Amazing Paint quality and love the effort on the highlighting.
It just proves that the Juggernaught is not on the outside, its about the Juggernaught on the inside!

Looks great! Is the mini-Juggy available by itself, or did you have to buy the whole 'Thagrosh the Painter' just to get that one bit?

Nice to see you get back into working on your Khador, I know the accident with the dino kinda konked your motivation.

Ok, this is officially the best thing ever. Mods, please close down the forums, we are done here. What? No! Mods, ignore him! These forums are the only thing that gets me through the day! But seriously, thanks Ganso! Looks great! Is the mini-Juggy available by itself, or did you have to buy the whole 'Thagrosh the Painter' just to get that one bit? Let's just say I have some Juggernaut-less Thagrosh models I don't need, if anyone wants them let me know. Nice to see you get back into working on your Khador, I know the accident with the dino kinda konked your motivation. Saw that did you? That was certainly a factor, but it's one of many; changes to my life situation have left me with less time than before, the lack of local players means I haven't played a game of Warmachine this year, I have developed a crippling addiction to Overwatch, and I'm spending a lot of time trying to learn how to use a CNC machine (which I originally picked up so I could use it to make terrain for Warmachine... ironic I suppose)... well, lately I've been trying to get back into it, I have another silly warjack waiting to be painted, one currently being assembled, and plans for a couple more beating at my brain. With luck it won't be as long before I finish the next piece.

That's funny, I like it! Would that be a Butcher or a Juggernaut on the table?

This made me smile. I love it! I wish the mini Juggernaut was available through the parts store. I'd love to pick one up just so I could paint it. Maybe at some point I'll have to break down and buy the Thags painter model...too many other things on my purchase list at the moment though.
Out of curiosity, what did you use for the oil? I like the effect and would love to try my hand at using it on a few of my upcoming painting projects.

Thanks! I glued down the snow using a PVA that's waterproof when dry. After leaving it for a few hours, I applied watered-down Anthoninan Camoshade - a GW wash that's basically a slightly greenish brown - around the body. This seeped through the snow more than I expected. After it was dry though, I applied a less diluted wash right agaist the body, so it wouldn't seep out as far, creating a bit of a gradient. Where needed I used a tiny bit of water to dilute the leading edge of the colour before it was dry. Once it was all dry though I lightly drybrushed a bit of white on top to try to make it look like the oil was seeping up from under the snow.
I actually did all this before applying the spray-on matt varnish, but I don't think the varnish had a noticeable effect on the final appearance of the snow.
BTW, the Thagrosh mini, at the original price, is around the price of a warjack kit. So even though the mini Juggernaut model itself is a tiny single-piece model that isn't realistically "worth" that much on it's own (ignoring the mark-up for scarcity), if you're using it for a warjack that you're actually going to put on the table then you're not exactly losing money, since the final result costs about the same. Well, that's how I justify it to myself anyway.
