Hi Does anyone know where you can access the results from lock and load? I was interested to see how Menoth went and what sort of lists were used.
Thanks

Warning: you are likely to be dissapointed. L&L was not good for us

There is no real reason for us to have suddenly done better than before (none of the recent competitions have been good for us). Our factions great prize of being "balanced" means we generally lose out to all the other factions who are inherently less balanced, so they have strong and weak lists. Menoth appears to be the chosen faction for no-thrills solidarity and therefore we benefit by having lots of viable list/unit combinations but all pretty middle power level. This will never reflect well in competition which automatically skews/metas towards the strongest lists (this is not necessarily a good thing), that as mentioned before won't appear in a faction like ours... unless we work out how to break one of our theme lists...

I'm pretty sure the highest PoM got was 28th in one bracket, 40th in another or at least very close to those numbers. PP's got to decide what they want, either PoM is ideal and they're doing a bad job of toning down the other factions or PoM is not ideal and they're doing a bad job at bringing us up. Either way it feels like we either arrived at the destination early and are waiting for everyone else to catch up or the ride left without us.
EDIT: We did win one big tournament somewhat recently but I'm unaware of the tournament's conditions like the meta and whatnot. The two lists were a Sevvy 2 gunline list with Idrians and the EoT, the second was an Amon list with Creator's Might running 2 Indictors, 3 Crusaders, 2 Devishes, and a Devout iirc.

There is also the "Wow" factor. People tend to play stuff that is exciting and interesting. If you play 5+ factions, as many competitive players are wont to do, you'll bring whatever has the best shinys and then also whatever is most interesting.
Even if Protectorate has a fair chunk of stuff that is competitive, we are seriously lacking in the "Gee, this is a really cool set of mechanics that work well together!". We're basically relatively boring to play overall.
Basically all the other factions have cool sportcars that they get to drive to work. Protectorate has to take the dirty, but very functional, pickup truck to work. It gets the job done, but it's not flashy or interesting.

I'd like to see frequency of PoM players on the standings. Not saying the ones who were there were deficient in skill, but it'd be logical to assume that the greater the number of players in a particular faction, distribution will cause more of these players to rank higher.

It's also the competition. If you plan on winning a tournament, PoM won't do as you almost auto-lose to Haley2, which is a highly likely caster to be seen.

Might as well sell all yer minis, boys. Hey, Tom Guan sold his, so that means his skill will disseminate throughout the faction since the lot got swept up in an hour, right? (I'm joking, btw. In case that's not obv.)

Might as well sell all yer minis, boys. What? Faction is terrible, everything sucks. Just give up a sell.

Faction is terrible, everything sucks. Just give up a sell. No-one said it was terrible.. did you read the comments? Plus being terrible and being not-competitive presently are different things. Thankfully people can impartially just go by the tournament results rather than choosing: 1. everything is terrible or 2. unicorn/rainbow vision

If I'm wrong, carry on.

Yeah pretty sure that Paradox, given his history, is purely being sarcastic as there is often a hew and cry about PoM being unplayable, etc. in these sorts of threads (and yes, I'm exaggerating).
That said, yeah, Protectorate did not fare well at L&L. I do agree that looking at number of entrants is important; however, its been pretty consistent throughout Mk III that Protectorate might show well occasionally, but it seems to be rare to actually win a sizable events. At a certain point, the data set certainly becomes sizable enough to be able to draw conclusions. I think dmorktry pretty much hits the nail on the head. Either we are really well balanced in a game that has a decent amount of imbalance, or we are just not up to par with the other factions that are "balanced".
Personally, I don't really dispute the idea that in a certain sense Protectorate does offer pretty good balance. Nothing seems greatly overpowered and there are only a few things that are clearly too underpowered. However, we are still living in a world where certain factions seem to have overly powerful theme lists they can run whereas by and large, our themes, at best, seem to give us a shot and little else. Being able to bring in a Merc (current CID) might certainly help us, but then, it will almost undoubtedly help those other factions too.

As for attendence, we had 2 players at the IG and I don't think we had any in the masters.
