In other news, hobby progress has stalled. I screwed up on the model I wanted to give my friend, so I've been stripping the paint so I can start again. I'm also having issues painting the dice boxes I printed; I tried to use an ink, but it ran between the print layers in some places, so I was trying to fix that. I've had that happen. It's why I now prime all my prints before painting. It can actually sorta work to your advantage if you're trying to make something look like wood.

We successfully made characters! And made plans to meet next week for another session! My favorite part of explaining the lore and some of the factions is the history of the Aunic people. They left Earth in one of The Ten. The sublight generation ship sent out to spread humanity when earth was dying. They spent 60 generations traveling. Hearing about how their ancestors had left a dying world to deliver them to a world that was just for them. A litteral promised land, where life would be good and bountiful. 60 generations of knowing with certainty that they or their descendants would someday arrive at a virtual Eden, set aside just for them. And with no way of knowing if they were the last of humanity or not. So they finally arrive and there's already a colony there. In the time it took to arrive Earth recovered, society rebuilt itself, they developed near light speed ships, found old star charts of habitat worlds, and a near light speed colony ship to the planet. They've been living there for a hundred years already. Oh, and they told the Aunic people they couldn't move in when they arrived. It didn't go over well. I hope some media report on the planet accused your generation ship travelers of coming to steal their jobs. The book doesn't say, and it's not my ship. It's just one of the things that happened in the background of the game's setting. It was like four thousand years before the current date also.

That looks nice. I really need to learn a 3d design program. So I can design my own models for printing.

I've had that happen. It's why I now prime all my prints before painting. It can actually sorta work to your advantage if you're trying to make something look like wood. I was trying to maintain the semi-transparency of the print. I tested using a gloss varnish "prime" to try to smooth out the surface before applying the ink, but that let the ink run too much and it acted more like a wash than the glaze effect I was going for. I also tested applying the ink directly and it looked good in my tests; the running effect is something that only happens in a few places where the print had issues it seems. Maybe next time I'll try a matt varnish as a primer. That looks nice. I really need to learn a 3d design program. So I can design my own models for printing. Thanks. The actual model looks nicer, but I was trying not to increase the model size or print difficulty, so I put most of the detail on the bottom of the print (the top of the box is the bottom of the print), which meant the elephant-foot effect interfered with the details. I'm using Blender, there's a bit of a barrier to entry but it's a very good program. I think Sketchup is quicker to get basic stuff working in, but I haven't used it in years.

The new models are even more amazing than the GenCon models.
Warjacks are single piece models now. (Obviously not counting the arms and heads.) You don’t even have to glue the legs on.
SINGLE PIECE KHADOR HEAVY WARJACKS, PEOPLE.

I saw some photos, they looked really high quality. It is genuinely amazing and impressive work. That's all I can say! I feel like Privateer's model quality has just seriously leapfrogged every other miniatures game I've ever seen!

You have to read the faction background in the new app. Important things are revealed there.
That is all.

I am having a surprisingly hard time just getting a smooth basecoat for a layer of chrome. Every time I apply the black gloss I see issues that I fear will be visible in the chrome, so I keep trying to clean it up and then apply the black again. It's getting frustrating.

I can’t help with that, but I wish you luck!

Thanks. BTW I saw 65 the other day, knocked out a quick review: soulsamurairants.blogspot.com/2023/03/65-review.htmlI also saw Cocaine Bear, or Crazy Bear as it's known around here. I probably won't bother with a review; it's EXACTLY what the trailer promises, no more and no less.
