Hey All, decided we could try and spice up this section of the forums with some completely healthy random speculation on two themes I think we will certainly in the near future. Lets start with the druid theme! Blackclad warlocks Brenos the Elderhorn Non Character Warbeasts Blackclad units Celestial Fulcrum Blackclad Solos Sentry stones Shifting Stones Gallows Grove For every 20 points spent on blacklad models/units /battle engines in this army you may take 1 small or medium based solo free of cost Light warbeasts and blackclad units in the army gain Advanced deploy Friendly faction models in this army with the Fury manipulation or magic ability special rule gain +1 to magical attack and damage rolls while within 3" of another friendly faction model with Fury manipulation or Magic ability special action. Spell spam and up field deplyment? Eh? Living Beast theme: Circle Warlocks Non Character Living Warbeasts shifting Stones Gallows Grove Blackclad wayfarer Solo's Druid Wilder Solo's For every full 20 points of warbeasts int his army you may take a free small or medium based solo free of cost. Warbeasts in this army Gain +1 Fury Warlocks in this army gain attuned spirit: (friendly faction Warbeast) Too op? +1 fury is a lot but we have to start somewhere Add your own speculation! New theme specific models? Better special rules? New Casters! Kromac 3? ? Lets have fun with this

I think a living beast theme could be cool. Circle to me, has been about crazy attack vectors and striking hard, but unable to stay still and tank hits.
I was at the Scottish Deer Centre at the weekend and one of the things they have there is a falconry show. One of the falcons they had there was lightning quick and I found out that they rely entirely on killing from the impact hit as they are pretty weak without speed.
So based on that idea, I think it would be cool if a living beast theme gave warbeasts a boost for moving a certain distance from where they were at the start of the activation. So say you get +1 str for the turn or 1st attack for every 2 inches away from your starting location you move up to a max of +3 or 4 etc. The benefit for wolves is obvious, but it would also be cool for satyrs. Gnarlhorn counter slamming at +3 str, rip horn getting stronger through bulldoze, shadowhorn getting stronger through leap. Griffons going crazy with una2 speed boost.

I think Mohsar2 is in the pipe, and he will be a warlock unit with other omnipotents. (That one's for you, Mac ^^ )
I think there will also be a druid unit of purely offensive spellcasters, perhaps like the electromancers. 3 person non-character unit. Perhaps they can do similar attacks to the Fulcrum, but only one at a time and each can choose independently.
Sadly, I think Sentry Stones will only end up in Bones - PP is still stuck in mkII where shifting stones were the auto-include crutch that every list needed, and hasn't updated that thought with the changeover. Despite the insider stating that "terrain generation" is core to our identity. Ooooh, maybe we get a unit that somehow creates terrain, or a solo like Janissa? Character solo who can place a 5" forest completely within 8" of him/herself. Really, anything that can place forests in a way that we can proc prowl or hide behind them.
Honestly, I don't know that we are going to get a "living beast theme" - I think that is just every theme other than Bones. I think +1 fury is crazy powerful - can you imagine facing down a Ghetorix with 5 fury under Kromac1? 14" non-linear threat BEFORE 6 potential overtake moves? 16"+7 overtakes if you hit with the Hunter's Mark...
I want to see Field Marshal: +2 speed. Fixes sooooo many problems. I think AD on lights and blackclad units would be too much - probably just one or the other, and probably just one per X points of Y.
Oh! What about "all place effects generated by friendly faction models gain +2" of range"? Or "Friendly Faction models can be teleported up to twice/turn by shifting stones"? Basically, any theme ability that gives us back some of the old janky angles of mkII.

Your living beast theme excludes Una1 ... why does nobody love her? Also to make the living beast theme SR2017 compatible you'll need at least one unit in there (no I don't count shifting stones). I really think the living beast theme will be combined with the druid theme though. It will likely do something similar to POD in trolls with free upkeeps turn one and extra 2" on deployment zone.

I think they can catch both in one theme similar to forge of war of retry:
Blackclad warlocks Megalith Non charachter beasts Fulcrum Blackclad units Blackclad solo Shifting stones Sentry stones
25+ points of warbeasts or be free small solo or attachement
+1 to start
Some random bonus

kuririnad I was hoping for Mohsar 2 riding a modified fulcrum Buttttttt Mohsar leading a unit of omnipotents sounds amazing! Lets start sending Letters to PP guys Make Mohsar 2! also good point about sentries I just find them to be a crutch in faction and I love the unit regardless (loved them even in mk2 when they sucked before brad theme just due to the aesthetic of angry stick creatures) streetpizza Ill edit that to include Una 1 and psssshhhhh who needs to score with units when you have Fury 5 stalkers and Purebloods

Fury 5 stalkers reminds me of how I used to play HALO.
"What game are we playing? Capture the-" "SLAYER" "King of the-" "SLAYER" "Team-" "SLAYER" "Oddb-" "SLAYER" ...

I'll be shocked if we don't see one of the benefits for one of our themes being: place two 3/4" forest templates within 20" of the board edge. Between banes getting fog, and Northkin being shocked, we'd damn well better get some terrain-generating themes.
I think +1 fury is too strong for a theme benefit, as is the magic to hit/damage +1/+1.
The beast theme (if not combined with a blackclad theme) will definitely have at least one unit allowed, just like Heavy metal, forges, and jaws - I would guess druids, but depending on the specific bent of the theme, it could be pretty much anything.

Considering how blah our blackclad units are I don't see the +1/+1 being all that powerful in practice. Now...combine that with a fulcrum annnnnddd yeah things could get silly with certain casters but in a theme where all you have are pushes and low pow spells you really need some extra UMPH. I do agree plus 1 fury flat is way over the top but a druid can dream If we are being realistic then yeah the beast theme is actually just a blacklad theme with a random beast benefit like: "beasts in this theme may casts thier animi for one less" or something cooler like "beasts in this theme gain apparition" and the other benefits will be free solos and and probably some forests aoes.

I think Lulu has the right idea.
It'll be:
Loki Brennos Non-character living warbeasts Blackclad Wayfarer Druids Druid Wilder Shifting Stones Gallows Groves Una1
For every 25 points of living warbeasts, gain a free solo or unit attachment. Benefit: All warbeasts gain pathfinder. Place a 4" forest at the start of the game.

I don't think Loki will be included, But as Brennos is a magic goat, I could definitely see him in a druid/living beast theme.
I like the gain two forests at deployment bonus.
I don't think +1/+1 is busted if it requires you to be within 3" of another blackclad.
I also like FM: Apparition, but I don't see the fluff behind it. FM: Pathfinder is too weak imo. We currently have snacking, tracker, and healing in the other themes. We also have hyper aggressive on Kromac2, repo3 on Kaya3,and a few others. What if we got Tactician (living warbeast)? Or something that increased control range by 2"? I'm trying to think of things that can have a fluffy reason coming from druid master and familiarity with living warbeasts...

Gaining 2 4" forests on deployment would be amazing. We would no longer be forced to play wurmwood/baldur2 to have a chance against ranged lists. It would open so many new pairings.
But Loki will either be in the living beast theme or added to the wild hunt because they said all models will have a theme by December.

Loki may or may not be in any of the themes - we don't know if by 'every model will be available in theme' they meant 'every model will be independently available in theme. Loki can be taken with Tanith, and that might be enough for PP.

If they are only 20" from our table edge then I hate to say it but we will still need to rely on those two casters to carry us through a typical gunline.

I don't know about that - if the theme allows Sentry Stones, then you might able to use the forests to hide the Stones for an extra turn, then leapfrog them over the forest to protect your army, buying you another turn (since you normally get only one turn of Sentry Stone protection against a serious gunline.) Might be worth testing.
