Hello!
Looking to start playing baldur 1 again.
How have you found his general strength and survivability?
Are there any strange quips you've found when playing him?
What's your favourite build?

Below is my favorite build. You do sacrifice some infantry to get in the extra beast, but I much prefer playing with 2 beasts when compared to 1. I used Baldur1 in my stores most recent journeyman and really go to appreciate how powerful Ghetorix is with Baldur. Stone skin makes Ghetorix extremely hardy when combined with his animus. My experience with Baldur is that he definitely wants the gallows groves to be able to dish out stone skin as needed on either flank. IMO he plays a relatively straightforward game of using his "timewalk" feat to allow an alpha or blunt one. With the well you can easily cover all your ravagers with the no knock down aura, which is obviously excellent. You also want to keep a close eye out for a forest mid board where you can threaten his forest assassination. It's always sort of corner case, but threatening 16 inches is nothing to scoff at.
Honestly, my favorite part about B1 is the fact that he is very well rounded. You get the strength buff, you get some control, and you also get anti shooting in the 2nd part of his feat. That helps you in list selection because you won't feel bad about dropping Baldur into most lists with guns.

I used to play him in Bones with a woldwrath, megalith, fulcrum and woldwyrds. As a gunline/denial. Woldwrath with shifting stones, stonewardens and selfheal heals 15 points on average, which is quite the thing on an arm 22 gargantuan
The weakest part of the list was always Baldur himself

We've got votes for Raptor and Wrath; anyone have a favorite non-colossal build for him?

We've got votes for Raptor and Wrath; anyone have a favorite non-colossal build for him? Something like Ghetorix plus another heavy works just fine in DH

I also play Baldur1 in Devourers Host without a garg. I have a Stormraptor in my other list so I didn't want to make my lists too similar by having one with Baldur also. Plus I wanted to include the new Dhunian Archon to protect my high value models like Bridged, LotF, Ravager UA, Wolfrider champ from getting sniped out. I played the list once with Ghetorix and a Feral but with the way scenarios are spread out I really wanted an extra beast to just stick across the map at the back of a zone

Huh. You _can_ save LotF with a Dhunian Archon. Always assumed that guy was undead. That model just keeps getting better and better.
