It can only place one Covering Fire template anyway, right? It's a *Action, like the Cyclone, not an 'instead of shooting this weapon' like the Stormwall This is correct. Also why it only gets one spray, and can't do one of each. It takes place of the combat action.

Overrun on feat turn can really catch someone off guard by playing around with LoS denial too. I had Superiority on a Spriggan behind a forest at the beginning of a turn, had him walk through the forest after feat with overrun then he had vision on the enemy caster I think it was Caine1. and a 15" Threat range with Bulldoze that gets MAT 10 on the charge, with a spike on damage rolls took out Caine camping 3 on two hits.
Overrun and Feat are fantastic Alpha or assassination tools, I personally like him with Torch and Assault Kommandos for attrition purposes and anti-tough/healing debuff that actually hits Gargantuans. Torch might just be because I also play Circle and Sprint on a heavy is nice. Add Overrun on that and Torch can Charge in 9", threatening 10" with his sustained attack P+S 17 and 15" with his POW 12 spray due to Assault, and be able to bounce back 12" away after it's done based on turn timings. Now for this to happen, You do need to kill something in melee range, as the assault shots aren't part of your Combat Action.
The downside to this is if you do kill the charge target with the assault shot, and there's nothing left in melee, you don't get to do either overrun nor sprint.

I don't see a lot of Scorscha 2 lists anywhere. Malakov 2 seems to be on the low popularity side as well. I didn't play Mk1 and only collected the models for proxy hammer models in MK2 so I'm not sure if they were released near and people just paired the new toys. But for a MK3 pairing I'd say those two haven't been together in a list Malakov 2 first release was GenCon uhh 2016? I think. And Sorscha 2 is one of the oldest casters, I believe Apotheosis(2004, mk1). Back then, Beheomth was the only Character Jack and was just getting released as well. AS for if they have been paired together, I don't know. It does seem a possible one as Malakov has had very few people pushing for his use. Calling him Irusk lite at times. This could be a pairing I do.

Khador currently has 20 casters and Old Witch 2 has been out for a little bit slowing for some of her pairings.
But with 20 casters there are 190 unique pairings we can do. I want to do one that hasn't been done before for a tournament at my college in a few weeks.
Last time I did this was in September with Butcher 2 and Zerkova 2. I went 2-2 going 1-1 with each caster.
So what pairings do you think have never been done before (at least in mk3) ?

I feel like it would have been thematic to give the base models and CA Armour Piercing. Obviously take their P+S down to 9-12, but this allows them to Demolish anything they hit. They would have the issue of not being able to take out mass infantry but I don't know if they should have the ability to do both. If you were wanting to you could do them as *attacks and make them P+S 12 so you have the choice of AP or Cleave/Thresher/Backswing.

I suppose this list, or one like it, could be good for a tournament pairing but your other list would have to be both a generalist list AND be able to take on Cryx. I don't see how this could take on either a Dark Host or a Scourge list. I could see some trouble into other tougher infantry lists like Madrak 1 double Champs or even a Ret Sentinels list.
Obviously, a second list that could take on these issues can be made and brought, I just don't see this being your main list in that case.

Too much would change if AKs became WH. Thematically it would have made the most sense to include them in the Legion of Steel theme. The description of the LoS includes "assault forces" and "marches..behind a wall of shields". I happen to own some nicely painted AKs + WAs but havn't been able to pick up IFP or Dragons. The Assault Kommander, Strakhov2, must have got hit on the head and forgot how to veteran lead AKs between mkii and mkiii. If they had been included in LoS, with a veteran leader Strakhov2 I would be playing them now even without them contributing to the theme points/benefit. They are probably not as competitive as IFP but they would be good enough to bring to the table. PP's choice to throw them in the WG theme would make me think that PP might have plans for them down the road. I think we probably will not see any movement on that for quite a while. I'm assuming you mean losing VetLeader between Strakhov 1 and 2. The reason for not having them in LoS is it's a melee theme and the AKs would give it a good ranged presence. And yes the Assault Kommandoes will have a theme list and CID eventually, it's just not for a long while. So putting their theme out with just them for a potential 2 years, it would be the worst. So throwing them in the WGK just worked.

I like the idea of a theme force special for them, but what would you include in it, benefits and models?

I'm sure the AKs are going to get a CID eventually, but for now, they're barely worth the points. My initial thought, because they're in the WGK theme, but don't get the benefits of the list, is why not give them the sub type Winter Guard?
The first benefit I'll talk about is a minor one, Sorscha 2 gives them a speed boost with Desperate Pace. Range 21 Assault is fun.
The second minor benefit is Sac Pawn from theme which is nice.
The obvious major benefit is Joe. +2 to hit can boost them up to 8 or 9 with Strakhov 1. +4 to strength makes their charges at 13, same as pikemen. And tough is always good.
I think this will bring their play up a lot but may create an instance where their points need to be increased.

I don't think he can smokebomb himself, just someone else. Chris Davies talked about giving him sentry so he can create a mini cloud wall for himself, but I never really saw that working. Most times the cloud is just something that blocks yourself. At least Clouds don't affect Strak or AK's if you take them
