How do people reckon this compares to the ravens of war theme that's already out there?

The Oracle theme is awesome. It's trivially easy to get 18 free points. Plus the upkeeps let's you RUN with your casters first turn. The loss of Hellmouth isn't severely felt because you can be so far up the board they won't matter as much. Apparition on Hex Hunters with advance Deployment is insane board presence. This is my first stab at a Vayl1 list:
War Room Army
Legion of Everblight - oracle vayl
Theme: No Theme Selected 93 / 75 Army
<! OVER POINT LIMIT !>
Vayl, Disciple of Everblight - WB: +27 - Nephilim Bloodseer - PC: 8 (Battlegroup Points Used: 8) - Angelius - PC: 17 (Battlegroup Points Used: 17) - Angelius - PC: 17 (Battlegroup Points Used: 2) - Seraph - PC: 14 - Ravagore - PC: 19
Blighted Nyss Sorceress & Hellion - PC: 6 Blighted Nyss Sorceress & Hellion - PC: 6 Blighted Nyss Shepherd - PC: 1 Blighted Nyss Shepherd - PC: 1 Blighted Nyss Shepherd - PC: 1
Blighted Nyss Hex Hunters - Leader & 9 Grunts: 15 - Bayal, Hound of Everblight - PC: 6 Blackfrost Shard - Sevryn, Rhylyss & Vysarr: 9

How do people reckon this compares to the ravens of war theme that's already out there? Worse, mostly. RoW removes AD which can outright kill a lot of lists. The bonuses from these other two are pretty underwhelming. I can see taking the Oracles theme to run beast-heavy with extra points from free forsaken/shepherds. The other benefits from Oracles either don't matter (hex hunters with apparition, whoopee) or are marginal (starting buffs are okay, but won't really effect the course of a game). But CotD is pretty bad mostly because you can't take the infantry support you would want to in an infantry-heavy list (for example: Blightbringer garg). The restrictions on CotD is kinda ridiculous also. I don't know pretty underwhelmed and saddened by these themes. I was really hoping we would see something to give an edge to Legion that is sorely needed. I could also be wrong and maybe one or both of these lists will turn things around for the faction. But as of right now, I don't see that really happening.

Oracle theme seems to fit nicely with warlocks who wanted to run beast heavy anyway, and it essentially lets you have a beast for free, by giving you all your support solos for free. It's no machinations of shadow but it's decent and will definitely see play with Abby2, Thags2, Fyanna2, Kallus2

Oracle Theme is really awesome with some casters, usless with many others. But is really strong. It gives you 14/20 points for free...

I like oracles more than ravens, but i would be inclined to run an oracles list and ravens list in my pairing to scare ad lists. Might try something like fyanna ravens paired with thags2 oracles. Oracles potentially promises to be a good beast theme list so that's exciting.

I'm pretty sure Oracles of Annihilation will be the boost we need to maintain our current position of being a B-tier Faction. With A-tier Factions like Cygnar and Khador getting themes that give great benefits we need at least one theme that allows us to keep up with all the free points that they get. You can easily get 20 free points in this theme, more than any others that exist currently if I'm not mistaken.

When compared to other theme forces I have to tilt my head and wonder why even. It's disappointing

Oracles seems like a decent theme. On par with Ravens. Legions themes aren't balls-to-the-walls broken like some of them out there but I think they have something to offer.
The CotD theme is a bit meh and I probably wouldn't think of bringing it with any caster who didn't have their own character heavy.

Personally I think Oracles is better than Ravens. But that may be because I still haven't got off the "massive battlegroup only" bandwagon from MK2.

Totally on board for that battlegroup, and I really try hard to stay on it; but when I compare Legion battlegroups to other Warmachine armies' groups, they just feel lacking.

I do not understand the nephilim list either. The >non-character< nephilim part is really the kick in the nuts. I guess Zuriel and Spearsnake(Uriel?) + another Character heavy would not have been ok ?
About a regular Nephilim Heavy ... Dont hold your breath on it. Anything over Armor 18 is rapidly putting the carny out of business or is pillowfisted. It would be nice to have a heavy around 14 points, but in my humble opinion, they could and should have put the soldier there and decided not to.
Well lets all wait and see, hopefully i am wrong and a suprise shows up in CID soon ...

I think Oracles is great for eAbby, Fyanna, the Thags, Lylyth3. Honestly it has me excited to run a beast brick like I did in MKII. The lists feel a whole lot better with an extra heavy thrown in and still keeping all of the fury management.
