I wonder what kind of theme it'll have. Aesthetically, I mean. I hope it isn't this godawful overblown cartoonish style a la LOL/ WOW/ Overwatch / every game with mass following these days they are apparently going for with Riot Quest. I hate this style...

I'll decide if I like this or not based on models and rules. Get out of here with you common sense based approach, what do you think this is? TBH the first hurdle I will have to get over is the look of the models. I have never played a game I didn't like the look of the models. Main reason iv never played Infinity although it has many many things that I like in a game.

For me at least the things that define WMH are the gold trims on Firetrucking everything (although that kinda generic), the bronze grills, the huge sleeves on everyone, and every warbeast/jack inexplicably looking like it's secrely just a muscular dude in costume. We'll have to wait and see. I agree, other than Gorman and the pyg tank RQ looks ass. generic.

I REALLY hope it doesn't follow the pinup aesthetic that PP loves to have on their create models. Or even the Riot Quest "cartoon" aesthetic.
Srly, get some inspiration from Infinity or even Malifaux.

One thing I am curious about is who PP is aiming this game at. Is it existing players or are they hoping to bring in people from outside their existing customer base and get them into PP games? If its the latter, not withstanding that none of us have seen any models or rules, the reaction on other war gaming forums and pages has been "lol, no thanks".
Hopefully the product is good and PP do a good marketing campaign for this. Otherwise this may be DOA with the wider war gaming community.

For me it sounds like death throes. You have literally been saying that for years. Ya, PP needs a release for its 20th anniversary of people saying "it sounds like death throws".

Personally, I hope it is Warmachine meets Ben 10.

I actually rather like the general Warmachine aesthetic. It's a bit better than Warcraft's, and goes a bit different than Warhammer, making MOST of them easily differentiated (though, the new sea elves have a unit that looks like GREAT Nihilators).
Even if they tone it down a bit I think it will be fine, so long as they don't go to the extreme that Infinity has gone. It needs to have some connections to its original style to keep it cohesive. That's part of the reason why WoW went with its style, to keep its connection to the original RTS games it is based from.

Admittedly more Ghost in the Shell, but still.
Can't say much on the Malifaux side, though, as I haven't seen much of their stuff painted, just the box arts.

I kinda would like a mix of a style of mechs similar to front mission's wanzers with a warmachine flavour. will be interesting to see if they stick with their old school of warjack design (a la divergent evolution), where the only thing that changes (aside from weapons) is that proportions of various features (neck plate, face grill, eyes, etc), or if they'll loosen that up a bit and allow for some wackier designs. i.e. like the way the basic structure is different for clamjacks, or the Vulcan. Or vectors, but they're not warjacks and I have a personal vendetta against them.

Or even the possibility of Heavy Gears, too. Those could be evolutions of the Man 'o' Wars, after all.

I'm pretty sure they won't drop the sentient robots bit, since that's such a key part of the setting's identity, but spacejacks fighting alongside actual mecha/suits (basically a more modern armored korps) is a cool thought.

I would be so hyped if they release a mech-inspired game...

Wargames are pretty solid nowadays, even Battletech is cleaning up its range. Really it just boils down to style and audience. Some people are into the anime style, some into the Overwatch stuff, other into Magic the Gathering in the Old World, others grim and dark, etc. Got to say Warmachines style has always been pretty distinct over the years, I don't see that making a huge shift in the future.
