In the Winterguard theme, Warcasters gain sac pawn Winterguard “trooper”, what exactly classifies as a trooper? On warroom, there are grunts in the rifles, the infantry, and the weapons crews, the artillary kaptains are kaptains, etc., so what counts as a trooper, or am I thinking about it too much?

Troopers are models in a unit.
Check the section on Units. It is defined there.

Ahh thanks so much! I wish PP would just keep its language consistent so that I didn't need to look through multiple sources or ask apparently obvious questions here.

Units have various model types - Leaders, Officers, Grunts, Weapon Attachments, etc. All models in a unit are “troopers”.

Thanks I got it. Not sure why some folks are so defensive about me criticizing PP’s language, or need to be so snarky about me reading the rules. It must be hard being so perfect all the time, though I would expect along with your perfection would come some degree of patience for simpletons like me...

The other guy’s tone was harsher than necessary, I’ll agree with you there. Most people on this forum (me included, some days) could stand to be a bit more polite. But also to be fair: “trooper” has been a bolded word in the rule book for at least the last 10 years. Resolve your grievances by playing Warmachine against one another! Go!
