I think PP produces in-house or in the States/EU, while GW still produces in China, which may also explain the price differences?
One thing I really like about PP is the parts service, which GW does not have. But even that is up in the air given the lockdown.
If you're in the hobby primarily for painting and minis, with the occasional casual game thrown in, GW is a no-brainer. For price to quality of mini ratio IMO they are unbeatable. Also it's much easier to buy their stuff second-hand.
PP's advantage is a much more balanced/playtested game, with MKIII offering a wide variety of viable lists. Their models are occasionally very good, but tend to have poor creativity. Look at the mass of warjacks and warbeasts that look very similar on the table and we have huge missed opportunities on their part. i think the archons at least are injecting a new table presence to the game.

WMH is visually very tight, to the point that it's almost arcadey, which means it's almost impossible to look at a model and not be able to get a pretty accurate read of how strong it is and what it can do. There's obviously always going to be outliers, but by and large you need to look at a model for 3 seconds to be able to tell what it does. I do think it could've been interesting if they added some new and different stuff, but any departure from the formula makes the game harder to read. What would you want to see? I do think it's a missed opportunity when it comes to Warbeasts, it gets a bit tiring after a while to look at bodybuilder wolves, bodybuilder goats, bodybuilder birds, bodybuilder elephant. But when it comes to 'jacks Cyriss already has 'jacks with unusual body shapes, Cryx brings the crabjacks. And if you look at 'crabs, heavy vectors and horrors - they're all very top heavy and are shaped to resemble a human torso. Again, always with the consistent shapes. GW's stuff is not standardized, so you get way more variety in look, but it also means that from a gameplay point of view it's a lot harder to tell how much each model can get done. Huge model will obviously be stronger than tiny models - but not always. What's the conversion rate between 40 ratmen and a dragon? stuff like that.

Just chiming in to say that we in the Riot Quest community really love the game and are super excited for the kickstarter. The game has been gathering more and more players for awhile now and is able to draw in young kids and families to the world of miniatures. This game seems to get a ton of hate from the Warmachine community, but hey, we're having fun!
P.S., Shivers is easily the most anticipated model in the set.

I'm personally a huge fan of the warmachine aesthetic, especially in regard to the 'jacks. They reflect a more "realistic" military. Soldiers wearing armor with visible layers, chainmail at the joints, visible straps to allow the armor to be put on/off. Warjacks with standardized chassis reflecting a industrial-era, mass-production process.
There are absurd warmachine models (Vessel of Judgement, for example), and sensible 40k models, but the ratio skews, imo, heavily towards PP.

I must say I am leaning more and more toward PP for all aspects. I know this is somewhat controversial maybe. But it is my real and honest and personal option: 1) Obviously its the rules, GW ist still painfull to play and broken beyond compare. It works for a fun game with friends but if you just meet someone you do not know to play a game, there is a good cahnge of it being a bad experience.
2) The background. GW is just grim dark with a little dark and despair und dead Robo-Babies mixed in (The new rulebook - brr). They lost all the fun and irony on their way and take themselves way too serious for what the universe is. Its a fascinating setting but with no valuable story (unless you play HH). I prefer PPs fresh and fun attitude with Riot Quest, MonPoc and Minicrate. And also the deeper setting of the IK RPG - there is intersting stories, real plot developement and you can really invest in the setting.
3) The Design and Models (yes really the Models). All the Models mentioned above also have interesting design approaches and a unique feel to them. I can't stand stupid skulls anymore. GW puts out models that all look the same (newer stuff) or were horrible designs (7th Edition Space Marine Suff like Centurions and oversizes gun stuff). This is really boring, we saw a nice new Kit for almost every old Kit now (Or not if you are Eldar) in 40k, but nothing seriously new. And Aos is just relly not my style. And then you need to build the GW stuff. It took me HOURS to build the new Skitarii Tank and a unit. Its taking forever the pieces are small beyond reasoning. You even get pre-defined designs in the plastic now. I just like my old chuncky Resin/Metal kits. They build fast and they paint nicely. Its amazing what GW can do with plastic, but its really getting too much.

So I was reading the latest kickstarter update, and took a glance at the campaign page again, and I suddenly realised something:
"Boomhowler The Destroyer" is carrying an axe from a Destroyer warjack.
This indisputably confirms two things: 1. I am slow. 2. The new Boomhowler will be a tournament-legal proxy for a Destroyer warjack.

Wrong Baes size and missing the mecha Fist Pfft, base sizes don't matter. At least GW doesn't seem to think so; every time they release a new product they invent a new base size for it. 32mm, 28mm, 43.6mm, 33 1/ 3mm, e 7.1mm...

I saw this the other day on their website and liked what I saw, I backed it as well at the highest level I could. My friends and I have been playing the crap out of Riot Quest lately.
