Greetings advocates of Scyrah.
I have searched, but cannot seem to find a post here regarding it, what are a good set of models to do a JML progression with?
If possible, could you include one for each Theme Force, and one that is not theme dependent?

Doing themes in the JL is kinda tough since you cant use the theme until week 4 and before that you have to obey all the restriction which can be tough from a game play stand point until you get the bonuses.
For week 2 I will say I think the Aspis is the best buy. Its cheap and it gives you a shield guard to help prevent some assassinations, the guy while not a hitter does have the push effect on his melee attacks that can do some surprising things when it comes to opening charge lanes or LOS to the enemy caster for some HoD assisted Manticore shots. On week three you desperately need to add an arcanist or two as the extra focus or concentrated power ups your game alot. After that I add in Disco and a sentinel boat with a Lyss healer and a MH assasin. Disco is just prue money, the Spray 10 with brain damage gives you some melee clearing power along with another assassination/control vector as well as a way to shut down blast damage. The Lyss healer is cheap and gives some spell hate as well as knock down protection. Keeping her safe is not too hard with blast immunity and a shield guard around.

My suggestion for a no theme no caster progression
Wk2 add any light (I would do a griffon personally) Wk3-minimum dawnguard sentinels w/ca and an arcanist(2 if aspis wk2, soulless escort if gorgon) Wk4- fill out sentinels, add second manticore and sylys Wk5- add sphinx and second arcanist Wk6- add griffon/chimera and third arcanist

The RET player in the local league has added a Gorgon for the second week and its incredibly annoying for its cost.
I would focus on learning the game and trying out as many different rules as possible: a unit or solo with stealth, a unit or solo with a magic ability, a unit with combined melee or ranged attack, a unit/weapon attachment and possibly a jack marshal.
If you're not a beginner, the advice still stands as you might end up ruining a beginners experience with a high powered list.

This is honestly the best advice. Retribution is a varied and multi dementional faction. Honestly buy what looks cools and just play that, asking an experienced player for help working out the points of your really new. The only think you should really stay away from in a journeyman is stuff that costs more than you can fit. (Phoenix, banshee, daemon, imperatus, hemera, Hypnos, discordia, afg, both colossalls are the only things that can't be brought if your filling out pint s every week)
