I have the Vallejo alcohol based metallics and don’t like them. They are fiddly to paint with, the alcohol dries WAY quicker than the water in acrylic paint. The clean up is a pain in the butt, because you have to use alcohol to clean the brushes which needs to be thrown away after use. And trying to thin the paint is not something I ever got to work, there’s too much water in even 90% alcohol. If you can get them to work, please share because I’d love to know what I don’t understand about making them work. The results are nice when the paint cooperates I must admit.

Thanks Havock, I’ve been looking into that and I’m a little bit mollified now.

I’ve been really excited about the Oblivion stuff and finally got a chance to go over and read up on the rules. I’m pretty pissed now, 8 out of 17 new models/units are partisan Cygnar? I mean I was very stoked about Alexa3 and her interaction with the legion unit and then I see they are partisan Cygnar. So Cygnar can actually take the full FA but we can’t. I don’t know when I’d want to take 3 units of them, but not having the option just feels wrong when the dirty swans can use them on top of all the other new toys they get.

That’s awful, but I’m glad to hear everyone is okay. Was it your only car?

I just found a heavy in the infernal list that has me a bit concerned. The Soul Stalker is SPD 7, DEF 13, ARM 15, 22 boxes, Eyeless Sight, Pathfinder, Soulless, Stealth, Serpentine, and with a point cost of 13. It sounds at least over tuned, especially compared to the Juggernaut.

That’s a tough one. I’m glad that the people you have been in contact have made it easier. I went through that a long time ago myself and it was awful. Just let us know if you need/want some advice or comfort.

It depends on whether your faction is going through CID. There’s a lot of optimism if things seemed a bit overpowered to players outside of the faction, but it really bothers me that lists are being designed to play into all comers. I really liked the MKII design where you had two lists to cover each other’s weaknesses. But now the design goal is to make both lists handle everything. And this combined with themes has made list building too predictable.

I’ve been reading the Talion CID and I’ve been pretty bemused by what people have been suggesting. Apparently every list needs to be be able to answer every list the opponent has and the Broadside theme benefit shouldn’t scatter and/or affect Pirate models. Broadside is very similar to a rule in the American army in Flames of War. It was an incredibly tilting rule where there was no counterplay and could be utterly devastating with a favorable deviation. This was one of the reasons I quit playing, I don’t mind if there are powerful rules or attacks as long as there is a counterplay or mitigation, but there was neither for this special rule that only one army (faction equivalent) had access to. I hate to see PP going down this route. We already have pretty much every CID granting blanket tough, I don’t like the power creep that seems to be getting more and more pronounced with each new CID. Although the suggestion that one of the light war jacks should have POW 16/17 on an 8 point jack was fairly humorous that this seemed okay to the other responders in the thread.

I might grumble a bit about paying a lot for models but the thing that really sticks in my craw is buying a ten man unit with 3 troop sculpts and a leader model. That’s just laziness and to charge a premium price for that is ridiculous.

Every time I think about Behemoth (and Juggernaut), I’m reminded of the Crucible Guard’s Suppressor and it makes me sad. For one point over the cost of Big B you can run TWO Suppressors!

Kossites Woodsmen. Great models, terrible rules. Winterguard infantry cost less than Kossites even though the WGI are trained, while the Kossites are just hunters. Kossites have Ambush but are not very effective if actually used to ambush, their MAT is bad with them being deployed too far to receive any kinds of buffs.
