Hey, folks.
I currently play Cryx and Legion as my main armies.
As a bit of a change I also have Skorne - I like that they can take a hit or two plus they have a variety to their looks.
However, I am tempted by some of the lovely looking new Protectorate 'jacks. This got me into reading more on the faction (plus I seem to play against them.a fair bit). I like the sound of the casters, plus incineratingnstuff and getting buffs from taking damage.
I am tempted to swap Skorne for Protectorate.
Is it a fair assessment to say that Protectorate are slower than Skorne, not as hard hitting but able to take more of a hit?
What other differences might folks say there are?

I woudnt say we take a hit better. Skorne can make some extremely Tanky lists on par of some of our tankiest of lists.
But we do have some nice tarpit units that are massive distractions and take a massively excessive amount of attacks to get rid of.

Skorne and protectorate are two of the most similar factions in the game. The main difference is that protectorate has better infantry and skorne has better beasts. The differences there are pretty minor though and you'll find yourself falling into the same list archetypes with both factions.

ha, ha. Skorne is Menoth's younger brother. Quite literally, when they made hordes, Skorne was practically a carbon copy. Now, not much has changed. Both have a full utility belt; neither have all the right tools in the the same pockets x.O; Skorne has more magical capability than Menoth, but Menoth can definitely hit harder, longer, and stronger. The issue is that Skornology makes sacrifices necessary in order to make a powerful list, while Menoth can still fit everything that's necessary inside the right list... just not in an ideal way. Example, Skorne has the necessity of taking a Krea, Aggy, and beast tamers to fully utilize their forces, but you can't have all three (unless you want half your force to exist souly for support). Menoth needs the choir, likes the book, but their best casters for jack buffs need jack martials (removes them from battlegroup and costs more points) or additional support to properly fuel the jacks, weakening the lists. Our casters that like infantry lack in punching power, making expensive character jacks necessary. They do plan on sooping up Skorne a bit and Menoth is looking up as well. Menoth's fire spam lists absolutely walk over mass infantry lists with little fire proofing, which is what all the new themes are aiming at thanks to the massive heavy jack spams that are dominating the tournaments. Skorne's secondary list is now getting a theme tailored to it (still in testing!) and different casters are becoming more vital.
