Fair point about Denny2, I just haven't seen her since the Cryx CID so I don't really tech against her. I have played against Skarre1 several times however and I'd be curious to see how your list does against her. I don't think a boneswarm is enough however as it's never going to get a charge in until Skarre's feat turn. And if you ignore the engines then you better make sure Jaga-Jaga is safe for his next turn It's probably a playable matchup anyway because the croaks and vault are good against banes and the feat can cripple stalkers before they become a problem, but I'm not sure the mist speaker would help all that much considering you have no real way to put pressure on the wraith engines before they've already done two good turns of work. As a comparison my usual Cryx drops have Brine as a dedicated Wraith Engine seeker missile. This usually forces the Cryx player to play his engines way farther back to a point where they're just handing out the aura but not too threatening in melee or scenario. You just don't have that kind of threat in a Jaga Blindwater list... I didn't even think about Applied Knowledge but that would have been so sweet. At least it's still good on the Totem Hunter!

A bit late posting these, sorry. More gaming, more practicing a pair for NOVA maybe if I make it. Rask, WWFF -Soul Slave -Wrastler -Horror -Horror Meat Thresher Dahlia -Skarath Rorsh -Brine -Battle Boar Witch Doc Croc Gobber Chef Eilish Garrity Vindictus, Exemplar Interdiction -Hierophant -Reckoner -Reckoner Gade Gravus Exemplar Seneschal Exemplar Seneschal Choir (min) Bastions (max) Bastions (max) Knights Exemplar Knights Exemplar Knights Exemplar Two medium base units? Yum yum! That being said, I am not super enthused by this match up. His army is quick, and he got turn 1, and his feat is going to time walk me, and his medium base meat wall is backed up by 18 angry weaponmasters. Having a ton of single wound infantry backing up the multiwound line is actually a new experience for me to play into. I just think that I don’t have the number of attacks to cut it. Vinny Turn 1: True Path, Def Ward on the right Bastions. Gravus Desperate Pace’s them. Everything runs on up. Rask Turn 1: Can’t advance too much. Meat Thresher pops a Bastion. Dahlia puts up Haunting Melody and Mist Walker on herself for stealth. Skarath advances and puts up Counterblast. Rask puts Admonition on a Horror, drops a Veil of Mist. Brine and the Horror settle in behind the cloud. Vinny Turn 2: Reckoner advances, shoots Brine, misses. Reckoner advances, shoots Brine, hits. Vinny moves up, True Path, feat. A Bastion charges Brine, the Horror takes the opportunity to Admonition to block off any other Bastions from getting to Brine. 3 Bastions go in on the Horror, hurt him bad. Another 2 KE go in on the Horror and kill him. Lots of other stuff runs, a Senny runs to upset my charge lanes and zone. Rask Turn 2: What a beautiful semi-circle of targets that the Meat Thresher cannot get too, boooo! Wrastler moves up and tosses the Senny away. Battle Boar puts Primal on the Horror, Soul Slave puts Boundless on him. He charges the Reckoner, drags it up, then eats up 3 Bastions. Skarath rolls in, eats up 2 more Bastions and 2 KE for fun. Eilish puts Puppet Strings on Rask. Rorsh Diversionaries Brine forward. Rask walks up and Paralyzes Vinny. Ninja pig does ninja pig things. Lessons Learned: I usually play pretty conservatively so don’t often get Ninja Pig assassinations. Makes each one special! Matchup wise….I think I needed the assassination. Otherwise I am backing up and feating yet again, and ceding way too much scenario. Feels like I got a lucky break here. I also think if I win the roll and go first it is a totally different game.

Jaga-Jaga, Blindwater Congregation -Soul Slave -Wrastler -Boneswarm -Boneswarm Sacral Vault Husk Husk Longchops Totem Hunter Bone Shrine Croak Raiders (max) -Void Leech Croak Raiders (max) -Void Leech Bog Trog Ambushers (min) Boil Master and Spirit Cauldron Vindictus, Exemplar Interdiction -Hierophant -Reckoner -Reckoner Gade Gravus Exemplar Seneschal Exemplar Seneschal Choir (min) Bastions (max) Bastions (max) Knights Exemplar Knights Exemplar Knights Exemplar Yeaaaah Longchops is still in there. I win the roll, choose to go first. Gade preys on the Croaks, Totem preys on Gade because screw you Gade. I ambush one of the Husks in order to have that in my pocket for scenario. Jaga Turn 1: Signs, Battle Host, Grave Wind on Totem. Running. Longchops pops a shot at Gade, misses with the Trench. Worth a try. Running, running. Vinny Turn 1: True Path, Def Ward on Bastions, Desperate Pace somewhere. Folks run up. Also Turn 1 feat!!! Jaga Turn 2: Jaga is not nearly as limited by Vindictus’s feat as Rask is. Husk comes in on the right side. Pot puts Puppet Strings on Jaga. Ambushers run in. She Signs, feats, targets the Bastion unit with Def Ward, kills 2, drops remaining 3 to 1 HP, kills a 6th Bastion from the other unit. Sacral Vault clears out the remaining Def Ward Bastions. One Husk runs to engage. Another is shot down by Croaks to kill off 4 KE. Longchops drops a Trap. Totem Hunter goes and picks on the Senny. Swarms put up Swarm. Vinny Turn 2: True Path, Def Ward on the right side Bastions. They push through the trap, kill Bone Shrine, Longchops, some Croaks. KE, Senny, Gade all miss the Totem Hunter and get Poltergeisted. A couple of KE get onto the Boneswarm, as well as Gravus, take it down to a handful of boxes. A few KE take out a Husk as well, but not before two sprays go down. CP: 0-2 Jaga Turn 3: Jaga casts Signs, moves up and 2 KE and hurts Gravus a bit (poison is legit). Soul Slave puts Ghost Walk on the Croaks. They walk back and blow up the remaining Bastions. Bone Swarm uses its one bone to heal...1 HP of course. With just a mighty mind and spirit (and signs) it is able to chow through 2 KE and Gravus. Wrastler puts Rage on the other Swarm, it gets Puppet Strings and filled with bones. It charges the Reckoner on leaves it on 2 HP (both cortex). Other Croaks take out the KE Senny. Totem attacks and contests. CP: 1-2 At this point we had to break for time, so my opponent conceded, with only a last ditch assassination attempt left (Reckoner shot, x2 Immolations vs Jaga camping 1 and Battle Host). Lessons Learned: Jaga is still legit when it comes to chewing up infantry, the feat hits Bastions particularly hard it seems. Despite the success of these lists in these games, I do strongly believe that Vindictus is going to be a monster in EI and really encourage PoM players to check him out. Longchops did about as well as a model put into his position could be expected to I guess? Maybe?

Honestly, looking back on the games, Cinerators or Errants would have been so much better than bastions in both match ups. Errants because Moar bodies and Guns, Cinnies because Arm 21 is pretty darn durable and they are really good into medium based or heavy infantry thanks to fire swords. I made some changes to the list, next time I’ll make sure to put up a significantly less mopey performance

Been a bit quiet lately, but was able to sneak out and attend a team tournament at the NOVA Open. I brought out Rask Thresher and Jaga Jaga for some fun and adventure. Rask, WWFF -Soul Slave -Wrastler -Horror -Horror Meat Thresher Dahlia -Skarath Rorsh -Brine -Battle Boar Witch Doc Croc Gobber Chef Eilish Garrity Jaga-Jaga, Blindwater Congregation -Soul Slave -Wrastler -Boneswarm -Boneswarm Sacral Vault Husk Husk Mist Speaker Totem Hunter Bone Shrine Croak Raiders (max) -Void Leech Croak Raiders (max) -Void Leech Bog Trog Ambushers (min) Boil Master and Spirit Cauldron Longchops is out, long live Longchops. Round 1 Grand Exemplar Kreoss, Exemplar Interdiction -Fire of Salvation -Castigator -Devout Exemplar Bastion Seneschal -Dervish High Exemplar Gravus Vassal Mechanik Choir (max) Exemplar Bastions (max) Knights Exemplar -UA Knights Exemplar -UA Visgoth Rhoven and Honor Guard Totem Hunter puts Prey on the Bastions. Jaga Turn 1: Things run up, Vault gets 2 Souls, Pot puts 2 Corpses on a Boneswarm. Jaga puts Grave Wind on a Boneswarm, Battle Host on herself. Kreoss Turn 1: Things run up. Inviolable Resolve on Fire of Salvation, Sacrosanct on Kreoss. Jaga Turn 2: Play conservatively and back up mostly. Signs and Portents goes up. Pot finishes filling the Boneswarm. Husk runs into right flank, kills 5 KE and leaves a cloud, a couple Croaks are knocked down by Sacrosanct. Kreoss Turn 2: Not too much going on. He mostly just moves up. Rhoven lets the Devout ignore clouds, it charges in and misses the Croaks, but contests my flag. CP: 1-2 Jaga Turn 3: Croaks run, Jaga casts Signs and Portents and feats. Gius, Cassian, Seneschal, 2 Bastions go down. Jaga puts Rage on a Boneswarm, it charges FoS. Pot rolls 3 corpses, fills up Swarm #2. It gets Rage from Wrastler, and charges and kills FoS. Soul Slave puts Ghost Walk on Croaks, they bomb up the Devout but roll abysmally, also kill the final 2 KE. Sacral Vault puts some shots into Bastions, Croaks finish them mostly off. Husk runs to block left KE. Totem Hunter walks, jumps, kills final Bastion, sprints back. CP: 2-2 Kreoss Turn 3: He feats, beats the hell out of a Boneswarm, Castigator finishes both off. Devout goes into the Wrastler for a bit of damage. Gravus kills Totem Hunter, KE run away from the Husk. Rhoven kills a Croak, battle wizards another one down. CP: 2-2 Jaga Turn 4: Jaga casts Signs, Ghost Walk and Rage on Wrastler. Vault aims and shoots Kreoss. Croaks kill Rhoven and take shots on Kreoss. Wrastler charges Castigator, puts non-charge attacks onto Kreoss and finishes him off. Lessons Learned: Fairly grindy, but I felt pretty well in control on attrition. It does help that I have had a fair amount of practice into all manner of PoM infantry skew (Harby, Vindictus, ToM, etc). Clock was a serious issue with the number of attacks and Signs and Portents (as usual). At one point I had 18 minutes to his 40 minutes. Getting the assassination off was a good time saver, it turns out!

Round #2 His pairing was Anamag Primal Terror or Thagrosh Oracles, I opted to drop Rask. Thagrosh1, Oracles of Annihilation -Carnivean -Naga Nightlurker -Thyphon Throne of Everblight Throne of Everblight Nyss Shepherd Nyss Shepherd Sorceress and Hellion Spell Martyr Spell Martyr Mist Speaker Hex Hunters (min) -Bayal Ice Witches He won the roll and opted to go first. Thagrosh Turn 1: Things run up, Fog of War is up, Dragonic Blessing is on the left Throne. Rask Turn 1: My ability to move up is limited by his threat ranges. Mostly running up, Fury on Brine and Admonition on a Horror. The Thresher stays out of range of the Hex Hunters for Shadow Bind. Dahlia pops up Haunting Melody. Thagrosh Turn 2: Things move up, the Nightlurker gets crit Shadow Bind on the Thresher of course. Sorceress says no shooting. Rask Turn 2: Rask feats, puts Rage and Boundless on Brine. Eilish puts Puppet Strings on Brine, Shadow Walk too. Brine charges and kills a Throne. Rorsh Souie’s him back. Soul Slave puts Boundless on Skarath. It charges and kills the Naga, puts up Counterblast. CP: 1-1 Thagrosh Turn 3: Hex Hunters swing at Skarath, miss. Throne comes in and kills my objective. Rapid Healing on Typhon. CP: 3-1 Rask Turn 3: Upkeep Fury, Brine puts up Pig Farm and kills another Throne. Thresher rolls in and kills a couple of Hex Hunters. Soul Slave puts Boundless Charge on a Horror, it pulls in Typhon. Wrastler with Rage and Fury tries to finish it off, but leaves Typhon on 3 HP. Other Horror kills him. CP: 4-2 Thagrosh Turn 4: Carnivean charges and kills Battle Boar. Thragrosh feats back Typhon, kills Rorsh with Obliteration (no transfer targets as Brine is full). Hex Hunters Shadow Bind Thresher. CP: 6-2 Rask Turn 4: Back Horror frenzies. Rask paralyzes Thyphon, Wrastler kills him (Wrastler is proxy base in photo). Witch Doc contests zone, Horror and Soul Slave clear my zone. CP: 7-3 Thagrosh Turn 5: Couple of bites and contesting and he wins on scenario. Lessons Learned: Phew, tough loss. Clock was definitely a factor in pushing us to make crazy choices, as the game finished with me on 3 minutes and him on 1 minute. I had a chance to paralyze Typhon with Rask’s gun, but was afraid it would leave him on too low Fury and in range of too many shots. I could have Primal’d the Wrastler instead of Rage, that could have made a difference and RFP’d Typhon. Eilish could have walked forward, applied Puppet Strings and ported over to contest the back zone maybe? Having to deal with Shadow Bind on the Meat Thresher all game was really annoying.

Round #3 Mono list The Child, I opted to drop Rask. The Child ----Sacrifice ----Ruin ----Wrath -Cage Rager -Frightmare -Gorehound -Skin and Moans -Skin and Moans -Skin and Moans Death Knell Gremlin Swarm Gremlin Swarm Gremlin Swarm Gremlin Swarm Lady Karianna Rose Dread Rots (max) Rask opted to go first. Rask Turn 1: Fury on Brine, Admonition on Horror, everything runs up in a big ole’ land grab. Haunting Melody on Dahlia. Child Turn 1: Discord on a right Skin and Moans, Tantrum on Child. Things run up. Rask Turn 2: Feat, wait. Nothing is in good position for me to get at. Thresher puts shots into Cage Rager for fun. Child Turn 2: Rask feat and Admonition keep the Child honest, just another turn of positioning. Rask Turn 3: Alpha strike time. Brine gets Shadow Walk, kills off left Skin and Moans. Swamp Horror pulls in right Skin and Moans. Wrastler gets Rage on Skarath around Discord. Skarath kills Skin and Moans. Thresher shoots up Cage Rager some more. Horror finishes off Cage Rager. Battle Boar gets Primal, fails to kill objective. Rorsh Diversionaries Brine backward. CP: 1-0 Child Turn 3: A Horror Admonitions away from Rots, Dread Rots also beat up on Battle Boar some, but poor dice. Frightmare pops a couple of shots at Rask, he transfers 4 blast damage. Child Force Hammers Horror. Gremlin Swarm contests. CP: 1-0 Rask Turn 4: Skarath sprays down a couple Dread Rots. Swamp Horror gets buffed up and kills Skin and Moans. Other Horror gets Magical Weapon from Objective, eats Gremlin Swarm. Brine kills a Gorehound. Rorsh finishes off the objective with gun. CP: 3-0 Child Turn 4: Child comes up and successfully Force Hammers Rask away from the wall. Frightmare puts two shots into him. 1 transfer leaves him corroded and on 3 HP. CP: 3-0 Rask Turn 5: Clear both zones, win on scenario. 5-0 Lessons Learned: Oooooops, almost got assassinated there!

Round #4 Convergence of Cyriss, Locke or Axis. Rask once more. Locke, Destruction Initiative -Prime Axiom -Corollary -Diffuser -Inverter -Inverter -Cipher ADO ADO Reflex Servitors Reflex Servitors Elimination Servitors Attunement Servitors Optifex Directive Rask Turn 1: Running, Fury on Brine, Admonition on Horror. Locke Turn 1: Does Locke things I imagine. Gets a crit toss blast spell on the Swamp Horror, it and the Wrastler go backwards. Rask Turn 2: Some buffing, Horror goes forward, Overtakes off of a couple of Servitors and puts some damage on Prime Axiom. Rask buffs, feats. Brine does his thing, gets into combat with PA annnnnd….I forgot to Rage him. Long day. He still rolls hot, drops PA down to like 2 columns. Thresher gets four shots on it, 2 Shield Guard, 1 Snake eyes, 1 for some damage. Snake moves up. Lock Turn 2: Locke feat, casts Road to War. Inverter kills Brine. PA comes forward and kills Thresher. Conservator kills Swamp Horror, sorta (it leaves it on a few HP and he has to jump through a ton of hoops to kill it but manages it). Rask Turn 3: Drop a Veil of Mists, back up out of Locke feat, buff the Snake with Boundless, Rage, Fury, Shadow Walk, Puppet Strings, Dahlia bond, and it kills Locke. Lessons Learned: Mistakes all around, it was really late and we were tired. Had Brine been properly buffed, PA would have probably gone down, which would have made attrition quite interesting. Obviously he made a boo boo leaving Locke in range of Skarath. Overall, crazy day. Managed to eke out a 3-1, team in total went 3-1, 4th place finish.

Nice job! I just had my first Jaga game in mk3 this week and she is a real powerhouse. I wasn't a huge fan of her feat when it was changed in the CID but I found it to be more useful than I originally thought it would. In your list, are you putting grave wind on the totem hunter?

I have my issues with the feat, but the effect of it is pretty fantastic. I start with Grave Wind on Totem, often times will drop it to have extra fury for feat boosts, then occasionally move it over to a Bone Swarm. 15/17 with Arm 18 and Steady is pretty solid.

Gaming Update: Rask vs. Sorscha3: Ninja pig kill, textbook. Next! First games versus the terror that is MacKay. Helga the Conquerer, WWFF - Gatorman Soul Slave - Battle Boar - Road Hog - Road Hog - Road Hog Bone Shrine Bone Shrine Underchief Mire - Blackhide Wrastler Eilish Garrity, the Occultist Totem Hunter Swamp Gobber Chef Farrow Valkyries Farrow Valkyries Farrow Valkyries Captain Eira Mackay, Magnum Opus - Aurum Ominus Alyce Marc - Vulcan Railless Interceptor Railless Interceptor Prospero - Retaliator Dragon's Breath Rocket Herne and Jorne Anastasia Di Bray MacKay Turn 1: Everything runs up, Fail Safe on Vulcan. Helga Turn 1: Road Hog assault spray kills Di Bray. Helga puts up Def Ward and Dash. Everything else moves up to position. MacKay Turn 2: He starts off an assassination run with the Retaliator trying for a Crit KD on Helga, he fails and an Interceptor is too far out, so determines it is too risky. MacKay feats and she and two Interceptors kill a Road Hog, Battle Boar, and bucket of Valkyries. The Vulcan does the no healing aura and kills one Road Hog and leaves another on 4 HP. Helga Turn 2: Sad for me, Eilish is too far back to strip Fail Safe from the Vulcan. Mire puts Rage on the Wrastler and Road Hog. Wrastler goes in on Vulcan. Helga as well (she puts Distraction on MacKay which got rewound as BE casters are not in fact warrior models) and feats. Road Hog finishes it off. Valkyries kill Prospero by slamming him into MacKay. CP: 2-0 MacKay Turn 3: MacKay shoots Helga to death (no Distraction, whomp whomp). Lessons Learned: I like the list, not being able to shield guard the sprays was brutal. Also learned BE casters are not warrior models after committing to the Distraction got me. I want to tweak the list a bit, dump the Battle Boar, add Lanyssa, but it feels pretty crunchy thus far despite the loss. Otherwise lots of rules learning about Railless and postioning errors on my part. MacKay is brutal.

Sturm & Drang, WWFF - Targ - Battle Boar - Battle Boar - War Hog Underchief Mire - Dracodile Rorsh - Brine Dahlia Hallyr - Skarath Orin Midwinter, Rogue Inquisitor Eilish Garrity, the Occultist Hutchuk, Ogrun Bounty Hunter Bone Shrine Captain Eira Mackay, Magnum Opus - Aurum Ominus Alyce Marc - Vulcan Railless Interceptor Railless Interceptor Prospero - Retaliator Dragon's Breath Rocket Herne and Jorne Anastasia Di Bray MacKay Turn 1: MacKay Turn 1: Everything runs up, Fail Safe on Vulcan. I am shocked. Sturm Turn 1: Everything very sadly walks backwards. Sturm puts Polarity Field on Skarath, Decel up, and Vision on himself. Mire makes a cloud, Dahlia puts Mistwalker on Skarath who hides in the cloud. MacKay Turn 2: Her plans are foiled by my clever movement backwards!!! He takes a couple of pot shots, flare gets shield guarded off of Skarath. He does kill the Bone Shrine. Sturm Turn 2: I make a lot of misplays here. Sturm TK’s up Skarath and Mire, feats on the jacks. Mire moves up to keep Draco in control range, drops a cloud of Skarath and uses the Draco animus. Draco charges and blinds a Railless, Targ blinds the second one. Skarath moves into the cloud to spray the Dragon’s Breath Rocket….who are immune. Everything else tries to get into position, but I position my Battle Boars too poorly to Shield Guard the War Hog. CP: 0-0 MacKay Turn 3: Light jack uses it’s spray to remove the cloud and de-Stealth Skarath. MacKay feats, she and the Vulcan beat up on Skarath, War Hog, and Brine. Alyce is able to put Eyeless Sight on a Railless to remove Blind, it finishes off whichever of those heavies were left alive (Skarath makes it thanks to the power of Def 14). Was a bit frustrating because the impact could have been reduced if I had played better. CP: 0-0 Sturm Turn 3: Rage on Battle Boar, Rage on Skarath. Dracodile punks one Railless, Targ helps it Blind the other. Eilish strips Fail Safe from the Vulcan, Hutchuck Rusts it. Rorsh shoots it thrice, Skarath goes in, Battle Boar goes in, Vulcan goes down to an arc lightning from Orin of all things. CP: 2-0 MacKay Turn 4: Eilish, Dahlia, Skarath, Battle Boar, Hutchuck all go down. Railless scoots. CP: 2-1 Sturm Turn 4: Dracodile kills Railless #2. Something kills Prospero. Rorsh pumps shots into the objective, but no kill. Targ blinds Herne...or Jorne? The big one. CP: 5-1 MacKay Turn 5: Assassination run on Sturm leaves him on 4 health and on fire. CP: 6-3 Sturm Turn 5: Fire kills Sturm, but he toughs. Dracodile eats MacKay. Lessons Learned: Obviously I stole the Drangodile list off of Azahul, and I really like it (especially after I changed a bunch of things to suit myself). I am actually a bit grumpier on this game than the one I lost, as I feel like I played it much worse. I made poor positioning errors on Turn 1 that led me to have to TK two models on Turn 2 instead of putting up Deceleration. This coupled with mispositioning the Shield Guards probably cost me at least a War Hog that I didn’t need to lose. Player error though, not list error, so always room to improve. Targ was excellent with the Dracodile spray, Eilish as well. MacKay is still brutal.

Thanks for the batrep! It´s always nice to read or watch your batreps.
ould you like to explain your opinion? I really love the model of MacKay and more often than not I wanted to order it, but reading through her rules doesn´t really impress me. In your opinion, what are her strenghts?

She feels like she is on the top end of casters who do work by themselves, consistently turn by turn. 4 guns, a boosted damage feat, Reposition, and she is durable at Arm 19, 36 HP. Idk that her spell list is all that, and she is beatable by the right list, but she is a murderess all on her own before adding in any army assistance.
