reality issue to me. its a range 15 pow 14 on a heavy that can melee and comes at a low low price. puts out a bunch of damage over a game. clowns worry about the loader rule. it sucks with caine3, tho. he waitin for his choir duelist party next year.

Low low price of 14 points? Where I could have a nomad and dirty meg? Or two talons? Or spend one point and get a Rover that can shoot it's gun without a babysitter? Call me when his gun is pow 18 or causes stagger or something.

I don't. It's almost like we have one of them and it's not good, and I don't spend a whole lot of time fantasizing about jacks I can't play. Also, I try very hard to internalize the idea that "no dojo math survives contact with the tabletop". 14 pts for 3 boosted pow 14s over the course of the game feels bad and that's pretty close to a best case scenario.
Edit: My bad, two. I haven't looked at my Mule since the end of mk2. He's covered in Cygnaran dust and shame.

would it surprise you to learn there are 3 ranged heavies, and 5 if you count the rhulic ones? i always enjoy surprises!

Are you counting the Rover? Because "having a gun" and "being a ranged heavy" are not things I would conflate. By that logic, Rocinante would also be a ranged heavy (*surprise*), bringing us to 4 and 6. Another good argument against the Mariner, frankly, as for 4 more points, you lose 1" range on the gun, gain it back on the AoE, get 1" and 1 Pow on the melee, +1 arm (but -2def), Guard Dog and Defensive strike.
Also, as this entire thread is based around Caine's feat, I think its fair to say that Rhulic jacks need not be mentioned until you can find a way to put them in his battle group.

Caine3 is Alright in Cygnar but won't really be playable in Mercs until we have something equivalent to chargers, hunters or other good shooting jacks.
