I feel like Wenden is overstating her abilities.
You will rarely get the oppertunity to have that much focus on her unless you play super aggressive which will more likely end up with her dead because she is VERY fragile.
How she plays is really up to you as shes a bit of a jack of all trades master of none.
You REALLY need practice with her and shes not a caster you can just pick up and play without having a solid plan or experience because a lot of her success is knowing how to keep her alive and how to best use Scrapjack.
Generally my token models with here are Greylord Ternion for sticky clouds, Sylys for upkeep aids and Behemoth due to his focus efficiency. Build a list from there and then play games an tweak it. As I said, its generally best to build with a specific game plan in mind so build a list either geared to assassination or scenrio but not both.
Also, Gallows is basically never worth casting.
So I agree with herecomestomorrow on a few things here:
1) I am overstating her abilities a little. I was including fun factor, which.. man, is she ever fun! He's right about the focus thing, it just so happens I play her super aggressive so I'm usually getting 1-2 focus a turn against hordes, and hopefully some against warmachine depending on how many dudes there are.
2)You really, REALLY need to practice with her. This is so true. She's fragile and one positioning mistake can lead to her death easily.
3) I like his model choice, though I never use Sylys. But that's more a thing of me working with no mercenaries in the majority of my lists. I'd rather give her a wardog.
There are two things I don't quite agree with, and that's only because of my experience playing her. Herecomestomorrow has likely had different experiences playing her, so I would still take his advice to heart.
1) Gearing for either scenario or assassination. I'd say she can do both, because she's an assassination machine with good skills and a feat for controlling a zone. She's unpredictable where she can land, but being able to anchor to scrappy means she can also help clear a zone and get to a safer spot.
2) Gallows is not nearly that bad. If you've got nothing else to use your focus for, why not arc through scrappy and catch a model? Or perhaps you've just finished a run with her eating infantry and there is one more model just out of your reach (happens more than you think, she's only got a five inch reach)? spend the three and pull that model in, keeping two in order to unseen path away! If you can pull it far enough, you'll get one more soul. I've cast gallows a lot more than conventional wisdom would suggest. I wouldn't go overboard, but I really like having it available.
