So recently a good friend of mine moved back to the area and after he heard that we play WMH regularly he wanted to get into it, specifically Cygnar. He doesn't have much money to put into the game so I was going to suggest the All-in-One box but I wanted to make sure it's actually a decent army. He has no real intention to be super competitive but I don't want him buy models he won't use. Secondly do you have any advice on building up to 75 from the all in one? Thanks in advance for any help.

The All-In-One is a solid deal, and a good place to start.
You get:
Kara Sloan 28* -Defender 16 -Defender 16 -Charger 9 -Reinholdt 4 Trencher Infantry 16 -Trencher Infantry Officer and Sniper 5 -3x Trencher Rifle Grenadier 6 Captain Maxwell Finn 6
That gets you a 50 point army, and it's pretty good.
I'd suggest trying it out at 50 points before expanding. Sloan likes Hunters, and Gun Mage Captain Adepts. So those would be good additions afterwards.

Keep in mind the shift toward theme lists. If you want to take gun mages, you basically have to play Sons of the Tempest, so no Trenchers.
Unless he really wants to go the out-of-theme route, I suggest you ask him if he likes Trenchers, gun mages, or Storm Division and plan accordingly from there.

It always depressing for new players to find a model that they think looks cool only to be told they can't use them plus he is not super interesting in being competitive. Thanks for the advice everyone I'll probably suggest him getting the box.

So we did end up going with the Cygnar all in one but I was thinking and it would be great to be able to help my friend magnetize his Defenders but I've never done it before as I'm not a Cygnar player myself. Does anyone have any advice/tutorials on how to magnetize that kit specifically.

Does anyone have any advice/tutorials on how to magnetize that kit specifically. Magnetizing it for the defender and Ironclad isn't too difficult. But the Cyclone's chain guns are mounted on its forearms. It's also annoying because the Ironclad wields its hammer in the left hand, meaning that there are lots of magnets to be used. Use small diameter magnets because some of the places you need to put them in are thin. Don't worey, the plastic is light so small magnets work fine. Be sure to countersink all magnet locations for a good fit. If you want to magnetize for all 3 jacks, then you'll need magnets in the following places: Left shoulder socket Defender gun Left arm-shoulder connection Right arm-hand connection Left arm-hand connection Left fist Right fist Defender hammer Ironclad hanmer Right forearm Left forearm Both Cyclone Guns Head socket All 3 heads

Been working on those myself the past few days and realized something.
You actually do NOT need to magnetize the chainguns. Sticking a little dab of hobby clay inside the "bump" is more than enough to hold them in place and comes out easily after the game is over....in the unlikely event you actually want to play them anyway.

...in the unlikely event you actually want to play them anyway. Cyclone? Man - I was down on that jack for a long time during the start-of-mk3 armor spam days. Then my friend got a siege crawler and started playing forge guard spam. The cyclone is great into that. Considering getting a second one.

The Cyclone is strong with Caine3, doing more damage per point than a charger during feat turn by a good margin. I don't really like the random rof, but the jack does have a good quantity of attacks for damage buffs.

My meta is heaaaaavy into big armor and defense, and Legion is the most played faction. Cyclone hasn't seen play since my first couple games as a result.

But that said...if you don't want to use the clay trick, a good FLGS will have what you need. Look for the packs of magnets and find the ones that are about the same size as the "bolt" that's part of the sculpt.
You're going to lose some detail doing this either way, but the way I'd do it is to drill into the bolt and either replace it with the magnet (so it's flush) which may cause the chaingun to be a bit loose, or to drill it a bit deeper so that the magnet on the chaingun can fit inside the hole slightly.
Again due to this being on an exterior surface when not in use you may not want to do this if you're picky about having a really great paintjob on your model which can be slightly improved on by putting in the magnet AFTER you paint it so it kind of looks like the bolt on its own.

That sounds like what I did when magnetizing a friend's Cyclone. I also used to greenstuff on the guns to try to get them to fit the arm better; it worked, though not quite as well as I had hoped.

But seriously, there's no reason to. A tiny dab if clay applied to the inside of the little "bump" on the chaingun will make it stick just fine.
