Ah lovely. Well we do encourage competitive play. We generally do not have any i wanna dodge that person kinda games. Here and there but if it is brought to people’s attention we talk to the person in question as they may not even be aware they are doing something negative.
As for the dudebro mentality. I do have a manbun, beautiful, so i may not be able to say I am not one. But either way, the trash talking and such is all taken in stride and we try to make it as funny as possible. If anyone ever feels uncomfortable with that it is normally addressed and people will know that person is not into that. The community is quite respectful.
And the keg party thing. So as there are quite a few of us that like to get awesome on some alcohol, that is almost only at drunk machine. And even at drunk machine there is a dozen or more people who have a beer or two or just don’t really drink at all. We just highlight the drunken shinnanigrams because we find them entertaining.
New players can play in the scrum and play 75 points if they wish. Normally with new players we attempt to have them play smaller games and games with no clock or clock but pausing often to discuss the game and their options and such. Making it the best learning experience possible for the time they spend as many people in the community only really get to play one night a week.
So as the scrum is the platform in which the community grew, people come on scrum nights just to grab pickup games, talk about lists, socialize, play monpoc, travel to the holy burger king and even watch various 80’s action movies that i have on often enough. The scrum is awesome and at the center of it all. But the community is more than just a game a week.
I do hope this paints a clearer picture. I realize the podcast was a little all over the place, but hey, it was my first time being on one.
Also, since we are already on here talking, whats your current faction and lists, man?

Wow. This is an interesting thread.
Gumbafish- people would show up in force for the first week and then slowly stop coming if it they lost a game or two.
So do the people in your area not really like playing games unless they win?
Crimsyn- I’m not sure whether or not this is something that I would be interested in running or attending Why?
I mean, I like beer too, but sometimes the culture in WMH feels like 19 year olds for whom it just became legal and the novelty hasn’t worn off yet. Personally, I passed that phase about 10 years ago, so...
As I am very happy you passed that phase 10 years ago, its not nice to judge people on how they choose to have fun as long as it isn't physically hurting anyone, yes?
Shiver- Everyone I know in my same boat has already tried the "league revival" strategy. I was hoping for more than that. I appreciate the thought though.
The scrum isn't a league. You are just given an opponent every week for 4-6 weeks. And the results are that of a steamroller. Its a way for people to play a steamroller at a pace that works for many different walks of life. And it gives people ways to improve, meet new gamers and grow. But can I ask why people in your area would not like to do that? I am legitimately curious.

I think Locke will be cool. I am excited to see if it changes my pairing. I am about to bring my Orion/Axis pairing with Syntherion for a masters event at the South Ontario Open next week.

So I don't know how many of you have tried this. I have played 10 games with the following list so far:
Orion Prime Conflux Modulator x5 Corollary Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex Reflex Servitors x2 Elimination Servitors x2 Attunement Servitors Optifex Directive
This list has been doing fairly well. It takes a second to get the hang of but its damage potential is quite good. Struggles so far against battle engines with a large health pool. It also has slight trouble when the enemy closes but I feel that can be worked around with practice. You may scoff at a bunch of heavies with POW 10 to POW 12 guns, but under Orion's feat, I have ripped colossals off the board on turn 2 with minimal to no reprisal. Give it a try and let me know if you have different builds or any cool ideas you have come across that I can learn from. I am just trying to improve my strategy with the list and possibly tweak it if the right argument is made to do so backed up by field testing.

Hi there. Figured we could post some ideas about how people protect their foundries using terrain, models, spells and the like. I am sure a lot of people could benefit from a thread on this subject.

I think the minitor has a place depending on what you are comfortable with and what your meta is. I enjoy him for having a pow 13 long range gun much like the assimilator. But i also like the steady and pow 17 sustained attack he does as well. Don’t get me wrong, weapon master pow 14 is decent, but you are rolling aboutthe same damage with the monitor. I also use him to tag long range target with magic bullet, as the monitor is pretty reliable for that.

Good day to you all. So, my game vs Ossyan, we both found out that mage hunter strike force doesn't quite cut it when facing over 60 models. I am pretty excited about that. I am now living the sweet 6 drudge units life. The two machine wraiths are also fantastic. Highly suggest you give them a go if you haven't yet. I am also pairing Thexus with Ossrum for lack of a better idea currently.
I am finally coming back around to Cyphon. I got a list, I just need to check on if I have enough monstrosity models to begin testing it. It has zero drudges. That's right, zero. Its gonna get weird. I will report my experiences back once I have tested it a few times.

So I am most likely going to be running Thexus Drudge spam into Ossyan with mage hunter strike force tonight. I feel like this is going to be an exceedingly difficult match up to say the least.

The chaff thing is an idea. My reason for the ADO is that he is a throw away channel for a shrapnel swarm that allows me to not have to be forced to throw a heavy out of position. I actually despise galvanizers. But chaff is a thing so we shall see in time.
I fought against a butcher1 list that was heavily infantry based recently. It is my first Coc victory! was able to get that assassination off. WOO! The assimilators and TEP did wonders. My ADO came in for the win, sacrificing himself early game to lock Backlash on to the shield arm khador jack. Punture contributed to 9 points of butchers life over 2 turns, and it was majestic.
So far the list still needs more testing to assure each models place in the army. I am still looking at reflex servitors and prime axiom, but we shall see!

I am assuming with his feat, you can charge, make your initial melee attacks and then fire at things outside of that combat and then buy more melee attacks? Also, can you do a special attack action such as ground pounder on your feat turn?

They are a neat army. I played against a Circle army led by Baulder last night. I feel like I always seem to do not quite enough to kill a heavy with my inverter. I also saw that with the destruction initiative, it looks kinda hard to keep the objective game up in certain scenarios with circular zones. I start to fear that the Prime Axiom looms over my future as some form of unwanted necessity. But I shall play another 5 games with my iron mother list to be sure.

I figured this could be a good place for me to place info about my experiences with my Convergence since I have just started them. It will give me a place to look at information and grow as well as if anyone has any advice or questions.
So this week marks the beginning. I have gotten 3 games so far, two vs Caliban and his minions and 1 against Butcher 3 and his evil winter guard. Using iron mother all three games of course. So far I have narrowed my biggest lessons down to learning to use the corollary properly with my jacks, placing servitors properly and trying to get into the mind set that I need to buff and debuff as much as possible having only a Rat and Mat of 5. I am hoping to get another game or two in this week and post some more thoughts about progress on that as well as thoughts on match ups.
