Yeah, it can be hard to get good photos. The model looks good, but to be honest I prefer the previous wraith with the bright glowing eyes. I'm curious why you didn't do the same thing for this one? Mostly out of curiosity as to how it would look without them. See how it works with just the skull. End result is that I like it better with the glowing eyes. That's put on my "to fix" list. Also just updated most of my cover images with better pictures.

Cool. I've been there; do I want this skeleton to have glowing eyes or two dark pits into the endless abyss... I guess it's different from case to case.

Threw together the Cankerworm next for my second list. I was happy with it... then went too heavy on the armor wash to make the details pop >_< Goodbye shaded armor panels. Didn't have the energy to redo it. The base is probably the best part of the whole which was surprisingly fun to paint. nightmareempire.wordpress.com/2017/09/24/painting-cankerworm/

The darker wall on the Phantom looks better, but I feel as if you've lost the blue glow that used to be coming off the back of the wall? That's a shame, I liked that touch before.

That's a good point... guess I got in a bit of a rush there. A few light layers of white then a quick splat of blue ink should help with that.

That's an interesting base. The cracked ice effect works quite well. I'm not sure about the snow hugging the sides of the rock; it should probably only be along the top surfaces and not hanging off the sides?
I don't use crushed glass because I've heard you have to be careful when using it because the dust is bad for your lungs if inhaled; you know, wearing breathing protection, working in a well ventilated area, etc. Sounds like too much hassle to me just for some slightly nicer looking snow.

Regarding the glass, that is exactly what I was thinking. Not worth the trouble even if the results are amazing. For the snow: you're probably right. While it looks good hanging off the side with the small waterfall, it probably shouldn't hang off the backside. Breaks the illusion of just being a chunk cut out of a larger piece.

Breaks the illusion of just being a chunk cut out of a larger piece. The rock does overhang a little bit, perhaps you could try adding icicles (to this or a future base)? I've never tried or thought about how to model icicles, but I think that's what you want. I guess you could cut some long triangular shapes from clear plastic (the blister packs that models come in is great for this), then layer on a clear resin or something (gloss varnish, or maybe even PVA) to get a roughly conical shape? Then glue them in place. and apply more varnish to smooth the join. You would probably want to position them pointing upwards until the resin/varnish/whatever is dry, so that it pools towards the bottom and creates a cone. Well, that's what comes to my mind anyway when I look at the hanging snow on your base.

Was not able to get any decent icicles, so that's a problem for another day. For now, Goreshade 3 is complete. I will be carrying over the new form of snow and addition of Sanguine Base capes into my other models. Might touchup some of my old ones this way as well. He looks good. He's going to be very impressive on the tabletop, towering over other models!

That's a fantastic paint-job, and a fantastic theme for the army- I would love to face off against such well done miniatures!

I like the ice and snow and 'cold' effects, especially on your bases! Runes are also a great eideer, I'm to lazy for this kind of work, but I like to see it very much on your army .
