To put in new Karchev? haha. Yup! I'm just kidding of course; trying to hack in magnets at this point would be a bad idea imho.

I hadn't considered magnetizing anything on this project honestly, generally I don't magnetize anything but the multi-kits. I suspect that you're right though Soul, it might be a bad idea at this point to attempt it.

Quick update... Still to do: Base wash and detailing, overall touch ups where needed, OSL (this part always scares me!), and of course adding the spirits to the base. I've been working on how to deal with the spirits...they're pretty fragile. I think I've got an arrangement where they will all be relatively safe if positioned correctly, but I'm still playing with how I want them. It's one of those things where I knew what I wanted when I started but (like every mini I do) ends up somewhat different.

What of you attach the souls with magnets? So you have them on for display, amd remove them for transport and gaming? Not ideal, but something to consider.

What of you attach the souls with magnets? So you have them on for display, and remove them for transport and gaming? Not ideal, but something to consider. It's an interesting thought, but it may not work out very well. I had tried to drill holes for the small acrylic rods that the souls are on the other night and wound up having trouble getting the pin vice into position to do so - the DJ overhangs the base too much...my fault there for not thinking that through very well to start with. My plan (at the moment) is to use the UV resin to attach them to the base as well as perhaps a small bit of resin on one other contact point (hand/arm most likely) to help steady them and keep them on the base. I may try another coat of clear resin over the top of one of them to see if I can get them a little sturdier as well - I've got an order in for more UV resin which hopefully should arrive in 2-3 weeks - perfect timing as I should be able to finish up the paint job by then. *EDIT* Also, thanks for the kind words everyone. This is kind of a *Big Deal* project for me as the Deathjack is one of the monsters that initially got me into the Iron Kingdoms setting and one of my favorites still. I'm happy it's turned out as well as it has so far, even if it's not quite the image I had in my head to start with.

Done! I had one "oh crap" moment when I knocked the mini over fairly hard - it didn't drop from the table, but took quite a spill across the tabletop and chipped the paint in 3 spots. After carefully fixing the chipped spots, and adding the paint for the OSL, I sealed it with a couple coats and a single coat of dullcoat then started working on the last bits of resin for the spirits, as well as getting them stuck on the base. All in all, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, though I suspect that with some more practice with the UV resin I could have made the spirits look a bit better. HUGE THANKS TO SOUL SAMURAI for the help with the skeletons, I couldn't have made it look as good as it does without your help!

Dude, he looks amazing! I love how you did the colours on the skeletons, they look really ghostly! And the OSL on the rocks around them is a great touch. The sould being pulled into his chest is just brilliant!
I would be interested to see him photographed against a dark background, I think that helps darker models to look good in photos - especially when they include glow effects.

Thanks! I couldn't have pulled it off without your help though, be sure to give yourself some props there too! All your help and advice on the 3D software and helping print the skeletons was super awesome and it's turned this into my best work to date as far as I'm concerned.
Sure thing on the photos as well, I'll see what I can do after work. I'll pull out my better camera as well, this photo was taken on my phone and the colors are a little bit off to be honest - the spirits are slightly darker blue for instance.

I'm glad I could contribute, though I think your sculpted skeletons were shaping up very nicely before so I reckon it would have still come out awesome even without my intereference.
Have you posted it on other forums? This place is so dead it would be a shame not to post it on Dakka or maybe CMON. Hell, even the original PP hobby forum is more active than this one now. If PP was still running fan submissions in No Quarter I would have suggested sending it directly to them!

I haven't posted it elsewhere. I think I'll see about getting some better photos tonight before I do though.
I did post a sign up goal on the Warmachine/Hordes Painting Facebook group to do their point a day challenge (it's IKRPG themed this month) and listed the DJ as my monster for the challenge so I'll post it there for sure.
To be honest, I don't think I've ever actually signed up for a Dakka account, though I do have a CMON account. I'll likely post it in the PP forums too as I did start a thread there about it when I first started working on the project.

I see what you meant about the souls being much more blue. The greens on the carapace, especially the back and smokestack, do stand out more in the new photos.
