I just finished building my desert hydra and am wondering what people usually run with it?

I had fun running him with Hexeris 2. With black spot it can a fairly ridiculous number of attacks in one turn. A lot of casters can use it all right, but you either want someone that makes it more threatening or something that makes it really hard to kill.

Doesnt black spot get removed as soon as an attack hits?

Nope, it's an upkeep spell and does not expire when used.

The only limitation is that only kills on the target unit generate attacks, and that black spot attacks can't generate attacks. You're looking at a theoretical 10 sprays, although that'd requirep good positioning and dice.

X2 is a good contender, as a SPD 7 Hydra is VERY mobile. Incite (damage) or Rapport (MAT) both benefit the Hydra, plus his feat works on sprays as well as melee. Plus the two large bases (or more if you add a SA or two) is fun and intimidating (mostly more fun than intimidating, when a lot of your base area is destroyed in one turn ; )
