I have read the tactica, and I have seen a number of people mention playing Thyra. But I have not seen any Battle-reps, or actual strategies, discussions, etc. The lore of Thyra and her Daughters/Flame-bringers and their general strategy has me intrigued. Therefore, I wanted to get a thread going discussing all things Thyra.

I built the following list shortly after Mk3 came out, using it ever since. Came in 3rd in a local tournament (maybe 12-14 players total) using it & Tristan2.
Thyra Hierophant Blood of Martyrs Indictor Wrack x1 min Choir Daughters x2 max Flame Bringers KE + UA x2
So far, I can't get over the lack of armor-cracking in Guardians to be willing to drop the KE. List works in waves, with Daughters + Flame Bringers hitting first (ponies getting occultation if faced with significant shooting, silence of death if I want them going after jacks) to tie up shooting & kill infantry. By the time this wave has been basically dealt with, the heavy-hitting second wave (jacks, KE) comes in to kill whatever is left.

My current thyra list is this. Thyra Sanctifier BoM Errant boat 2 KE boats 2 KES Cinerators Choir and 2 vassals and a wrack In Exemplar theme.
Use her feat and extra deploy from theme to jam weapon masters down their throat.
Teleport around to stay safe.
You have a to hit buff and a to damage buff.
Occultate the errants and watch your opponents confused faces as they are like shit blast damage won't kill those.
BoM can get up to pow 22 with blessed. She melts heavies.
Jack heavy lists get surprisingly munched.
Your exemplar will one shot 26 shredders no problem.
You can deny killing spree and berserk with errants so some things that infantry clear well stop being so well at it.
It is a good list.

My current list that I have had success with a fair amount: Thyra - Guardians theme Bom Reckoner Crusader Devout Max Cleansers + UA Daughters (Ambushing) Max Flamebringers Nicia Vassel x 2 Wrack
Usual strategy is to throw the flame bringers up a flank with the intention of catching them in feat top of two, daughter ambush, BoM hangs out near the cleansers so he can get mad when they die, Cleansers themselves mini feat and assault to kill off support models/chaff, Crusader is for trading up, Devout is to keep Thyra alive from spells (lost to spell assassination a lot early on in MK3, may not be needed now) and the Vassals power the Reckoner and BoM.
Do not be afraid to go on the offensive with Thrya, she is a great combat caster, and so long as you have her teleport upkept - and why wouldn't you - she can often teleport to safety if she botches up a caster kill.

I love all of these replies. So many ways to play a caster that I have not heard much about.
Doopsie, If paired with an armor cracking list would you still use KE? Or would you swap for more speedy killy things?
WolfBane, So much KE, Had not even considered playing Thyra outside of Guardians, let alone a different theme, really want to try it now!
DicebeDamned, I will be trying her with a Vigilant first (21 defense should prevent a lot), but I will watch for the spell kills and switch if it is an apparent issue.
Thanks again for all the advice!

Thanks again for all the advice! Well...Tristan2 with 6 heavy jacks IS a armor cracking list, sooo..yes. That said, I took thyra more early in Mk3, when pretty much every list was 3-4 heavy jacks. Will want to see what happens with SR2017, if lists get more balanced I'd probably make a swap.

I'm working on the theory that Thyra actually does really well in the Exemplar theme. Blood Of Martyrs is, on paper, terrifying with Blessed weapons.

BoM is the crutch of the list so you have to be careful how to deploy your 13" non linear threat pow 22 griveous blessed take down mat 9 or 11 side stepping, remove from playing missile.

My Thyra list: conflictchamber.com/#c2201b_-0c3K3N1r1X3Sf73z3B3B302M2MdS2K2LProtectorate Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Guardians of the Temple (Thyra 1) Thyra, Flame of Sorrow [+29] - Blood of Martyrs [16] - Devout [9] - Guardian [15] Nicia, Tear of Vengeance [0(5)] Pyrrhus, Flameguard Hero [0(5)] Vassal of Menoth [3] Wrack [1] Wrack [1] Wrack [1] Choir of Menoth (max) [6] Daughters of the Flame [10] Daughters of the Flame [10] Flame Bringers (max) [17] Temple Flameguard (max) [11] - Temple Flameguard Officer & Standard [4] 1 unit of Daughters Ambushes; Vengeance isn't that great for them but it's nice and gives your opponent something to think about. The list is fast and the Flame Bringers can do a solid amount of work. Occultation on them is A+. Abuse the hell out of Reposition 5 with Parry. The TFG are a decent holding unit and can inflict some harm with CMAs. Nicia is an amazing harrying solo. Pyrrhus is free, so why not, and he's another potentially dangerous piece your opponent has to think about how to remove. The Devout is mostly there to Shield Guard Thyra if something tries to knock her down. I have also done this with a Templar instead of the Guardian - the Templar is another potential Shield Guard; the Guardian makes it easier to get out Stranglehold. I haven't tried it in SR2017 but I think it should still work ok. Especially if your opponents are used to slow Menoth lists this one is a curve ball for them.

I tried a similar list recently and was pretty impressed. The difference is I had a Sanctifier and Templar (for a second shield guard) instead of Reckoner/Crusader and a second unit of Daugthers instead of cleansers. Early on I put Occultation on the Flamebringers and Silence of Death on the non-ambushing unit of Daughters, later moving it to the Flamebringers once the Daughters died off The only thing I really miss was having access to Hierophant in theme Thrya may be my new go to against things like Ghost Fleet and Trencher theme. Access to No tough and remove from play on Flambringers or Daughters with Vengeance is a great advantage against those type of lists

Combo Smite has a few livestream battles with Thyra on their Youtube page. The lists used are detailed there but they are Guardians of the Temple lists as well

Seeing the Exemplar theme lists has me interested.
I currently want to own 2 Units of Flame bringers and need daughters and flameguard. I really love flame bringers models.
I may test her out...she has a really interesting kit and spell list...
