There is a rule called Beast master that allows a non-warlock to force a beast like a warlock but can't then remove said fury. The ua for druids had it in mark 2 and other factions still do. The shepherd in Everblight for example. It's closer to beast marshal then herding.

Only the warbeast forcing the animus has the reduced cost.
Some suggestions: Because you have an extra fury the Feral WW a Gorax can buy an extra attack or boost even when they primal. Same for the Wild Argus and Doppler bark. The Shadowhorn and Riphorn can jank models even better with free animus. You no longer need to save a fury for the WW Stalker to sprint either. Una1 runs the Razorwing slightly better because you don't need her to put amuck up for him. The Scarsfel and Gnarlhorn can always have their defensive tech up without worrying about overloading fury.
Sadly, I think this is going to really limit future animus for our living warbeasts. There goes my dreams of Rush in faction.😭

I kinda want to put a guardian with Kaya3. If I'm gonna have that crappy animus I think that has the best chance of actually being used.

I use Secret Masters.................
Kidding. That theme is crap! Yeah, Devourer's Host. During last CID Kromac used the boilmaster and theme for corpse candy (along with other tharn), stalker had awakened spirit to maximize kills and still sprint and Ghetorix got upkept retaliatory strike and kept up his cheap animus himself so that anything daring to try and hit him better be sure. Spiny growth and Ghetorix axe to the face will make even Khador jacks do the math twice. Also, Kromac2 full of corpses can usually do work and still find that 1 fury for a Spiny of his own.

It only affects one model in our stable right now. It’s stoll a cool change. In most call of the Wild lists with Kromac 1 or 2 it means ghetorix will always be Arm 19 base. It just further makes Awakeked spirit on Kromac 2 pointless though. It’s only really usefull on the rage monkey and Pureblood now. Me thinks it should be replaced with an infantry support spell ;P I like that it opens up using awakened spirit in other themes for someone other then Ghetorix. Free sprint means an extra fury to attack with.

Card hand size is a big deal. Ignore requisition at your peril. I think we could use another solo or 2.

I got a chance to try it out and talk with Oz about it a couple weeks back. Even got a unique command card out of it. The game is fun, super easy to pick up (especially coming from War Hordes) and quick. Oz was saying he is looking at bringing in some sort of theme system to open up further model options too. The ones we discussed were allowing Scrapjack1 to get in the game and the thing about "unhorsed" dragoons.

Gotta say I'm really looking forward to Company of Iron. I got a chance to play a demo at a con a couple weeks back and it was pretty sweet. Been building lists (sort of) in War room ever since. My favorites so far are a Gun mage strike team and a Tharn hunting party.
What are you looking to try out in the Iron Company?

It's for people like me who lurk and don't talk to ya'll. Gives me quick access without having to give away everything I will say I can't wait to meet some of you at Crucible this weekend. Well that sounded ominous. Might not have come across so threatening if you weren't a sketchy guest 😆😉

week 1: Tanith gorax pureblood argus week 2: shadowhorn satyr week 3: call of the wild wayfarer wilder pureblood Week 4: Kaya3 scarsfell shifting stones week 5: stalker week 6: scarsfell wayfarer shifting stones swamp gobber chef Fudly has some decent suggestions but personally, unless you really want to use a different caster, I'd stay with Tanith. I also steer away from doubling up on warbeasts usually because you give up animus options. My suggestions might be: Week 1 Standard starter box. Week 2 Scarsfell griffon (I think this week is 10 points and the Shadowhorn costs 12) which leaves you with 2 spare points. Week 3 At this point you may want to start considering if you want to get models for a certain theme. I don't know if you can use themes in Journeyman leagues though. If your interested in the Wild hunt theme then I suggest either a max unit of Reeves of Oroboros leaving you 1 spare point (these guys are great with Tanith's spell affliction) or a min unit of Reeves and a min unit of Wolves of Oroboros (they gain ambush from the theme). If you like the Call of the wild theme then nows the time to get another warbeast and some support. Blackclad wayfarers or druids are each 4 points (possibly free in theme) and leave you enough points to pick up one of our economy heavy satyrs, leaving you one free point. The Gnarlhorn works well with Tanith's spell admonition and has a good animus, the Shadowhorn also has a good animus (the theme makes animi cheaper) and has movement jank. Both are pillowfisted but Tanith helps with that. Week 4 This is a big week and you should pick up a heavy or 2 light warbeasts here. Loki is bonded to Tanith and is a very good warbeast but he is costly (both monetarily and in points). Any of the other warpwolves are an excellent choice and will cost a little less money but still are points heavy. I recommend magnetizing them (satyrs too). Another way to go would be to pick up 2 lights instead. The Razorwing griffon is a tramplebot, the moonhound makes shooting better. Neither hits terribly hard though. If you have spare points get a Shifting Stones unit. They are cheap and very handy support. Don't bother with the ua. If you went Wild Hunt you should try and find the points to get the Wolves ua here and maybe max out the Reeves or get their ua as well. If you went Call of the Wild and don't have either the Wilder or at least one Blackclad wayfarer you should get them at this point. Week 5 I would suggest from here you season to personal taste. Some things that work well for Tanith are: Swampgobbers bellows crew (for her and Loki's prowl). Lanyssa Rysell (for the extra hunters mark in any theme). Gallows groves (cheap and good for most casters). For Wild Hunt lists I recommend one or more warwolves for the sic 'em (that's a solo, try putting scything touch on them) and Wolf Lord Morraig. The Death Wolves are also good. For the Call of the Wild lists you will want at least 2 solos with hunter's mark and the Wilder and one or more Shifting stones (to manage fury). The gobber chef is also good for managing fury if you have warrior models you don't mind feeding to your beasts. Warpwolf Stalkers with the sprint animus are good. I hope this helps. Good luck and welcome to the druidic brotherhood.

The op got me thinking after reading his post. This probably won't help him much because he wanted a pairing for his Kaya 3 list but....
Kaya3 in Secret Masters Wilder Woldwarden Woldwyrd Gorax rager Scarsfell gryphon Wild argus Celestial fulcrum Blackclad wayfarer (free) Blackclad stoneshaper (free) Blackclad stoneshaper Gatorman witch doctor Gatorman bokor and shamblers Shifting stones with ua Druids of Oroboros
This list is using CID costs for the Woldwarden and Shamblers and assumes the CID version of the Witch doctor and Stoneshaper . The Woldwarden can put out bloodspillers so there is plenty of free beast charges with the Wayfarer. The wilder can upkeep either synergy or fog up for Kaya and also helps her spread out her living beasts or keeps them alive. The wolds and living beasts both hit above their class with primal, enrage and synergy. The CID version of witch doctor helps the shamblers keep up with the army. There is plenty of beasts for synergy chains and the wolds keep the Fulcrum fueled while it buffs all the Blackclads who are protected by the shamblers and prowl. The Shifting stones do all their tricks and have stealth from fog. You could switch out the free Stoneshaper for a free ua on the Druids, I waffled on that. Thoughts?

On a slight tangent; is anybody thinking LotF is worth taking as a freebie in Call?

Because it was the Xmas CID I expect it will go live around or just before the new year.

I think Una1 is just outdistanced by her "battle group" too easily and doesn't do enough for them besides.
