Why I need to care for the mechanism and system when the problem is only fluff and marketing? I don't get it. No one in here are ever argue about the game's mechanism or anything related to it. Actually we don't have anything to argue if you just want to say about the mechanism and for this part all we can is guess about how it does. Why there are so many red herrings out there? No one need to defend the idea what the person is not want to say or believe, but you guys are keep ask me to do that. Just why? I didn't know which basic concepts of the world you were addressing, and my question was based on the fluff, to which, you seem to be complaining about something we know so little that it's not worth saying you like it or don't like it.
As for marketing, well, such teasers happen all the time where you are given the most basic of concepts to work with. In fact, a lot of games and movies are presented with such a quick shot that it can be frustrating. While it is frustrating, keep in mind that with such things that involve any level of art, things can change before release, so releasing too much information can actually be counter-productive.
Of course, with a year/year-and-a-half to release, most of the things like the general world story and factions should be pretty well tied down. So from there it comes down to building anticipation and feeding the hype machine. If you give out everything out front, you have little to present over the time to release, so you dribble everything out to keep the interest alive. This is quite common among marketing releases, especially for games. Heck, Blizzard even did it with Warcraft 3 and tied it in to their annual April Fool's joke presenting the 4th army as the Pandarens (which led to much grief on many's part when Mists of Panderia came out).
We know so little that complaining about it is pointless till we know more.

In my mind, the story of 40k is basically just a blatant rip off of dune.
Thé other thing it’s ripping off is Dante’s inferno. That’s where it gets the gothic parts.
The while things a metaphor for death, and the purpose of life.
Even the emperor is dead.
The various factions are just the scattered fragments of a dying mans regrets and aspirations
The tyranids are the bugs eating away at your corpse.

40k is a bad jesus allegory Perhaps. The basis of 'Anathema' of 40k is Leto II. And, Leto II is a tyrant but he believes that his vision can give the human the better life. At least both of them are want to makes humans better. And it is suggests that their worries are actual threats and it must be done, even if the humanity are suffer the tyranny. Also they don't have the personal greed, and just want to guide the humanity. So it is nothing wrong that they are some kind of savior. A bad one, but still....

I'm surprised people haven't mentioned that PP said this is supposed to be another flagship game for them, and not just a side game. That sort of information (should it prove to be true) is huge!

I think this is very much true! They will spend a lot of resources and efford into this. Maybe people are too overloaded with all the side games that PP made, but weren't really well recieved (or at least not long lived). This has been planed for long and if it keeps the game spirit of Warmachine, but in a less overblown setup that would be perfect. It would even allow Warmachine to stabilize, while PP can keep the product output they need as a company. And if the Game starts in MKI size, then it can also surivive another 15 years

So where are the warlocks? Will they be aliens? I could see them happening eventually, and it sort of makes sense to use those rules for things like some kind of biological/ psychic connection

There may be no warlocks. The Infernals are only after humanity’s souls. Most warlocks are not human. Hence, most warlocks have no need to escape through the Cyriss stargate when the humans evacuate.

That assumes that Caenn is the only planet with developed life. 5000 years is a long time, especially when starting at a pike & shot era. Heck, Star Trek hasn't even passed that point with as far as the new tv show (Picard) is concerned.
That being said, they've stated that there will be no magic. So, it can be easy to figure out how to make a Warcaster in a pure high tech society (presence projection, hacking, energy projection), but how to manipulate energies with Beasts without it being magic? Will it be Psychic ala Tyranids or pain manipulation ala the Skorne/Dark Eldar? Or it just may not be developed at all.

I could see them happening eventually, and it sort of makes sense to use those rules for things like some kind of biological/ psychic connection It is possible that warcaster in the new game only means 'the powerful spellcaster that leads the army', simillar but not the same word with warcasters in Immoren. Therefore it is possible that warlock branch of warcasters are also exists. You know, warlocks are also 'the powerful spellcaster that leads the army' as well. Also nothing says only human race are evacuate from Caen. It is quite possible that trollkin, ogrun, gobber, dwarf and many other humanoid races are also exiled from Caen. Then it is nothing wrong that the tradition of warlock is still lives.

They're too busy trying to destroy civilization, for one reason or another, to go trampsing about the stars. Not to mention, their power comes from the Wyrm, which may not be available on every planet...

Not to mention, their power comes from the Wyrm, which may not be available on every planet... Some other warcasters get their power from a deity. The whole point is that there is no magic in the new game, so I don't see how the source of magic for some warlocks not being available, makes any difference.
