That was a fantastic read, charles.
I dabbled with sketching before, but I found it took me just as long as my normal (painfully slow) layered highlighting method. You might have just inspired me to try it out again (got a unit of murder crows waiting to be painted)

Nice summary - I too am trying to get into sketching, and think I've been skipping one of the 2 zenithal white sprays. Think I do the general 45 degree "diffuse" spray but with a slight bias over one shoulder - I probably should do these as 2 steps and really blast one shoulder with the second.
Also learned a lot from your glazing: especially the stories about highlighting metal (which I found a struggle in sketch style)
I'm not sure I understand the difference with a titanium white vs another white for the sketch highlighting. I have a very thick Vallejo Foundation White - is that a titanium?

Really you sort of have to give yourself permission to work fast and loose with it for a bit before you start to get into the groove. I'd love to see pics!

I have a very thick Vallejo Foundation White - is that a titanium? Titanium White is a type of paint made with Titanium Oxidation particles, which results in an incredibly bright and opaque white. Traditional painters use it all the time, but we in the model industry don't really have access to it with the lines of miniature paints out there. As far as I know, Vallejo, p3, and GW all lack a Titanium White color - I'd recommend getting it from Hobby Lobby or Hobbytown in the acrylic paints section.

Very cool articles, Charles.
Regarding the infantry article, one of the things I've been dabbling with is infantry formations. You know how you can place infantry optimally for offense if you want to take a winning matchup quickly, or how you can space to draw out a losing matchup over as long as possible, how you can best utilise the reach of your weapons to cover board space etc. The topic has a lot of depth to it, and could make a really great set of articles.

I think I've got at least four more articles on infantry before I exhaust my ability to write about the subject for now. Then, probably gonna talk about piece trading with heavies. After that, who knows, I might get to play a game and write a battle report.

Bit of a mini update guys, I finished painting the whole faction! Was too excited not to share. Also took lots of individual pics, any interest in those? Anyway, there it is - that's max FA for everything except the Death Knell in the faction.
What to paint next....

Max FA, you say? Have to ask, where did you stop on crabbits/cask imps (I can't tell in the picture). Cause you can get a TON of those, and I've been debating just how insane to go (already committed to 18 cask imps, which should be the most I could possibly ever need).
