Lol we've somehow slipped into another Mohsar thread! Played a few games and really really don't like it, but as with all these changes I'm just trying to keep a level head and be patient. The scoring options felt static, we both were scoring a lot but nobody winning. Also it's annoying to remember what turn it is. This also seems like another chance to plug morvahna 1. I will say that most of my wins w her come on scenario and she eventually gets overrun, but I think she is really strong into what could be more gunlines. Recently went wolves theme with double reeves and double wolves (you can keep the woldwrath anchor!). Ambush seems huge with these spread out scenarios. I can definitely see the appeal of a regrow-thing ambushing unit of WoO unit. Honestly now that I am looking at our themes in light of SR2017 it may be most expedient for us to play in theme. Even the tharn theme with a caster like Baldur 1 has a pretty good attrition potential. Time will tell. I didn't want to buy two units of reeves but it looks like Ill be selling my body to go out and start playing into these themes (sounds eerily familiar to another Big company that is all about selling models *cough cough*) I couldn't help myself about the Moh plug btw take any opportunity I can get Who knows maybe ill find out he is the king of SR2017

Definitely not sad about the Mohsar plugs. If anything, this can be a chance to explore some casters. Does anyone who has been playing sr17 have good stories about scenario.

Hey Everyone
With the changes to 2017 Scenarios, and PP saying their intention is to dial back scenario wins as a common way of winning a game.
Do you think our traditional MK3 pairing will change up hugely?
I can still see Tannith as being a great all rounder caster, particular in wolf theme, as she loves Reeves, doesn't loose too much (gobber belows crews makes me sad)
However as I read up Kru 2 / Wurmwood, our current control casters / gunline drops, they seem they may have lost a little.
Got me thinking about a decent gunline drop, that retains a bit of punch, which may make Kaya 3 shine a little brighter?
Bauldar 2 still seems solid either in wold theme or Beast brick.
I guess, my question here after a lot of woffle, do you guys see any potential bad casters going into 2017? Or does it just look like every caster may be a little bit more corner case than the clear choices we had using 2016 SR?

Based on experience the "worst" caster I have used so far has been Krueger and I've tried Krueger2, Baldurs 1 & 2, Wurmy, Tanith, and Mohsar. I think Baldur 2 is going to be a constant in my tourney pairings just because he plays attrition incredibly well into most things. I would say right now based on playtesting Your best bet for a non-gunline drop is Tanith and after that it's preference. I prefer Mohsar, but People have mentioned Morv 1 and I Think Baldur 2 can really play a solid attrition game the circle way. I'm working on a Bones of Orboros gunline with him and the new fulcrum. To explain on Krueger 2, he lacks one major thing. Hitting power. In MK2 I could get away with not ahnihilating my opponents 10 jacks and still win the game. Now...not so much. He's a caster designed around Scenario and we all know how that went. I want to clarify I Still think he's good I just need to re-work him from the ground up.

Who knows, maybe this will open up some #designspace? (If my eyes rolled any harder they'd fall out.) On that note if they are focusing less on scenario they really should take a look at the stupid bulldoze animus on a spd 4 heavy. Or maybe give us double ports back!
My experience with krue2 has been totally differnt from yours Mac. I've found him a great on assassination runs. Mostly because his kit is so toolboxy. That might be because everyone sees him as a scenario dude but who knows. Sadly if armor is a big deal hutchuk and primal are kinda the only answer unless you're playing someone with curse. (MOHSAR COUGH COUGH) Wish we had a ragman.

In terms of attrition gamming what about Morvhanna 2? Or is just one chance of bring back dudes not enough?
Kaya 3 should be able to put up a very good threat. Her feat to let her models essentially become ghostly would always threaten assassination. Then for synergy and warbeasts to attrition. Just need to work out how to balance the list. You could say the same for Una2 as well. But she will not survive an attrition game.

Kaya 3 has no real way to extend threat and therefore has issues getting an alpha against a competent opponent especially in SR2017 (yes Blackclad Wayfarers can but you need at least 2 to make it reliable) Most of kaya3's toolbox is good. But I think out of the kayas it's #2 that gives the best attrition options. With Morv I think 1 is the better choice more recursion opportunities and a more attrition focused spell list. Thats all theory though. No playtesting. Played into Khador with Moh the other day, went incredibly well (Harky with all the jacks) scenario was spread the net. I feated early to deny him resources and limit his speed and through pillars, Loki and some Solid shooting and guerilla tactics managed to Get him down to Harky and a clam jack which allowed me to assasinated harky (albeit with Loki two Wyrds and Mohsar himself that guy is a TANK)

Kaya3 basically has hunters mark as a spell, I wouldn't count her out yet. Cost 2 and with gallows you could reach out with it. If for some reason you took a geo caster its a free mark because you only have to hit. Her fog gives stalker free stealth too...well a lot of circle gets stealth off her and synergy while kinda ehh now makes stalker crazy vs some infantry mobs.
I like how it all sounds but if a wall of jacks are just staying back I'm not sure. Anyone tried morv's goat vs shooty dudes trying to pick off scenario guys? Good news on the Mohsar game.
Oh yeah reposition too.

Oh yeah reposition too. Well I never want to fully count a caster out. I think she does have game and she hits like a TRUCK. You know Goats with her may be a good attrition possibility. I think she's got a lot more depth than she seems. I just think Kaya 2 may play the attrition game better with an effective double alpha. Also, repo 3 is pretty amazing especially on Loki and Purebloods. Thanks, I hilariously have most of my success playing Moh into the 8-10 jacks of doom list. One of the great things about mauraders and Jugs is they only have 1" reach and have no guns which is hilariousmy rewarding to exploit. I will say if I had been playing The Belt Scebarios. (Pit 2 and Breakdown) I think it would have been a hell of a lot harder to pull off a grind like that successfully. Loki didn't miss one drag this game so I'm debating giving him some bling for his good behavior

Kaya3 basically has hunters mark as a spell, I wouldn't count her out yet. I'm not counting her out. She's still my favorite caster to play and the reason I picked up Circle, but she doesn't have Hunter's mark in the most important way. I generally don't care about the free charge, it's the extra range I need. The more I have a go at the 2017SR, the more I think it's going to be Moshar's time to shine. Having Khador go first under Jaws and setup shop in the zones first is irritating. They're just daring you to make trades you can't. Having the Salt Pillars to break up counter attack angles seems like it's going to be important.

I'm picking up what your putting down ratrek. Can't deny that logic. I mostly just use it for slamming with argus so I can boost to hit or damage. Even better if they can get a good animus off (winter argus animus while not the best forces them to devote somehing to it or avoid it). All that also builds up synergy. Then my druid or lanyssa fire off that stalker/feral missle. I feel like this might be the summer of slams for me, I can't get enough bowling. One could say this is summer slam 2017.

I think the CID testing for Steamroller is really just demonstrating problems with Khador right now. Hopefully they will fix both things.

I think the CID testing for Steamroller is really just demonstrating problems with Khador right now. Hopefully they will fix both things. Well yes it does show the glaring problem with undercosted jacks (Khador being the main offender) It also is showing that Legion is horrible at attrition and I can say that from personal experience it's better to play a circle gunline that to go combined arms. If anything it's changing the way we view and play our faction. I just feel like every game is the same, it's not that I'm losing every time, it's that I don't feel satisfied because games are repetitive and lack flavor.

So i want to talk about this but it doesn't deserve a thread about it.
I wanted to try something fun. The steam roller is easy enough to not lose out on so I put together a slower attrition list (read: gunline). Tanith w/ Loki and Brennos, full mist riders, shifting stones, black clad, and Una1 with the Storm Raptor. Yep, I expect you to laugh. But it works. I put it against exactly what the list wouldn't want to see; heavy infantry with tough, high~ish health heavys with an arm skew feat. It wasn't Khador by any stretch but Maelok with wrastlers being arm 21 and 23 with death pact, posse are arm18 or arm 20 engage, are kind of hard to damage.
So basically position stone up. Una walks into the stones and puts up sky fire and drops one. The raptor and mistriders take their shots and stay out of charge ranges. Stones port Una back. Brennos takes a fury off the bird just to make Una's not totally useless. Otherwise she would have to camp 0 to keep the bird from making a frenzy check. Next turn the black clad who already has scything touch can port in behind a target and the bird slaughters it and whatever else in reach. Tanith swaps scything touch to Loki who drags in a wrastler and eats it. Mist riders do what damage they can and jam. Brennos having blessed lets him still put viable damage out. All around it's an active game. I didn't out right drop models left and right. But it did plenty of meaningful damage. Against one hit box infantry electro-leap combined with affliction; it's just mean. My wife's pulled that trick before to make arm 24 legionnaires disappear.
So just sharing a fun idea with not too favored models. To make it relevant to the thread topic - Gunlines might be happy to just sit outside of scenario a turn longer. I still thinks it's terribly difficult to push them out entirely. Which they have said is the intent.
