Rowdy definitely needs to be in some theme. Heavy Metal makes sense, but styker's a storm dude too... Also what's our next theme force? PP may hold some characters back in anticipation of that. Possible candidates? 1) Science guys (weathermen) 2) Morrowan/old skool 3) Ranger/recon 4) Merc crossover None of our current characters would seem to fit into any of the above except that weathermen doubles with storm. Gallant is Morrowan. Hurrah! I imagine Cygnar is gonna go a while before getting another theme. Once Gravediggers drops, we'll have 95% of our stuff in themes. I doubt we'll have a seperate theme for stormsmiths. They're already in SD.

So if the current plan is to get every model into a theme, then Cygnar is actually done. Precursors are reputed to be in the Laellese theme (being mercenary models). Rangers are in Gravediggers, Sword knights in Heavy Metal. Long Gunners in Kingmaker. For where we could go from here? Well I don't know. Weathermen as a book would be my personal favourite as I love Stormsmiths and find the idea of a weird tech theme to be awesome.

It would be nice to have characters in themes from a mechanics stance you have to remember that PP has alot of confirmed instances of making mechanics bow to fluff. Character jacks are the personal property or pet projects of their warcasters. Stryker owns rowdy and most casters are never far away from their characters. You could argue for rare cases of a caster loaning a personal jack but I don't think there's ever been an example of that in the fluff. I'd love to take a bunch of character jacks in theme but it makes sense that they are an extension of specific casters personal power. It also allows them to make them a little more powerful as they can be tweaked around specific casters knowing that they will only be ran with other casters(rarely) out of theme where the missing "free points" compensates for them being mildly under costed.

This is a well meaning theory, but it falls on a couple of pitfalls: Some Jacks are more closely associated with a caster than others. I don't feel like Rowdy or Thorn need to be in a theme alone simply because they are pretty well associated with those characters. But Dynamo and Brickhouse? They feel more like prototypes than characters and there doesn't seem to be a reason that they can't work for anyone. Another thing is that adding characters to themes allows for more fun choices in list building. Certain characters that are thematically appropriate can spice up some casters options and can make some fun interactions outside of the ones with their parent caster. Dynamo isn't just good with Nemo, he'd be cool with other casters too, for instance. Finally, Some characters just don't work that well with their owner. Brickhouse is the textbook case. He does very little for Maddox but would be super fun with some other casters like Kraye and Darius and Jakes 2. Giving an opportunity for B and C list casters to have access to fun character synergies might help them see more play. And if there is anything we should all want its more cool models hitting the table. I think Ace for Sons of the Tempest (and a rules redo, but not necessarily), Brickhouse for Heavy Metal and maybe Dynamo for Storm Division in Cygnar. The other characters aren't necessary as they are strongly associated with their warcaster.

Rowdy definitely needs to be in some theme. Most definitely. I think PP should really let me self insert into their game!

... 2) Morrowan/old skool ... None of our current characters would seem to fit into any of the above except that weathermen doubles with storm. I'm always up for more Morrowan stuff. I mean, Gallant obviously fills the character jack element, but other than that Morrow needs more representation. Might be an appropriate time for it soon; with Grymkin coming out Morrow or his clerics might be well served with some more forces. Cavalry maybe? Perhaps a support solo, something that blocks enemy soul and/or corpse collection or something?
