That does happen to be my favorite way to win...

Oh, I see I can run almost this same exact list out of the Wolves of Winter theme by switching Bulkhead for an Ogrun Bokur. I just take Valchev for free instead of Bulkhead, and pay for the Bokur.
Any thoughts now? I just really prefer the Nyss to the Man-o-war because of their flexibility and mobility (in theory). I could be wrong though.
Thanks.

It seems like the 25 point Brawl format is getting relatively popular for folks still playing Warmachine, so I'm working on a few lists. Anyone care to offer any thoughts?
25 point - Brawl Theme - Armored Korps
Butcher 1 - 28 warjacks points - Adjunct 3 - Ruin 17 - Juggernaut 13
Bulkhead free Nyss Hunters 16 - Valchev 4
My thought was that you really only have enough points for one good unit in this format, so you should make it a good one. Butcher 1 likes helping shooty stuff like the Nyss, and if someone's dumb enough to get a heavy within their charging range, Butcher will help them rip it apart with ease. Valchev helps with zephyr movement, and anti-magic. Also, the adjunct can give eyeless sight to an awesome Nyss combined range attack on a good stuff with stealth. Expensive unit, but versatile and good.
I'd plan on getting aggressive with the juggernaut's advance because it's too dangerous for the opponent to ignore, and Ruin will vaporize anything good enough to kill it.
I'm in Armored Korps simply for the free Bulkhead.
And in the end, Butcher's tough to kill, and can kill anything on his own.
Thoughts?

Shit, I remember that now! They had a cool piece of artwork with him doing that. That was a spray, so it made sense that he's ripping a hole in the ground from his axe to the end of the spray.
His new gun, "sinkhole," is an AOE rather than a spray though. I don't clearly see a gun on the new model, so perhaps he's still bashing the ground and causing a sinkhole to pop up near his enemy? That's a little less intuitive. Anyone see a gun on the new model I'm simply missing? If not, it seems like we've figured it out. Thanks.

Also, I don't remember seeing the gun on the Karchev 1 model. (It's associated with his axe hand on Karchev 1, but not Karchev 2.) Is it possible there just isn't a physical gun on the new model?

I'm thinking of making a steamroller-legal conversion Karchev 2 by smashing together an old Karchev 1 model and a deathjack. (I just still like the look and feel off the old metal warjacks better, and want this model to look more Khador-ish and less Cryxy.)
After reading the conversion rules, I think this'll be legal if I get the weapons right. The left hand needs to be a necroclaw from the deathjack, and the deathjack shoulder skulls (the "skulls of hate") need to go on Karchev's shoulders.
My question is, where's the gun on the new model? On the card, it's not associated with either arm. This sound like a legal conversion?

Thanks for your thoughts.
Armchair Warrior. Yes, I'm almost never sorry to have the Kodiaks. So versatile.
Interesting idea on getting rid of the Rager. Now that I think of it, the Rager doesn't really come into play most matches. At all. I stubbornly insist on taking it because I think of this as my all-comers list. There's some nasty shooting lists that I'm scared of. Mage Hunter strike force, Sloan and hunters... But I should maybe just take my other list against Ret and Cygnar? That's a tough decision.

Hey Y'ALL,
I've been having some fun games with the Karchev melee brick list shown below, but am wondering if it has any weaknesses I'm missing. Thoughts? Tweaks? Three Kodiaks are expensive relative to marauders, but pathfinder and those clouds have been really valuable. The Rager sucks, but having a shield guard helps with several matchups.
Also, what lost might you pair with it?
Thanks.

It seems like PP really tries to keep things consistent, and giving the Spriggan Sturdy and base armor of 20 would do that while going a long ways toward making it worth taking. Or, simply giving it shield guard ability would do it for me.

I agree that Butcher1 has game, if you're prepared to grind one out on attrition.
I've had fun with this list lately. It's basically a Butcher Bunker, keeping him from getting assassinated and forcing an attrition game- with Kodiak clouds, shield guard and Orin. The Kayazy are annoying enough to kill (with IF on one unit and Alexia recursion behind the other), that there's enough dudes left standing for a tough counter attack.

I just started putting mine together. My main hope is that it isn't as annoying as my Nyss hunters. I like that unit, but hate those models.

That's a great idea, since a lot of us will be running it in the Winter Guard theme all the time.

Thanks to Netherby and Rowdy Dragon for your help.
Anyone else making OW2/3 conversions?

I started this post with questions about model conversion rules and tournament legality, and I guess this brings me full circle. Earlier, Netherby said that, despite the conversion rule's stated reason for requiring "iconic elements" in conversions is to "avoid confusion", and my conversion would probably work just fine at small tournaments at your local game store, it might not work at a high-level, PP-run tournament. There's a chance they might decide that the arcane machinery was iconic enough to require for a legal conversion. A decision like that wouldn't be in keeping with their stated reasoning in that rule- to avoid confusion- but it wouldn't completely surprise me.
In the end, absolutely no one is going to confuse my model with anything else (it's very obviously an OW2), it has more than 50% PP parts, and I'm not a high-end tournament player, so I'm ready to roll with my conversion. Actually, I'm ready to base the model, touch up the paint, and then go kick some butt with it!!
