For my money what WWFF needs most is a major Nysa Hunters point drop.. This. Like actually. If boomhowlers and nyss can drop a touch in points then WWFF actually breaks wide open.

Speaking of Nyss hunters, Boomhowler 2 was also spoiled yesterday. Reposition 3" on the Nyss seems pretty good if they can get a price reduction as well

Repoing Rask, Skarath or even Brine also has its uses. Heck even the swamp horror can keep quite far back if he gets repo. Boomies is basically a 6 point 'repo on a stick' model.

Minions don't seem to have the best options for repo (at least compared with merc options like damiano trenchers or morrowan shieldwall units). Best I can think of is the sacral vault, which gets to shoot and then position better for its soulstorm/telemetry/arcane vortex.

Gosh I wish I could fit him into my Sturm and Drang list. He's not going to replace Eilish, Orin, or the Spell Slave sadly, but I'd love Repo on Lug (8-9" Return moves? Yum) or Skarath. Edit: Another layer of movement options onto the Void Archons too, which is cute but probably unnecessary But I do quite like it on Gun Boars. 12" range means a lot of things can't charge them if they get shot, but 15" jumps up yet another scale (13" threat ranges are reasonably common).

So the Crippled System podcast that originally spoiled the new WWFF mentioned that there would be something in the realm of twelve new solos for WWFF over the course of the next year thanks to Riot Quest. Off the top of my head, the ones we know of are:
-Boomhowler Solo Artist (see above) -Wolf with No Name -Scythe -The Pygmy Tanks (possibly counting as two of the twelve as there's a character and a FA2 version) -Captain Crawtooth (although he was called out as being better in Blindwater than WWFF)
I swear there's another one I can't remember right now. Maybe J.A.I.M.S. if she was counted. But either way we probably have ~5 more on the horizon, plus Helga2. Even if I have reservations at times about the Riot Quest aesthetic (those tanks would have to be incredible for me to put them on the table), it's still pretty exciting to be getting all these new options. Between Riot Quest and the Oblivion releases we're going to be absolutely swimming in solos for the foreseeable future.

Any chance the other 5 solos are just the Oblivion releases? Off the top of my head there was the 3 archons, the Hermit and the Thamarite Advocate. It adds up. Of course I wouldn't mind 5 additionnal solos, but that might be it...

From memory it was a discussion regarding the Riot Quest releases over the next year specifically. So no, it wouldn't include the new Oblivion releases. A lot of the Riot Quest stuff is far enough away that the models are still having their art assets put together, so it's not surprising that we haven't seen them.
Plus, I know Hungerford has mentioned that there were around thirty-odd models releasing for Riot Quest, all of them with Warmachine rules. Since almost all of the ones we've seen so far have been Mercenary solos, with a smattering of Minions, I think the numbers line up. About a dozen for each of Mercenaries and Minions, spreading the love out across multiple factions with their release, and then a smaller number of models like Butcher4, Feora4, Helga2, and the Agoniser Character Warbeast that are releases for specific individual factions. Twelve Minion solos among them checks out, I think, based on the spread we've seen so far.

The Riotquest gallery of minions so far
J.A.I.M.s Mercenary Minion Convergence Partisan solo
Boomhowler, Solo Artist Mercenary Minion Trollblood Partisan solo
Wolf With No Name Minion Circle Partisan Skinwalker solo
Captain Crawtooth Mercenary Minion Gatorman Privateer solo
Ledfoot & Treadz Minion Trollblood Partisan solo
Chuck Dogwood Circle Blackclad solo (possible minion?)
Scythe Mercenary Minion Nyss solo
Weird Wendell, Gremlin Wrangler Minion Grymkin Partisan solo
Flugwug the Filcher Minion Croak solo
Helga on Wheels Minion Warlock
So that’s 9. 10 if you count both parts of the pyg tank people, and possibly 11 depending on unconfirmed taggings on dogwood, but there are still 2 other unshown riotquest people so who knows. Also from hungerford himself on his stream, this whole first phase of riot quest is until next June, which he did say Helga2 is still a ways off so by the sounds December/ early next year at minimum

Not sure if they were including J.A.I.M.S, since she's already out. And I hadn't realised Weird Wendell was a Minion. But yeah, a good slab of models. Between Riot Quest and Oblivion I think we have more models coming over the next year than we've had released over the entire course of Mark 3 so far.

So we have a few changes now. What I've noticed... Slaughterhousers got -2 cost, +1 pow and relentless charge. Bone grinders get -1 cost on the max unit and bloodthirst. Razorback is RAT 5. War hog, road hog and gun boar -1 cost, all dials are free. Commandos got base ambush. Anyone notice anything else?

Oh and the Primal Archon and all the riot quest solos seem very poor to me. I don't think I'd use any of them except the Hermit, who will be a regular addition in multiple armies.

Boomhowler2 at least seems interesting to me. The repo3 on anything can be a big deal and the no losing tough in a pinch can be good. He can drop covering fire to block off a flank from ambushers or fast peeps so I think he’ll see some play.
Other one in gubbin.... gubbin, I want to see what I can do with his explosion trigger. Because it’s not on him. It’s 2d6+3” away from him. And yes it drifts but choosing an area and flame pow 12 might see some niche stuff.
Primal archon I’m testing around with Rask. From a merc perspective. Toros have countercharge and often times sit back and just bodyguard. Primal archon does that but better and cheaper. Also some thoughts into Barnabas2 and archons since stuck one by Barnabas and there is little to no assassination vectors anymore or it makes their life hell.
Big thing with all the changes is anything might work now

Having played against JAIMS she is better in play than on paper. Having natively good defense, armor, and boxes with bladeshield makes her a headache to deal with for infantry, and overkill for heavies to go after. For boomhowler I think covering fire and is fell calls, especially the repo 3 one, seem good and beat back can be situational but win you games. Gubbins is probably the worst one but scattering high explosive aoes into combat, or ap7 against the rare target that is in his threat range and not engaged, can have its uses.
