Butcher has anger issues. He slips into ultraviolence both casually and unintentionally (Seacat’s work there was again superb) but it’s not as if he’s plotting to do bad things just because. Going back to the Skorne reference, what is evil is often based on perspective. I would class Butcher as Chaotic Evil, not in a deliberate sense like the Joker would be, but more like in the natural sense like a tornado. Mustache-twirling would come in to effect by the placement of the Butcher (either by his choices or those who direct him) to cause such evil.
I was more or less agreeing with your earlier point. No faction should be exempt of mustache-twirlers, though some are more replete with them from our Western perspective than others, and no faction should really be one as a whole.

Would be really nice to not put it on Twitter, since the character limits really break up the stories in very bad ways. I can't help but read a stutter or a weird, unfitting pause whenever I read them. Good news on that front! home.privateerpress.com/2019/12/31/the-henge-hold-scroll-summation-1/Looks like PP may be collating the posts from time to time into a single document

I'm glad, too.
I'll choose to fluff my ego and take credit for the change, though I know they very likely never saw the post ;P

As a Cygnar player (who doesn't love tricorn hats) I have never liked the idea that one faction is straight up good or evil. b/c that is not how things work life is more of a gray scale than a black or white.

Nope. Turns out that Khador is evil for evil’s sake (because they’re evil) and Cygnar is full of angelic do-gooders who are the best, ever, at everything. At least according to the excruciating Acts of War series. : p

Magnus’ character growth was not because of Magnus’ own internal development, though. It happened after watching the benevolent, flawless angel known as Stryker, whose pure-hearted radiance washed over him and mended Magnus’ crooked soul. At least that is how it read to me. Magnus didn’t gas thousands of Winter Guard and then look around at his own soldiers and think “You know maybe I should set a better example”, he got reprimanded by holier-than-thou and immediately changed his ways. The whole Magnus/Stryker relationship was not believable. I don’t think the Magnus presented in MK I/MK II would have forgiven him quite so easily.

Imo it would have made for better drama if we saw winterguard and trenchers fight side by side, both covering each other's back but still giving them shit, kinda like how legolas and gimli bonded over time. As for the empress, I'd rather she was focused in the long game as she's supposed to be described in the fluff, like "sure we'll sign an alliance with this new boy king. But after our nations are out of this predicament we'll make sure to let him know who it was that gave them the boost needed to win this war"
