I expect that,, assuming we see an Ellish nerf, he would see play under maddox since she doesn't need Rhupert for pathfinder.

It is sad that now he has to compete the one slot with Eilish so no one fields him. Even if Eilish is no longer the stupid auto include model through the game, various solos such as Rhupert Carvolo, Harrison Gibbs, Ragman, Alten Ashley and Lanyssa Ryssyl have the more advantage over him. Jesus, hell of a proclamation. Not all lists are the same, not all styles are the same. I can see myself occasionally bringing Acosta Not all lists are same, but I suppose that most Storm Division list will take at least one Storm Knight unit, isn't? Most of them I was said are also have the synergy with them, or bring the unique technics(Grievous Wounds, for example) on the list. And you are not short of the blades to crack armor on the theme either. I do think that Acosta will have good synergy when he become the friendly Faction model. But, it is a totally diffrent story if we have to choose one among them, and have to choose who is the best choice to run the list better.

Fury isn't bad on him, though it does lower defense so you need to be fairly careful with its application as the where it drops his defense to is in the zone of not hard to hit whatsoever. Still. If something positively needs to freakin' die... A Fury'd Charging Savio is a fairly scary thing with some threat extension. True, although I'd imagine furying a cloud of stormblades would do more damage. But imagine if you got a feared assassination off. Threat 17"? Mat 9 Pow 16 weapon masters? Essentially he'd be little butcher. For sure, but cycling fury onto acosta as a missile certainly has uses. No doubt more mileage will go with it being on stormblades, but there's a ton of ad hoc use for a dual weapon master getting +3 PS. This is why i like him with Jakes2. Positive charge means he's hyper accurate, hitting very high defense on average rolls and hits like a freight train, and with bullet dodge he's a menace to connect with, and dangerous to even try with dodgy hit chances. Finally, parry with the feat means you can extend him via a run into something that can't boost so the liklihood of him getting hit is low-ish (assuming there's no bounce mechanics on the opposing board), and then pop feat to get a no-risk disengage into a nice assassination target, and additionally forcing your opponent to deal with a highly dangerous and costly to get rid of in many scenarios solo in their mid to back line. I've always liked Acosta, but knew what separated him from pretty good (and lets face it, in this game, "pretty good" = shelved a lot of the time in favor of "great", "amazing", or "Totally balanced when i use it, needs nerf when someone else does" power level models) to great was in faction buffs. This gives cygnar the opportunity to spread those wings a bit. Just a shame that it's in just one theme. Regarding the "but will acosta get taken over other options". With Maddox, positively. With the rest... good question. I think lots of people would agree that terrain mitigation is a big factor with Storm Division. So i can see the appeal of Rhupert and other damage extenders. THat said, there are casters that Acosta gets some truly hideous mileage out of... I keep coming back to Jakes2 on that front. At least they are doing their best to encourage some experimentation.

Keep in mind that Savio doesn't have to be your one choice for a merc solo if you're playing in Storm Division. He's allowed in that theme anyway.

They removed it from the list and made him compete with other support models, essentially killing any chance to see him in play. People will likely try it one or two time "for fun", but then they will realize that no melee bullet is worth more than the many support or toolbox solos that compete with him.

"why have 2 Pow 13 weapon master attacks when I could add +2 to some other attacks?"
Sometimes it's better to have hitting power in a solo that has a seperate activation.

Indeed, sometimes we do need for a surgical knife, which is our weak spot if we need a melee one(and taking Storm Division removes our ranged surgical knives options as well). But, Storm Division is already struggle to face the rough terrain, and you will play a lots of units so unit wide buff would be the most beneficial thing we can choose.

And the choice is not binary in some cases - heck even when it is binary it's usually only binary turn to turn. Again i point to Jakes where you can get Positive Charge up, and with feat, position both the effect radiating jack and Savio as a melee bullet with great ease. Whati like there is that if you do manage to get him on an enemy caster (lets face it, unlikely, but it can happen, he's usually more of an "Oh shit, must mitigate" kind of threat and disruptor, i actually like sinking him with a def bump into low mat melee units and watching people squirm as they try to dislodge him), that caster now is in the unenviable position of having to both weather the bullet, and get a very dangerous savio off them. Not going to happen every game, but when it does, its a nice precursor to the coup de gras. As an Ossrum player, i can tell you that Savio can be very nasty with any defense bump. You start upping his damage output and / or threat in conjunction with that defense bump and you start understanding his point cost pretty quickly.

It's CID. It could definitely change so that Acosta can be accessed in a different way. PP is toying with ways to include Mercs, and there will be plenty of iterations of themes before it's done.

I'm totally calm, I just say that this is what will happen if the change remains like this.
Also, Pagani clearly stated that Acosta should count as the single merc solo choice for Storm Division, and I have often found out that when a Dev clearly states something like that they rarely take it back, at least in the short term, so my money is on it remaining as it is.
Not only that, I have also seen another post where Pagani was following Oncomingstorm on his assumption that Storm Division is the most broken thing around (despite Lances nerf) and was willing to think about changes like making an a-doc rule just for it excluding Ruphert from it, so I doubt even more that he will be willing to ear requests for "improving" Storm Division.
That said, if I'm wrong and they will put him again into the list great, I will also be thrilling to try it, but for now the ones that should chill are the one excited for Acosta, since with the actual rules he won't really see any real play.

Well, Storm Division is actually an unusable theme if there is no Storm Lances, and the presence of Storm Lances disguises that Storm Division seems an overpowered theme. It is annoying that the devs are not aware of this. -_-;

I could see the balance reasons why Rhupert would be specifically excluded from Storm Division, however it leaves you in a really weird place fluff wise, unless page 1 of the Storm Knight Hand Book reads 'Screw Rhupert, that guys a knob'
It just makes no 'thematic' sense that Rhupert out of all the mercs would be shunned by Storm dudes

Well, in my Storm Knights manual's page 1, the first thing to do when wage war is have a connection with Rhupert Carvolo. He is simply an additional member of Storm Knights for me.
