Right, this is a part of the PP community that bothers me too. Many of us in the community want fluff, PP tries their damnest to make it between the RPG world books and such, and no one buys it. PP should really just KS all their fluff components just to get out to the people who do want it in a cost effective way. We are just lucky that the top tier tournaments and IG enforces painting requirements or we would see bat reps with fields of pewter and resin. I think part of the issue is that there might be a few different subsections of the community here. I'm not the biggest fluff person, but I bought every issue of NQP, even if I didn't get around to reading every single article. It would be interesting to see what the sales actually are on the Oblivion box and what proportion of the player base actually picks it up, beyond just anecdotes from seeing people post "hey, check out my random mini with a scroll case because I don't want to spend money on the Oblivion kit" online. As for painting requirements... well, I agree with you and I like attending fully painted events, but that feels like it is a "OMG Karen, you can't say that in the WMH community" type statement; saying such things in public is liable to get you branded a "paint-shamer" (eyeroll).

"hey, check out my random mini with a scroll case because I don't want to spend money on the Oblivion kit" It's worth noting that it is basically impossible to get said Oblivion kit outside the US, especially before the WTC. So people did what they had to do.

On the conversion topic.
The WTC lists are out. The overpowered Hermit is in 206 list. Word is out that 200 conversions are checked and approved by the judges. I guess wyrd sold a lot of models..

I have played a lot of Malifaux since M3e has dropped because its awesome and its getting very very hard to get WM/H games where I am. Due to the 3D nature of Malifaux it almost seems like an unwritten rule that "thou shall paint thy models". Which means everyone I have come across has most of their collection painted to at least a "tabletop standard".
PP and WM/H community needs to re-embrace 3D terrain and PP needs to actively push the painting and yes, the converting/hobby side of the game to make the game more attractive to people other than the die hard competitive players. Many of whom I am semi convinced would just play with a blank small base with the words "hermit" written on it if it were allowed.
The issue around conversions and the hobby/painting thing in general for WM/H is that for a very long time, the people who were deemed the "voices of WM/H" or the key leaders had a fairly anti painting/hobby stance. While I love the Chain Attack guys I emailed them a year ago to suggest that they might want to talk about painting and hobby on one of their casts. I got a fairly blunt reply back that they "don't consider such things part of the game". When the main voice in the community have that opinion, it no wonder that side of things struggles. However it seem that they have changed their opinions or stances of late, which is good to see.
I think some of that is over-exaggeration from comic effect. BUT the joke does point to a greater truth.

Probably a deep error by the WTC committee/PP. I believe that the organized play guy (Jeff) for PP resigned so that was probably either a ball drop or something else. You can't allow a model that good (OP?) to be legal in a world-tournament with a Euro emphasis and then not have it widely available IN Europe. That hiccup in distribution probably needed to be communicated/anticipated and the model not allowed. C'est la vi. Choir dudes with a scroll rock!

So people did what they had to do. I ran into the same thing too. I felt the NQ and NQP were some of the best hobby issues to hit print since old school Dragon and White Dwarf. You can always know who bought the NQs if they were a veteran player and said "Warmahordes has no lore". Ya sure, 2 editions of a world guide, multiple faction books, IRPG and Unleashed books, 2 eds of 5 Fingers, Skorne Empire book, short stories, novels, a bunch of NQ, NQP fiction. Warmachine consumers can be such a weird beast, I think PP would be better served to just KS all of its lore/RPG material with a merchant option and digital purchase through the site, which is weird cause most companies KS models!

How many of you ever tried to interact with Jeff in person at a convention? He never seemed enthusiastic to talk to players. He put off the aura of someone unhappy with his job.
Not surprising, considering the general quality of people with whom he was forced to interact. : p
Seriously: CID is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, and I feel sorry for the front man who has to deal with the insane, ignorant, utterly irrational points of view there.

Can't tell if Samurai's right and you're being too negative or if things really are that bad. Don't know enough to make that call. I've heard some bad things about the CiD community, though. It makes sense that everyone wants their toys to blow everyone else's out of the water. At the risk of sounding like a broken track, hosting all of your own games gives you a completely different perspective than being a tourney player.

CID is great, so long as the participants are decent human beings. Most aren’t.

i kno the reason it is because he did not liek his job because dat is wat eh said did you actually talk with Jeff or are you just shitposting again? It was vaguely alluded to in his Facebook post that he wasn't totally happy with the job and saw the office move as a good opportunity to pack up. Now I can't find the post that had his public resignation, but it's out there.
