Long gunners down to 10/16. Trencher Jr Warcaster: 4pts, 4 focus, fire group and rift Commandoes get a CA, with quick work, repo 3", and a one-turn prey minifeat. Master gunner (and other solos) get "foxhole buddy" rule that gives them dig in when b2b with a dug in model. Triumph gets true sight, dual attack, boosted attack bond, magic damage Buster gets 8 boxes, spd5 cost 5 Siege2 has fury, hallowed avenger, razor wall, unstoppable force, desperate pace trencher, feat that immediately advances then digs in your army. Jump requires a focus. Rocket turret is rat6 rng12 pow14 aoe4 high explosive 10; can immediately make an attack when an enemy advances within 8" Doggo gives trenchers dodge, removes stealth and prevents backstrikes. Annoyance, foxhole buddy, mat5, crit knocdown ps7. Cost 2. Express team is cost 5, rng14 pow14 thunderbolt gun with boosted attack rolls and cautious advance from the spotter Mechanics are 3 for 5pts Anson Hitch (support solo) 4 pts, Battle plans: repo 2", reroll CRA's, or feign death. Jack marshal, foxhole buddy, tactician (trencher). Trencher long gunners are 11/18. CA gives them duck and cover minifeat, precision fire, marksman Blockhouse: cost14, spawns 3 trench templates, reinforcements (d3 trenchers), gun is rat6 rng15 pow15 aoe4 with quake and high explosive 10

Okay, so no traditional journeyman in the theme. That's fine, because we will now have 3 juniors in faction. This one looks like he's designed to run a grenadier or 2. Siege2 looks good. Long gunners got cheaper, yay.
Our doggo is silly. Flippin' Trenchers under Haley3 with def15, rise, tough, and now dodge.
I might consider Triumph now with Siege.
The commando officer doesn't excite me too much for now.
Trench busters got slower, but now they're tankier and cheaper. I'll take it happily.
Murdoch being allowed to take mercs was surprising. But no character units. So close. I almost got to use my devil dogs.
Noooooooo! No squire. Dammit. Why? Why is there no theme where Stryker2 can have more than a third of the support he wants?
Lots of cool stuff. I'm gonna start list theorizing.

I like the Commando Officer for purely for the image with quick work: charge up, stab someone with a trench knife and then chuck a grenade for good measure.

Unless there's something new on the horizon I'm a little confused as to what they want murdoch to bring in that case... Most of the natural candidates are characters, don't have ranged weapons, or already have assault.
Which leaves: Unled high shields (Why?) Thorn gun mages (I guess you can get some cute thunderbolt angles via assault?) Sea Dogs Steelhead Rifles Horgenhold Artillery Sea Dog Deck Gun
So... HAC or thorns? At least they both kind of fit the theme, trenchpirates seems a little odd.

Yes, though they have assault natively in mk3 so his only benefit for them is go-to-ground.
Pretty much. Only thing the longgunners have on them is the 2pt discount, repo5 minifeat and extra die to hit within 8". Trenchers get to reroll all damage rolls and pick the column, access to trencher buffs (Finn/Hitch), have an extra rat, and the free "dig in" minifeat (which also protects from many continuous effects, see dougal's hit the deck rule). There is a note that they're considering cutting the damage rerolls if that proves to be too much.
