I created a free blog to house my painting progress and that of a Cygnar player that I frequently battle against. nightmareempire.wordpress.com/category/painting/As you can see, quality is steadily improving over time, going from "I don't remember how to paint" with the Deathjack to something a bit more ....presentable... with the ice theme. I'll gladly take any criticism or advice on improvements.

I've spent some time there reading everything. It's a quite nice website with some lovely models!

Fantastic paint jobs, and I really like the design of that site!

Bane Riders posted. I then made a cheap lightbox out of cardboard and printer paper. I still need to get some decent lights to cancel out the shadows I'm still getting, but it's an improvement. Deneghra and Scaverous have been updated using this lightbox.

Made an attempt at creating an impact point where the Stalker landed. Tried a few new methods to make it happen. First painted the base, fading from Meridian blue to Cygnar blue instead of using blue ink (very happy with this mix). Put down a thick layer of crackle, which made some HUGE cracks. Was prone to falling off and flaking. Filled in the gaps and held the pieces of "ice" together with some fake water. Definitely recommend doing this, as it settles into the cracks and holds it all together. Used a knife to carve/pry pieces out around the claw. Cut some irregular chunks of plastic out of a blister pack and glued them at an angle around the claw. Covered the plastic in crackle; mistake. It doesn't hold onto small pieces and just falls off. Not enough "grip" I guess. Just use water instead next time. Dry brush everything with white and call it a day.

I like it, I think the effect works.

I like the glowing eyes and the subtle glow bouncing off the wall. I wonder if it might look better if the wall was a bit darker? It's so bright that it might be overpowering the figure a little bit.

Captain Rengrave is finished. Will get those Hellslinger fixes in before moving on to the Pistol Wraith and Scavenger. They'll be the last "single" models before I move on to the Revenants and Blackbanes. Well, until Agrimony is released that is. More images here, per usual: nightmareempire.wordpress.com/2017/09/17/painting-captain-rengrave/

Finished up the Pistol Wraith pretty quickly. Only real disappointment is that the Trollblood Base wasn't as bright as I thought it would be for the belt and scarf. On a happier note, I switched camera apps and it made quite a difference in picture quality. nightmareempire.wordpress.com/2017/09/21/painting-pistol-wraith/

Yeah, it can be hard to get good photos.
The model looks good, but to be honest I prefer the previous wraith with the bright glowing eyes. I'm curious why you didn't do the same thing for this one?
