Two things, because I still don’t have time for in-depth replies: 1) The comment about “extending the range … / …nobody even considered Dual Attack…” is just not based in reality. The published dev notes are only the briefest, most effervescent look into the design process. The team discusses hosts of ideas, try them out in real games, and tweak and refine. We don’t know what they tested. 2) It just so happens that Drago, Torch, and Black Ivan are the bottom of the barrel for the character jack/beast stable in this edition, and they’ve never been tuned during a CID or whatever. So you picked bad examples. Re 1: Sure, the devs don't necessarily talk about every potential testing angle. But if you've spent any time talking to Cygnar players, when the subject of Thunderhead comes up, inevitably someone says "Hey, what about dual attack or gunfighter?" Nobody says, "Hey what about extending the range of his gun?" So for the devs to mention one, and not the other, is super weird. Imagine, for instance, that Drago was subject to a dynamic update. Can you take a few guesses as to what Khador players might consider as a reasonable improvement? I can take a few guesses, but what everyone seems to talk about is the return of his old signs-and-portents bond. If the dev notes completely ignored that, and instead talked about trying out shield-guard, or true sight, or something else unrelated to the reasons why he might be taken, you might feel somewhat chagrined. I would certainly scratch my head if his old bond weren't mentioned. Re 2: I don't know what you mean about bad examples. It's half of the character warjacks available to Khador, and the others aren't slam dunks either. Character warjacks are often really terrible right now, and they don't have to be. Do you really disagree? To stave off any negativity, allow me to say again that the Storm Division update was overall very thoughtful and helpful, and I am looking forward to painting up a Storm Division force (without Thunderhead) whereas I would not have previously considered it.

Huh, DEF 13? Seriously? Are they finally get their rightful property? After suffered by a decade of torment, and finally what I see is a hallucination? ...Good. I didn't expect that I can have some positive thing on this time. Well, I don't forget that there are the others to claim the same thing, such as Iron Fang groups for their DEF was nerfed by 1 for no reason, and I hope that they will get the same treatment before long - they are also deserve it. For stormblade infantry... well, I do think that Electric Arc is fine, although it can't be denied that it was annoying. It is not so badly if you can promote the removed leader, though, but still have to keep the leader, and also grunts for only the grunts are able to be promoted to the leader. Didn't you know that? When you play Stormblad Infantry, the first trooper should be fell is the standard bearer - despite he has the glaive as well, but he didn't have noticeable feature(especially for the unit that rely on 5" bubble) and he is not the grunt so his value is not so important than even a grunt. No more. Although still the standard bearer has no additional feature(and you won't think the standard's interaction with the stormcaller a meaning, will you?) but being a standard increase the command range, at least, and you are no longer stick with 5" on the charge turn. Also, Assault by default means the minimum unit can does something as well. Although Relentless Charge on the Officer means that you probably need for an Officer anyways. Well, Stormblade Infantry was bad but at least usable unit. But Stormguard Infantry had even the worse fate - they are effectively removed from MKII, and finally they are revived recently, after a decade. Reclaim DEF 13, as well as also gain Wall of Steel means they are actually included in the consideration at least. Finally it makes Stormblade Captain viable - he must be costed 4 points, and also gains Desperate Pace. Now he is worth considering. Gwen Keller seems too much. Leadership Force Barrier? Is it even makes sense? On the same update that fix the DEF of the storm knights? Yes I know the cost justify the buff with such level, but it can be stack with Dirge of Mists. Acosta seems a bit better but will we see him more? Although finally gains Storm Knight tag gives him some advantage, perhaps. And... it seems that we can welcome the new Cygnar unit, Stormsmith Grenadiers, and its introduce day of 6/24/2021. It is unusual that the update makes a brand new model/unit. I am dead serious.
Reducing the point on some heavies is welcome. Yeah... Although it never helps us to use more warjacks, but it is better than nothing.

I like the OP's review, and am generally satisfied with the updates. I believe there will be more (median) competitive options, not overpowered, not meta warping. I agree with the request for improved character warjacks/warbeasts. Themes limit them so much that it makes them rarities on the field. And, if a certain theme makes a certain 'improved' character warjack an auto-include, so be it. Themes already make certain units and solos auto-includes by the themes' prevention of most other faction units/solos. (As a MK1 player, At initiation I disliked Themes for the penalty they assessed against creativity of model inclusion in my armies, who wants to deny themselves (requisition) models/ points in their army?! Knowing now that themes ARE the game, I'm accustomed to it...alas? ) Any thoughts on how SD will perform in Brawlmachine?

I could do that, but I doubt they would see any view tbh. My youtube channel has historically always preformed worse than the blog
